They're quirky and ADHD, but she somehow manages to keep them engaged and on task. 3) The instructors are gentle and kind. Math can be very intimidating for children who struggle with it, and the instructors are patient but persistent without making children feel stupid or inept. 4) The owner, Elizabeth, can't be more accommodating. Hours are flexible. Kids can be there as often as they need. They can tailor a kid's studies to what's going on at school or what might be missing from a kid's school curriculum in preparation for standardized tests. There are great private tutors in Dallas, but if you can't find one that works with your schedule, I HIGHLY recommend Mathnasium!

Many preschools advertise the Montessori approach, but actually they do only an adaption of the concept or do not have all the Montessori Toys. This school really follows the original Montessori concept by Maria Montessori. You just need to take a look at the classrooms and observe via the television, what your toddler is doing during the school day. Besides, this school has excellent state inspection results without any incidents, which is rare. The school fees are also more than fair in comparison to other Montessori Schools in Irving, which I am thankful for.

Don't let the small class size fool you, it is a blessing! There are tons of opportunities for growth and they encourage the students to shine based on their own merits. Contrary to that negative yelp post from way too many years ago (P.S. You can't blame a child's drug habit on the school. That's called observant & disciplined parenting), the administration keeps a close eye on the students and alerts the parents quickly to concerns or behavior shifts. I can confidently say that we have parented in partnership with the school to raise smart, respectful, creative, athletic, well-balanced students. The most important part of my observation is that he is happy and likes to go to school. I'm impressed. When I lived and taught in Dallas, I had no idea what this school was until a colleague left my school to teach there. That was 1997 - and he is STILL THERE! Since then another friend left his school to teach there. At this point it got my attention. Then they hired a marketing director, and the school started appearing more and more in the paper - like a LOT. Service projects became popular and a mainstay, and it was clear there was a strategic plan executed that included some serious "play," which has paid off; all of these things, my nephew participated in. It's a best kept secret for sure. From a community member perspective, living in the Lakewood area was a good experience, and I was able to participate in their fund raisers (Trek For Tech, among others), even though I didn't have kids in the school. Here's a few examples of what I love about my children attending Park Cities Montessori in their crucial early years of life. The skill set of building concentration on one activity and putting it away before moving on to the next is huge. It teaches a sense of order, helps build patience and perseverance within a task, as well as learning how to take turns and wait until the work becomes available. No matter what activity the children engage in, there is a focus on the process and the beauty of slowing down. There is also ample opportunities for the children to experience nature. There is the crucial benefit to circle time and singing with one another and building camaraderie with one another as a class family. Zero screen time is a huge piece of what makes PCM great because it encourages children to use their imagination and engage in exploration when boredom arises. The practical life skills that my children have developed is incredible. When out in public, the amount of strangers that compliment the table manners our children have at such a young age is a testament to the time they spend at PCM. We put the work in at home, but it is with the guidance and advice from PCM that has led us down such a successful path. Plus it's super cute to see our 20 month old walking everywhere he goes with his hands behind his back. Finally, one irreplaceable quality that PCM staff demonstrates is the love they have for each of their children. My son was enrolled in Nido from 9 months old- 18months old. His bond was so strong with his Nido teachers that after he transitioned to the toddler environment, he would constantly want to show them the new things he was learning and show off his new glasses. The staff always made time for him and made him feel seen, even at a young age. My daughter started in the toddler environment when she was 2.5 years old and transitioned to the Children's House environment a month before she turned 3. Changing environments was worrisome because she was going to be part of a larger class with new teachers and it's always hard to start anew. However, she was always filled with joy and looked forward to going to school. She would get sad when the week was coming to an end and I know that's because of the love she had from her teachers and the love of learning they instilled in her. I cannot thank these ladies enough for everything they have done for my children. I also have a unique perspective being a toddler teacher at PCM and have grown very attached to my class of children. We learn all kinds of skill sets together from putting on our shoes independently, to what it means to listen and create friendships with each other, to learning endless vocabulary, as well as learning how to navigate through big feelings with one another. The children have become a part of me and will forever hold a special place in my heart. Tears fill my eyes as I write this review because I'm so grateful for Park Cities Montessori. PCM has become a second home to our children and the teachers have become surrogate parents to our girls while we are working. They have both grown leaps and bounds over the two years they have been there. Reading, writing, vocabulary, independence, confidence, practical life skills - academically and emotionally I couldn't be more thrilled with their progress and I credit PCM with fostering all of these qualities in a loving and positive environment. Reinforcing kindness, independence, and friendship with classmates, I couldn't have asked for a better home away from home for them and will be very sad when we have to move on to kindergarten! Every part of this review reflects my own personal experiences and perspective as a former student. I share these observations in good faith and hope they offer helpful insight for others. Some teachers were kind and supportive, and I'm grateful for them. But others showed clear favoritism, often treating neurodivergent students, students of color, and those from less affluent families with less patience, care, or respect. I saw students singled out, shamed, or ignored when they needed help. That includes a teacher in the art department, Ms. M**ks (last names) who, despite appearing nice to some, often appeared to treat students who displayed neurodivergence in a harsh and dismissive way. One classmate with ADHD, for example, was frequently criticized for traits beyond their control. I will add that it appears that there is currently a new teacher in her place, and I cannot find this particular teacher on the school website, which is honestly a relief. I watched as she corrected, belittled, or singled out a few (even a few is too many) students who were neurodivergent or just different in how they expressed themselves. One student in particular, who had clear ADHD traits and a real passion for art, was constantly criticized for things like messiness, distraction, or "doing it wrong." It felt like she used that student's neurodivergent traits as targets, rather than offering understanding or support. The dynamic was painful to witness and left a lasting impression on me. There was also a time I was accidentally injured during a class activity involving a particular art material. I wasn't helped or offered first aid--just told it was my fault by that same teacher. That scar stayed on my body for years. There were also incidents involving body shaming in gym class and situations on school trips that felt physically unsafe. Students with invisible needs or without formal diagnoses were often overlooked. While the school talked about values like inclusion and activism, they weren't always reflected in how staff treated students. I hope things have improved since I attended, because all children deserve a safe and supportive learning environment.

We were sufficiently impressed and the kid liked it, so we applied. The application fee was $500. There was supposed to be class visits for student applicants in February-March 2025 to see if they were a good fit and if the child liked the environment. We were never contacted for a visit. In fact, we were never contacted about anything at all. I am writing this review in May 2025 and we never received notification that she had been accepted or not. Clearly, she had not, and we have moved on so that is fine. But aren't we at least owed an answer for our $500? My wife wrote to inquire and was told that a post card acknowledging the application was sent in October 2024. Ok, fine. But what about after October 2024? My wife was told the file was incomplete. Ok, if that is the case, why were we not notified? We sent all required materials so we we were unaware that the file was incomplete. But that still raises the question why the admissions director at WRM did not follow up and notify us that certain materials were missing (apparently lost by their side)? I cannot speak to the pedagogy at WRM. It may be very good. But the admission process leaves much to be desired. The two stars are for an unwillingness to follow up or to notify us of their decision. I guess we were just to supposed to figure out that no news meant rejection. As I said, that is fine because we found an alternative school and accepted its offer. But WRM needs to get its admission process corrected. We don't think it is right to take money and then never respond with an answer.

I saw there were only 3 spots left and I wasn't sure if it were for the current year or for the start of the next school year so I called and left a voicemail to learn more information. I received a call at 8am PST (a few minutes ago). Instead of introducing herself, and the school. She just stated "what do you want to know?" We'll generally ma'm all of the information that one would need to know when a parent is excited (was excited) for their child to possibly attend this school of course . I mentioned the word "tuition" and was cut off immediately with a boisterous "it's fifteen thousand dollars". Ok, I saw that part posted online, what I wanted clarity as to know things like the tuition scheduling breakdown for payments over the course of the year...but according to her I'm assuming its a lump sum payment. And since I was cut off I'm assuming the admission fees, supply fees and any other fees are just thrown in the abyss of fees without a breakdown. Her next question was followed by what grade and I mentioned LOWER ELEMENTARY. She then proceeded to ask me if my child were in school...well of course, yes my child is in school. I was then asked if I we're familiar with Montessori education... yes I am (one should draw the conclusion that if I mention that my child is in LOWER ELEMENTARY that would most likely mean that my child is already enrolled in a Montessori). I was then asked what grade my child were in. I mentioned technically it would be 1st grade (for a public education). I was then asked if my child started school...of course, yes. She then proceeded to say, "so he would be in 2nd grade next year?" this seemed like a trick question to check my knowledge of the Montessori method, or to see if I knew what number came after 1 . I felt unnecessarily grilled. The representative seemed bothered that she had to call me back and stated that I could go online "as theres a ton of information on there". I informed her that we were moving from CA, and I wanted to be on top of things since the schools website mentioned there were only three spots left and I didn't want to miss out. She mentioned nothing else really, just when did I expect to move and I mentioned for the fall... I was told to schedule an appointment online. Ok, It would make absolutely zero sense for me to schedule a visit to a school that doesn't have any openings for the intended school year while I still live in CA. What is so wrong with wanting a seamless transition? I would also like to mention that the school's website invites parents to call for more information (which I did). I didn't like her tone, it was snarky. How dare I call White Rock Montessori to learn more information (only to be redirected back to the site that could not answer my question which still went unanswered on the phone call). The schools online presence does not match with the attitude of school personnel, and the way the representative came off was as if this were an exclusive boarding school for uber wealthy investors in the UAE.

They forewarn you that it may seem they aren't learning anything but it will show in a couple of years. That is crap. My daughter really wasn't learning anything because all she wanted to do was play & that's what they let her do all day. She was at another Montessori & learned more there in 3 mths then what she learned at MCHS in a year. I raised concerns with the guide like the director told us to & instead of trying to resolve the issue she just hated me & basically refused to talk to me. On 3 occasions I left messages for her to call me directly & she would say the answer to the secretary & that secretary would call me back, this became extremely frustrating when I had follow up questions. The director never believed how rude or callous her teacher was so I took a recorder to one of the parent teacher conferences to prove to her how she acted. As soon as it was my turn to go in she walked out her class to go get the director. The guide only said maybe 3 words while the director talked the rest of the time & answered questions I directed towards the guide. There was zero communication between myself and the teacher. I also had concerns about her coming home looking like she rolled around in a mud pit. Her pants and shoes had chunks of mud on them. MCHS never did anything about it. The guide dismissed us and the director just said that's how kids are. I spoke with at least 2 other parents who also had the same concern about the dirtiness. Yes kids can get messy but there is a line & adults should "guide" them to not get so dirty. They show you how some kids are solving complex math problems & other advanced projects but I guess it's only for their favorites because I never saw my daughter or anyone in her class do any of that. Also, her teacher told me that my daughter doesn't want to learn! I was shocked to hear such nonsense! Never ever has my daughter not wanted to learn! She is quite the opposite & all of her previous 4 teachers in other schools & current teachers can attest to that. They always are Surprised at how quickly & how much she wants to learn, even her Arabic teacher at DIS wants to put her in advanced classes. One time my mom sat in class to observe & she observed 2 kids pushing a little girl outside & locking her out. It took several minutes for the teacher to figure this out & my mom wasn't allowed to talk or "interfere" (as the guide said). When they finally brought the parents in to discuss what occurred they basically ushered them away from my mom when she greeted them. We knew those parents & finally told them the true story of what occurred (MCHS gave another version). I almost forgot my favorite complaint. My daughter was still perfecting her potty skills & one time she peed on herself & went to the bathroom to change. She couldn't get her pants off & was too shy to ask for help & she fell asleep on the bathroom floor for 10-15 minutes until the teacher finally checked in on her! I was so infuriated! What if she had fallen & busted her head open?! She would have bled out before they found her. Several times I picked her up with her pants soaked from urine. She has a change of clothes there & that witch just let her be wet in a 60 degree environment. My daughter had some of the worst rashes & colds because of this callous treatment. I would have been better off leaving her with a pack of monkeys than these guides. (At least the monkeys would lick her but clean!) It seems like they are just watching over the class but not really taking care of them or teaching them. I can't remember the teachers name. She's an older puerto rican lady. My daughter was at Garland Montessori where she learned a lot but the owner seemed too creepy for me. Now she is at Spanish House & we both love it. She learns sooo much! They have a Montessori way of teaching but with more guidance than MCHS (where the kids do whatever they want). I actually went to Spanish House last May & begged for a spot--i was 3rd on the waiting list. I told the director about the terrible problems we have at MCHS & she called me 2 hours later to tell me she gave my baby a spot so she won't continue to suffer at MCHS. Can I tell u I was sooo relieved & elated that I cried! SH has been the best move ever. She had attended their summer session previously & loved her teachers. The owners are this wonderful, sweet couple that also has their kids in their school. Now my daughter loves school. That being said, there are numerous parents that are happy with that MCHS but my experience was horrific. I would never recommend MCHS but others do. I'm just one untold experience. If she wasn't in SH I would put her in Dallas International School, that's where she takes her Arabic class & the teachers & staff I have interacted with are awesome.
