When I submitted the tape to be digitised, they conducted a technical assessment, quoted a price. However, they sent the quote to the wrong email address!, causing more than two weeks of unnecessary delays. On top of that, they didn't recogniz during the assessment that they lacked the technical capability to handle the job to start with!. Instead, they proceeded anyway and requested full charge which I paid, wasting my time and money. If you can't manage something as basic as sending an email to the correct address or properly identifying your technical limitations, you shouldn't be operating in this industry. Because of this incompetence and delays, I lost the chance to work with a more professional company. My only month in the country has been wasted because of this situation. This is clearly a basic shop for simple tasks, not a professional service provider. read more

I hired them to convert four, old 78 records to CDs. It looks like they played them on the wrong record player with the wrong settings - some came back as if they'd been played as a 33 and some as if played as a 45. The records were mostly of piano music, so the music came out as v..e..r..y s...l...o...w and low-pitched because they were played at too slow of a speed. Another shop told me that in addition to speed differences, the 78 records should be played with a different type of cartridge than 33/45 records, so it would appear they didn't do that either. I'm familiar enough with computers to correct the speed in software, but it took a few hours of work, which I wasn't super happy to have needed to do. I have used this company twice now to transfer 8mm film to digital format. Both times they have done an excellent job. It's not inexpensive but worth every penny. They can transfer the film to USB drive or dvd. Also they gave me two tiny vhs type master copies in case I lost or damaged my dvd. In addition, they spliced all the 8mm film onto larger reels. This was all done before the time frame they quoted and adjusted the price down as there wasn't as much film as they estimated when I dropped it off. If you are looking for good hands to preserve the memories of your family give this company a shot. I will use them again in the future for sure. read more

I am so sorry I ever used these people. Horrible horrible service. I submitted my media on 11/7/20. They took my 50% deposit, and used the COVID excuse that they couldn't get to the job until January. Fine. I'm a reasonable guy. Heard nothing from them in January, so I called. When you go to the customer service (oxymoron) prompt, nada - rings off the hook. They only pick up if you go to the sales prompt (funny how that works). You get a receptionist who takes your info. and purportedly reports your call to the "consultant". I was never able to talk to the "consultant", in three calls to them, though I insisted I was at my wits end. No manager returned my call after I requested it and said I was super upset. However, after that first call they charged me the remainder of the fee, supposedly an indication that the work was completed and I would be getting a call from the "consultant" informing me that I could pick up my originals and get instructions to obtain my soft media. Nothing. Called back twice after that, a week or so apart. Same thing each time - take my number and promise a call back. Today I made the last call and demanded a manager call me back by COB, but no one did. I still don't haven't received my product and for all I know they lost my media. I soooo would never recommend these people for anything. read more

After procrastinating for years and years, I decided to bring in a few 8mm cassette tapes from an old Sony Handycam, a few VHS tapes to be transferred to DVD and negatives to be transferred to a CD. Can only say how pleased I am to not only have these memories now in front of me; but also very pleased with Play It Again Video. Positive experience with everyone whether it be on the phone or in person. Very friendly, organized and sensitive to how precious these old tapes are to their customers. Was given the exact date of when everything would be ready and it was! Watching just one of my DVDs was worth a million dollars to me . . . I laughed, I cried. Cannot wait to share these with my family over the upcoming holidays. Do yourself a favor . . . dig those old tapes out. Bring them to Play It Again Video. You will be happy you did. read more

They converted an out-of-print music cassette to CD for me and the quality is excellent. It really sounds better than the original. I had taken the cassette over a year ago to another store in the Boston area and they told me the tape was too bad and couldn't be converted. I noticed the Needham store in passing a few weeks ago and decided to try it out. Very pleased I did. Really excellent quality - very professional. A little pricey, but worth it. Thanks! read more

We have moved a box of 79 Super 8 mm film reels during several relocations over the past 30 years. Each move I would think "I really need to get these films spliced together and transferred onto DVDs" and then I would push them into the back of a closet and forget about them. I was afraid to trust someone to do the work. Finally this year I did some research and located "Play It Again Video" in MA. I live in NC. The staff at Play It Again was so helpful during the entire process. They helped put my mind at ease and were helpful explaining the process of transferring the film onto DVDs. They also suggested archiving the film onto an external hard drive to preserve the images. I recently had a large number of very old home (1960's/70's) movies converted from super 8 to DVD. The movies were in my elderly aunt's possession and were taken by her recently deceased husband. We knew they were family movies, but other than that I had no idea what was on them. I wanted my aunt and her adult children to be able to enjoy the movies and share them with their children. I went to Play It Again Video in July and the staff was fantastic to say the least. They took their time with me explaining the process and my options. I cannot say enough about their courtesy and the way they treat their customers. My order was supposed to take 3 weeks to complete, but was done early and they notified me via e mail. We were able to enjoy the DVD's with much of the family at a recent vacation and everyone was so happy with the surprise! I highly recommend this service. I left with all my original movies, as well as master tapes for future conversions and updates as well as the new converted DVD's as gifts.
