Love, love, love this place! The veterinarians are very caring towards my pets. Especially with my dog that has cancer. I regret that I did not find this place sooner. I had to go through a couple places that felt like a money grab. This place is not like that. They are honest, and affordable. I would 100% recommend this place! read more

My cat (named Rancid) and I have been together: 435,974,400 seconds, or 7,266,240 minutes, -or- 5046 days, -or- 13 years, 9 months, 22 days, and the best of all that time has been since I found Platz Animal Hospital. Rancid means the world to me and has not been in good health lately, but Platz Animal Hospital has been taking care of her since I moved to Detroit 3 months ago, and they are the best. Rancid has lived in Chicago, Las Vegas, and now Detroit, and Platz is the best we have ever found. Everyone there is amazing and understands how important your pet is. Put simply, they rule. Take your pet here. It's that simple. If you love your pet like I love Rancid, take them to Platz. There is no alternative. They are the best. read more

Fast and efficient, they were one of the only places around that were taking appointments for new pets and as someone who just moved here I appreciated it. The people that work there all seem to be kind as well and seem like they enjoy what they do (: read more

Absolutely amazing. My elderly dog was on day 5 of diarrhea and it had turned bloody. They worked me in, explained all my options to me and provided supportive, kind care. Their entire staff were so good to both of us and I can't recommend them highly enough. We found our new veterinarian! The best part of all? Maggie is now doing great and back to her Snoopy dances of joy. So grateful! read more

Took my sick pup here after a bad experience at another area vet - ignoring my concerns and requests for further testing. This wasted time, and I showed up to my appointment at Platz extremely concerned. They were great from day 1, proposing a detailed step-wise test plan proposal and evaluating each step to see if they had figured the problem out - before moving onto the next step. They quickly sorted out the issue and got her scheduled for surgery promptly. My check-ups and visits since have all been great - the staff is super kind, their COVID protocols are solid, and my dog made a swift recovery and is back to her happy self. Highly recommend. read more

After years of being an Incredibly loyal client, relying upon my vet, spending thousands with multiple animals and trusting everything, recommending the practice to endless people, an incident occurred recently that has changed my opinion forever. I will never go back. The disrespect, not animal related specifically, but that was exhibited, including refusal to even speak and instead having a receptionist relay the news we were not to be seen crossed the line. It was cowardly and unprofessional. I was even more sad to hear that many clients have felt this way recently. I wish the practice all the best, but what you once were is far above what you have become. read more

The service experience here has changed and it isn't just due to Covid. I have 3 animals so that's a fair amount of vet business. The last two check-ups I had to just walk out on one of them. I'd been waiting in an exam room for over an hour for the vet. The tech had already done what they needed to. A little communication would have made all the difference. We could have rescheduled. I'm busy too, taking off work to get my animals cared for. Recently they neglected to fax my vaccine updates for my dog to the board/care facility, as they committed. I had to call twice to resolve this and got attitude from the staff. I may need a new vet. read more

I've been dealing with this vet for a long time and I'm very unhappy with the way my senior dog was treated the vet that saw him seem to me uninterested in him I took him in due to him breathing heavy and I felt she was like well whatever she took him back to get tested and she didn't come back she had the assistant bring him back ok your medicine is up front waiting for you to pay ok ... wow I'm not comfortable with taking my cat Bella back in December got her shots so I'm now looking for a different vet keep in mind I've been with this same vet since 1995 I'm sad that I have to leave but I didn't like the way my Bandit was treated he's 13 years old never any major issues . Well off to search for a vet read more

This is not my regular vet - three generations of my family (and even more generations of pets) have been taken care of by Dr. Dine in St. Clair Shores and I owe him my loyalty for his years of compassionate and excellent service. But this clinic is at the end of my street and I have gone there for simple things like nail trims and prescription food out of convenience. Then one morning I got up and had this sinking feeling something was wrong with one of my cats when I couldn't find her. I had gotten up earlier at 5am to let my dog out and in my sleepy stupor, my cat got outside. It had happened before but I wasn't that worried because I live on a quiet cup-de-sac. But when I couldn't find her a couple hours later, I started searching and found her on my neighbors porch, her side slashed open, bloody and covered in flies. Her eyes were glazed over from shock and she was totally limp. I thought for sure I would lose her. It was a Saturday and Platz was open and closer than the emergency vet. I didn't think there was time to take her anywhere else and part of me thought I would just be putting her down and I wanted to put her out of pain quickly. So I rushed her into Platz with no warning other than a panicked phone call and not really being a client. They could have made me wait or told me to go to an emergency vet. But they took one look at Freya and took her straight back. She required surgery and care over the weekend and the lovely woman who took care of her came in on Sunday to check up on her. They went above and beyond. I wish I remembered the vet's name so I could mention her in this review. My cat made a full, but slow recovery. I think in her head, she had really given up and resigned herself to dying. When she came home she wouldn't eat or drink for days and just sat in one place. I had to use an eye dropper to force her to drink water and fed her baby food. But eventually she started to perk up and made a dramatic recovery. She seems grateful too. She was always a nice cat, but this traumatic event seemed to have bonded us even more. She has transformed into the most cuddly, affectionate cat I have ever had. If Platz hadn't provided such excellent and timely care, I am sure I would have lost a young, sweet, and loving kitty who cuddles up on my pillow every night. It's been years since this event and I still feel such gratitude for the staff at Platz. If they had sent me away, I know she would have died in my arms on the way to the emergency vet. Thank you Platz! And for the record, the only outdoors she's exploring now is in a fenced yard she can't escape from! We still don't know what attacked her. The vet thought maybe it was an opossum. I will never get the mental picture of what she looked like when I found her out of my head. I am so glad we got a happy ending! read more

Platz Animal Hospital - Freya. Happy & healthy! - Veterinarians Near Me - Grosse Pointe, Michigan

I've been going to Platz Animal Hospital for 10 years now. During that time, I have been bringing 3 of my dogs there. Currently I have 2 dogs that are taken care of by Platz. The staff is exceptional and friendly. Words can't express enough how competent they are. Dr. Gabe has been taking care of Mr. Barlow, my 3 year old Chihuahua, who has a bit of a knee problem. Dr. Gabe understands how my wife and I feel about Mr. Barlow and takes extreme caution and love with Mr. Barlow's care. Because of Dr. Gabe, we now know that Barlow's knee problem is not dire and that chihuahuas commonly have that specific issue. He instructed us how to properly care for Barlow and what to do and not do while he heals. Dr. Gabe always goes the extra mile, this is just one example of his kindness. Dr. Andris is another doctor at Platz. He takes care of our rescue dog, Mr. Schneebly. He is a 10 year old chihuahua that is in remarkably great shape! He gets his teeth cleaned by Dr. Andris and gets yearly check ups about his thyroid issue. Mr. Schneebly is extremely thankful to Platz Animal Hospital. When we first rescued him, he was not in good health. Dr. Andris took care of that right away! To this day, we can tell that Mr. Schneebly knows that Dr. Andris loves him and helped him when he was not at his best. I highly recommend this business. This business does not exist simply to make money. The people at this business actually love animals and it shows. read more

Platz is consistently professional, courteous and caring. I am deeply appreciative, and trusting of their team. In a time when I feel too many choose profit over their performance, it is nice and comforting to know that my Remington is well cared for at Platz. Thank you. read more

We've been going to Platz for the past 5 years, since moving to the area. We have always had a wonderful experience! Staff is friendly, quick and efficient. Dr Gabe has always given the best care and consideration for all options when helping us make decisions for our pup. Yesterday we had a great experience with staff handling business with social distancing procedures. We always feel save with Platz, thank you! read more

My spaz of a cat ripped one of his nails out recently and it needed to be removed completely or else I was afraid of infection and also unnecessary pain for my little dude. I called at least SIX vets trying to get an appointment that day and everyone was booked, but Platz fit us in! They were kind and fairly priced. I expected at least a $300 bill and it was half of that for an office visit, sedation, claw removal, and antibiotics. They were also quick, and my dude seemed good, if not tired, afterwards. At my last vet, they would always call a day or two after any procedure to check in on how the animal was doing and to see if I had any questions, which I loved. I, of course, could have called if there was any problem, but I always think that kind of customer service goes so, so far. That is a just me being a little nit-picky, and I'll be going back! read more

We have received incredible care here on multiple occasions. Once on an emergency basis, and several other times for regular visits. The vets at Platz have made our transition to GPP really easy, and Zola just loves them all. The staff at the front were also very helpful when I was dealing with insurance claims. The location is super convenient. read more

The best vet we have ever seen! We have a GSD and cat and we have never received the compassion, care and detail to our pets than we have received here. So thankful to have found Platz! read more

Dr. Platz has been my vet for twenty-eight years, and for good reason. He and his staff have gone out of their way many times to help me and my furry minions, even when dealing with my old hellion kitty who'd go raving lunatic feral the moment the vet door closed behind him. I've been impressed with the level of TLC and time they take addressing your concerns and your pet's needs. They're also quite reasonably priced. read more

All of the doctors here have been great to our dog and cat. Dr. Pillsbury was also very helpful last December after our puppy came down with parvo the week we adopted her. They pretty much saved the dogs life that week. How can you beat that? This was around Christmas time and she was nice enough to call on Christmas morning to see if puppy was still doing well. I wish I got care this fast and this good at my doctor. read more

I've been taking my 2 dogs at Platz for nearly 3 years, and always been treated by unfriendly, stuck up, arrogant, iceberg cold front of the house staff. The girls can't even smile. Rude, helpless unprofessional. Is that a reflection of the community that I live ? I really don't get it. How can you retain patients ? Overpriced and unqualified. I do not Recomend unless you enjoy been treated less than others, because you are not from Grosse Pointe and your dogs are not pure breed. read more

We have boarded our dog Bella here on two separate occasions and I have to say I'm very pleased with the staff and the vets here. this is our new go to vet for our dog and I've heard lots of good things for many locals who take their animals here as well. Great staff, and very reasonably priced veterinarian services. Everyone here seems to care about your animal, and even if that's not real, it seems genuine. Area is a little dicey, but not awful. read more

We took our dog Sweet Pea here. She was diagnosed with diabetes on Friday. Unfortunately we had to put her to sleep this morning. She refused to eat or drink. Platz is the only vet I will ever take my animals to!!! I moved and drive from Chesterfield now to take my dog here because they are sooooo amazing! My mom has taken her animals to Dr. Platz for years! All of the staff are great. They are honest and reasonably priced and they really care about each and every one of your pets like they are their own! I tried another vet closer to my house and did not like them at all!! So I make the drive to platz and they are totally worth it! read more

I had taken my cats to Platz for a number of years. Twice in recent months I urgently wanted them to look at a very sick cat. The first time they told me I could get an appointment in 4 days. The second time, I was pretty sure my cat wouldn't survive the night and showed up with cat in tow, and was told they couldn't do anything because they were about to close. My cat did die that night. If you have a sick pet, do not go here. You will be turned away. They are more interested in money than helping. read more

When I think of Platz, I think first of kindness to pets and people. It was true when I used them a decade ago, and it's true now. If it's your pet, it's important to them. The vets and techs explain the results of tests and treatments for anything the tests find. When someone someone found worms (tapeworm pieces) in the fur under Gracie's tail, Platz got her in, tested, and treated within an hour or two. Since Gracie was due for annual tests including heartworm the next day, they took care of that too. Platz 's prices are affordable. They make it comfortable and easy for people to take care of their pets. It's sad that all vets don't treat people the same way. Vets need to make it easy for people to care for their dogs and cats. I've been going to another great vet, further away, that helped the foster/rescue my dog came from. Now I'm back. read more

The vets and staff at Platz Animal Hospital are very genuine and caring. As much as my pet doesn't like going to the vet and I don't like it because he gets stressed, these guys and gals make it so much easier. You can sense that the well being of the pet is their concern and they are not money driven like some of the other vet establishments. I also like they are very thoughtful about the treatments they recommend, they make sure they get previous records and consider the side effects. Based on my experience, their approach is to make your pet well, not just to experiment numerous medications on them to see what will work at the detriment of your pet and your wallet. I believe because of Platz reputation, they have a lot of patients which causes delays at times. But they handle it very graciously and genuinely try to do their best, so be patient. read more

My dog Spartacus was displaying pain symptoms. I was very worried, called the clinic, and they got me in right away. The vet took his time to explain what was wrong with Spartacus, and the girls at the desk were very polite. The tech also took her time to listen and write down my concerns. As a dog mom, this is the perfect place for us! read more

The Dr's and vet techs here are great but the customer service at the counter leaves a lot to be desired. I couldn't believe that after spending $320 to have my puppy spayed and micro chipped I wasn't sent home with a cone. Is this not part of a surgical procedure? I definitely understand procedure however the receptionist was rude and made no effort to rectify the situation other than reiterating that I could purchase one for $15. Absurd in my opinion after the amount of money I had just spent. Because of her I have decided to take my business elsewhere. read more

Dr. Platz figured out what was wrong with my little Puff after taking her to multiple (incompetent) vets around the area. I have been going to Platz for about 5 years now, seeing both Dr. Platz and Dr. Ticcony. Both are excellent vets, take their time with my rotties, and give them excellent care. Despite the size of my dogs, they are very gentle with them, and my dogs and I appreciate it. I fell on hard times this year financially and was unable to get my pups their yearly boosters. Due to the extreme generosity of Dr. Platz, I was able to bring both in and Dr. Ticcony gave them their yearly booster shots. In this world of greed, it is very rare to find such kindness. The vets and staff are just fantastic with animals--the love shows! Thank you all! Pat read more

Dr. Platz was recommended by a former colleague and it was the best recommendation ever! My dog has allergies which the first vet treated with pills which did not help much. Dr. Platz recommended the proper tests be done, was upfront about all costs involved, recommended I visit the university animal hospital in Lansing (Dr Peterson, a huge shout out to her) and my dog is much much better! Veterinary Assistant, Daniel, gets a special shout out for being super friendly, personable, professional and who takes just enough time for my dog to relax a little to make the visits OK. Thank you, Daniel! read more

We drive about 60 miles to see Dr. Platz and the other vets. He is wonderful and innovative and treated many of our cats who had spraying/marking behaviors, he is an expert in that area. When I first met Dr. Platz, I was taking my dog to every specialist there was, to heal him. He told me, that if I were his sister, he would tell me to stop it, and know that it was Steven's time or it wasn't his time and not to spend every dime I had to save him. He was right and it snapped me out of my fear of him dying and back in to the real world. Baby Steven died but peacefully and had a good life with me. I was wrong to keep him alive for my benefit and Dr. Platz was the one that cared enough to bring me back to understand how my love for Baby Steven hindered his progression to heaven. I am so grateful. I have had many animals pass since then and it changed how I feel about it, thanks to Dr. Platz. It is still painful but not the same desperation (for my sake and not theirs). I now am able to take in "special needs" animals who often don't have long to live but, I am able to give them the love and care, that they need until the end. This is all thanks to Dr. Platz. read more
