During my recent visit to Plato's Closet on the North Side, I drove an hour to get there. While browsing near the front, I observed Charlotte opening a bag, glancing inside without touching any items, and reacting with a look of disgust followed by laughter. This was horrifying to witness, and then I realized she was looking at my barely worn name brand clothes. She then deemed my clothes as 'out of style' without thoroughly examining them. This behavior is unacceptable and lacks professionalism. It is important for staff like Charlotte to exhibit tact, respect, and class when interacting with customers. I come in to drop off clothes & no greeting or how are you or hello, just "put your bag on the counter" every time I drop off clothes they have a horrible attitude never reach back out to where you have to show up or just aren't friendly, so I went out of my way to say how are you since these employees can't greet there customers :) read more

We found so many great clothing items there at amazing prices! Especially the clearance rows! The staff are great too. I like their points reward system too. I even found stuff there for my eight year old! Like the adult women's extra small Lululemon clothes fit her My son loves the hat he found. I got a cute tennis skirt! I haven't tried selling any clothes to them. I know some people are not happy about how little they get paid for them. But I think that's dumb to complain. On Saturday, March 9th, I came into Plato's to look for some Nike shoes. The positives: it's a very fun place to shop, upbeat environment, with friendly salespeople and fun music. Even though I'm in my early 40s when I come into the store I feel like a teenager again! I can usually find great brands here and save a lot of money. The negatives (this shopping experience): I had difficulty finding my size in shoes, as the shoes are arranged above the clothing racks, and the athletic shoes are intermixed with the dress shoes, so you have to really go through everything to see the entire selection. Also, the aisles are very narrow and it's difficult to walk past other shoppers without bumping into them, especially today, as it was pretty crowded. Overall, I had a good shopping experience, and will continue to shop at Platos to save money on brands that I love! read more

I used to enjoy shopping here, but today left me feeling rather annoyed. I've sold here a few times, so I know they are selective. I get that they can't take everything people bring in. That is understandable, but when the staff is pretentious, and reacts negatively to sorting the through people's items... this is behavior that should be kept in the little storage they have left in their brains, and kept to themselves. Perhaps if they find it fun they can chit chat about how awful they think people's items are after the store is closed for the night. Save the judgmental looks for later. Yeah...Of course, if I adored the clothes I brought in I would have kept them myself. I'd be surprised if everyone that brings clothes here really wants to keep them, but needs the $3 or 4 dollars they might get per item. The other funny thing about all of this is... you would think they'd have better clothes to choose from if they picked such new, high quality items. But I'm lucky if I find one pre worn thing that I like, that still looks good. They check the tags to see if the items were made in the last few years. I wonder if that rule would apply if they got vintage items. Also... if you are warm hearted and have pets that you love, triple wash your stuff, and lint roll it all before you bring it in. ***READ ME** (edit) - the girl who checked me out was very polite and was nice, but i did specify ask her if they wouldve called me the next day if they noticed the mistake and she said no. If anything double check what you bring in and take out because clearly they do neither. I took multiple name brand items to this location and when i picked my stuff up they and said they "couldnt take anthing" and to "try and bring it back when they are taking more stuff" WELL- When i got home i went through my stuff and they literally STOLE more than half of my clothes which included North Face, Patagonia, Lululemon, Calvin Klein, NHL merch.. ETC. When i called to ask them where all my stuff was they said "I guess you can come in and we can pay you out for the 22(!!!) items they took" I will never be coming back they have zero customer service and ended up blaming the new girls that clearly need to be trained better. Today I took in about 50 pieces of clothing, all in great condition that I had bought within the last year some even name brand and they only took 1 item. The item they took was an item I had purchased from goodwill. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME BRINGING CLOTHES IN. After looking around at the items they had and telling me my items were out of style was ridiculous. How can a pair of brand new leggings be out of Style? I have sold here many times but, I had gone in here the other day and brought 4 bags of clothes. I waited 2 hours to make sure there was enough time for them to go through and when I get there the bags weren't even moved from where I put them and they said they couldn't buy anything because they were covered in cobwebs and gross when all of the clothes I had brought in were clean clothes and the bags I brought weren't even opened by them at all. This visit was driven by my 16-year old, and I almost wish I didn't let her talk me into going, lol. I thought the whole concept was pretty neat, but she went absolutely bonkers in here. Granted, our experience was as consumers, and not trying to sell them anything. First of all never felt this poorly treated or disrespected in a clothing store before. Employees are extremely rude and literally couldn't give less of a shit about customers or being pleasant. My sister and I have given it a try a few times to get some money for our clothes. They want the oldest most wash worn clothes we bring in. The customer service is um, curt. I walked in, obviously there to try to consign, and no one greeted me or told me they'd see me in a moment. I think I stood around for 5-10 minutes before I had a window of time and spoke to one of the employees. I filled out all the paperwork, shopped around for 25+ minutes before I was told (by a rather older female employee) that my clothes were basically not young enough. They were brand new, brands like Forever 21 and Bebe were in that bag. But whatever. I think it would save a lot of time if they went through your stuff first and told you if they accepted anything before you filled anything out. They have a lot of stuff in there, don't get me wrong. I'm sure if you took the time you could find decent things. But some pieces in there just look ancient and WORN. People are extremely rude I don't know how this business is still running. They offered me 13$ for a pair of Lululemon shorts, a Victoria's Secret run top, and a new pair of gap jeans. Came in for the first time today and fell in love! All of the clothes are in amazing condition at a fraction of the cost of mall prices. Walked out with a haul of clothes at a steal. Not to mention the staff was SO friendly and helpful! I will definitely be back. I went in again (already lol) and I just wanted to mention that Emily, Sophie & Jay were all so awesome & helpful. The gift card machine wasn't working right when I was trying to purchase one and they were so patient and helped get it fixed right away for me. They were all so sweet too! Very DISPLEASED about the short girl who works in here.....if you're going to work in customer service then at least act like you like to be there!!! I HAVE NEVER been treated so rudely by anyone in this store until today!! I brought in a pair of shoes to be sold n am purchasing more and she acted like she was PUT OUT to take them, informing me of there pricing policy in what might have been the snottiest voice I have heard in a while (I work a drive through ) then walked off midway through and another gal finished it. After 15 minutes of looking around and gathering our purchases we went to the counter.
