Buford is a really busy location and time consuming to get to. Brought in 2 bags of clothes to sell. Was told it would take an hour to go through. So my husband and I went to the mall to Macy's and other places to eat up that time. Came back after an hour. They couldn't find my clothes. They had tons of bins/containers with other people's clothes. Finally, she found it in a container on a rack with my name taped on the outside. We wasted an hour for nothing to happen. Will never return. They get essentially tons of free clothes. Too bad this could go to a homeless community like Atlanta since Atlanta is now providing shelters for people from other states/cities under their dime. read more

Came in with my boyfriend expecting our close to be sorted within the hour, as promised by one of the workers. In the meantime we go and get something to eat and even take an extra 20 minutes to give them a little more time. Once it has been around an hour and a half my boyfriend goes in and is told it should be done soon. He comes back to the car a bit frustrated but we continue to wait. Another 35 minutes go by and he goes back inside seeing our clothes on the counter. When he asks "oh is this done" the worker replies with "oh no we're still sorting through it". this was a location I would go to often when I lived in the area. But every so often I'll come back to sell my clothes. I'll say this they have changed so much. They are the only location to have select hours for when their sell counter is open. Any other Platos that I've been to the counter, is always available from opening to close. I don't understand. But even when I do bring my items to this location. They only take a few items or they take nothing at all. when you look around the items that they have for sale. My stuff those great compared to what they have !! I don't know if it's the location that makes them feel like they have to be particular with the items that they select, but by the looks what's on the rack you couldn't tell. read more

I brought in cloths and took them 2 hours to look over my cloths when they said it would take less time. when I asked if they was done anytime soon, the girl with the huge fro made a nasty rude face as if it had bothered her to do her job lol. anyways after that they gave us back our cloths that they didnt want and i noticed they didnt even look through all of it. as most of the cloths was still in the same position when i dropped it off. so they basically wasted my time and got made at us when asking a question about the service they offer. and on top of that they basically didn't even do their job by checking all cloths. read more

I brought three pair of jeans into Plato's closet to sell. I was greeted by a woman at the door. And sent over to an associate named Jordan. Jordan greeted me and asked me for my jeans. (Miss Me, MEK. Both from Buckle) I laid them on the counter folded, he asked me for my phone number And proceeded to let me know that I will receive a text message. As I'm receiving my text message he says it's going to be an hour wait. I said OK that was fine. Out of the blue and without even looking at my jeans or unfolding them. He said "let me save you some time we are not going to take these." I have sold clothes at Plato's for the last six years. I have never had an associate not take one look at my items and tell me off the top, they were not going to take them. It was rude, and not Platos usual procedure. I love getting a great deal on gently used clothing. Whenever I can't find a good deal on the Internet, I drive over to this Plato's Closet location to scoop out what they have on their racks! The term "gently used" is debatable here. The Plato's Closet chain, in general, can sometimes have racks and racks full of very "not so gently used" clothes, especially tops. This location is no exception. I come across a lot of pilled sweaters and thread bare shirts in the racks. However, the jeans are usually all in great shape, as are the jackets and outerwear. However, the prices are so low that I can look past most of the clothes that are falling apart. I can usually find many (!) top quality brand name clothes for 75%-80% off what I would pay for at the mall! It takes a little searching, but it's worth it! Speaking of searching, this location has the tendency to waaaay overfill some of their racks. It's almost impossible to even see the clothes or pull the hangers off the racks when they're that over full! It can be a little frustrating. The staff is super nice here. There's always someone ready to ring you up or offer to take the clothes you're interested in and hold them in a bin for you behind the register until you're ready to check out. Overall, I really like this Plato's location! I just wish the quality of their garments was a little better, and the racks were a little more manageable for shoppers. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. First of all, their prices are horrible compared to how much they pay for your clothing. I've sold here several times and I leave with maybe $5 for the most expensive items in my basket. I went in today to sell 2 baskets full of name brand and never worn clothing and not a single item was taken. That was whatever, I don't know what I expected at this point cause they are notorious for this, but it was the customer service that got to me. When I walked in to pick up my clothing, no one spoke to me. When I told them I was there to pick up, a girl without a word really passive aggressively pointed to the counter. They then told me that they didn't take any of my stuff because it was out of style and my brands weren't good enough. Then told me that they don't take pajamas, claiming that what I brought in was pajamas. Y'all, not a single item I took in was pajamas. They also told me they couldn't take it because there was cat hair. Mind you, all my stuff was cleaned prior, and I've found items in there with stains, wrinkles, and SMELLY!!!! I left feeling embarrassed and honestly just ashamed. When I went back in to grab my 2nd basket, I heard them talking about me and how I was upset. Like yeah I'm upset, y'all were rude and didn't take my brandy Melville. Y'all will rue this day. read more

If i could give zero stars that would be more appropriate. I've been to the Buford Platos many times. They're not the best (Cumming & Duluth are much better if you're selling). Last Friday i stopped to drop off 2 bags. It was 2:30 and i was told counter was closed until 4:00. I asked if i came back Saturday at 10:00 would that work. They said yes. Went Saturday at 10:15 and was told counter closed until 1:00. So strike 3.....Monday CALLED before going over and they said yes bring clothes but wait is 2-3 hours. i asked if i could drop off and pick up next day....was told yes, sure, no problem. 20 minutes later i arrive and I'm told the counter is closed. Bunch of morons working there.....get your $hit together!!!! Never going back. read more

first of all, i brought clothes to sell and they told me it would take about two hours, and it took almost four hours. i don't live in the area and it was late so i asked if i could come back the next day and they told me no. second of all they took barely anything, all of my clothes were name brand and either brand new, never worn, or in great condition and they sent them all back with me after i waited a whole four hours. then while i was browsing i found a body suit WITH A STAIN where is snaps at the bottom which honestly made me so angry and disgusted!! how are you going to buy clothes with disgusting stains but not anything else? the employees were rude and this one girl was talking so quiet and fast that i don't even know what she said. read more

Amazing selection and very reasonable prices! Came in for the first time ever and even though I am a CA native I wanted to give them a try. They carried a wide selection of pretty much everything. Some tshirts were on the pricier side but ultimately I found a pair of semi new converse for $12 and another pair of semi new vans for $13. For the condition of both price of shoes, these were a steal. Also found a Calvin Klein shirt for work for under $6. Next time I am in GA I will definitely go again. Highly recommend. read more

There is only one nice girl named Annabelle that I worked with during the week and she gave me a decent quote for the Zara, Topshop, Cashmere Sweaters, Kate Spade purse and other on trend clothing I brought in. When I came back on the weekend it was PACKED and even though I brought in close to the same stuff the quote they gave me was basically trash. I mean like $6 for brand new designer shoes and boots. The second girl I worked with had a major attitude and kept saying that the reason why she priced a pair of sandals and a pair of brand new designer boots at the same price was because of "the computer." She then was able to double the offer to $12 once I made a fuss, but did not change any of the other items that I basically gave them for pennies on the dollar. If I wasn't in desperate need of cash I would've told them they are ROBBING PEOPLE and would never step foot in there again. Just know that no matter what you bring in, whether it is designer or name brand they will still quote you at a ridiculously low price. I brought in a pair of Doc Martins for a quote and the girl tried them on before she even gave me one. There should be regulations in place to stop these teenage girls who work there and clearly only want the good stuff for themselves. These amateurs are basically robbing people of their hard earned items and laughing in their faces, using the "computer" as an excuse. It's sad. I was curious about this store and just walked in it one day. This is apparently like a thrift store, except they've got a lot more stuff than your average "Goodwill" or a general thrift store. I scored a Dooney and Bourke purse for $25! Classic and I can carry it without having to be overly protective about it. When I found this purse, I had to secure it safely in my arms because another lady saw what I had found and started following me around the store until I finally purchased it and walked out, lol. :D You can also sell your used stuff back to them and they will pay you a price for it. I'll start off by saying that the staff is really rude. Every time I come in to shop I feel unwelcomed and like I'm an inconvenience to the staff. I used to really like this store. I've shopped at this location the most, because I'm in the area often. The past 4 times I've came here (2-4 weeks in between visits), I've left without buying anything. The selection has not been great. I've stopped shopping at this location lately because of both of those reasons. I do recommend the Athens location though. The staff is wonderful and they always have cute clothes. It's not the most convenient location for me personally, but it's worth going out of the way for now. read more

I bought a bunch of stuff here on clearance. The cashier did not remove the security plastic tag on one of the blouse. I went home and cut off all the tags and threw away the receipt not knowing that the plastic security thing was still on it. I went back to the store they refuse to take if off because I didn't have a receipt. I didn't keep the receipt because there are no returns on clearance items. The shirt was clearly used. I could not have stolen it from anywhere. Have some common sense people!!! BTW Plato's Closet Cumming has better staff and better stuff. read more

I'm a regular customer for this location. Been going here for about 4-5 years and probably spent honestly about $3000 on shoes and clothes from this store alone. I went to the store about 2 weeks ago with a positve attitude to buy an item I've called on hold but apparently when I arrived they told me it's already been sold. They said their policy is that they can't hold for more than 3 hours which I already was aware of but you can still hold the item if you call right before those three hours expired which I did. Talked to a sales representative and they told me they fully understand that I couldn't make it and they could hold it for longer til the store closed. He asked for my name and I told him and he said he'd put it on the side for me to come to purchase. Drove to the store from a long day of work and a far drive just to find out that they sold my reserved item. I understand mistakes because it can happen, but this is the fourth time happening. The first two times they honesty didn't care about my experience so they had a I don't care vibe. The third time the manager apologized and felt bad for me. The 4th time which was my recent visit another manager noticed it was me again and my prior experiences and told me about the policy once again which I told her the representative said he could hold it for me til close but she just said he wasn't aware of the "policy." She was nice about the whole thing and even offered a coupon for my next visit but I was just annoyed at the multiple occurrences that kept happening. I loved shopping here and most the reps know me. Their super friendly and even compliment on my outfits at times but something like these common incidents really doesn't make me feel satisfied with my experience with this store. I'm not saying since I spend a lot of money here I should get treated like royalty because that's the last thing on my agenda. I'm saying if you promise something to a loyal customer you shouldn't just take it lightly and try to make it up with a coupon especially if it's a repeating issue. I won't be shopping at this store anymore for a while but probably it won't make a difference to this company but I just wanted to state my latest experience with this store and how I felt. I have been going to plato's closet for years and years, back when their location was next to REI. I have faithfully purchased and sold items every season. Within shopping at plato's I purchased myself new items at boutiques such as Dress Up, Lizard Thicket, and Altard State as well and I always keep my clothes in great shape. I can count one time that I actually made more than $20 at plato's closet. I completely understand if my clothes were dirty at of style, but I occasionally receive gifts and purchase new items and end up not wearing them. I took an entire laundry basket full of clothes. I washed all of the clothes, dried/ironed all of them, and folded each individual item in the basket. Everything in my basket was not more than 6 months old. I get to plato's and they say the wait time is 1.5 hours, I thought that was fine because of the time, effort, style, and wear that I will get in my sale. After waiting in their unorganized and cluttered store, I get my clothes and have an offer for $9 for 4 items. 4/30 items......The excuse was that they were worn and out of style and dirty????? AND THEY TOSSED EVERYTHING BACK IN THE BASKET CRUMBLED UP IM DONE.. I just feel pure laziness because there are so many other baskets to be gone through. If you go through their stuff they have a few hello kitty t-shirt's, a garfield t-shirt or something with stains and pit stains????
