Instead, he stripped the floor down to bare wood, and then stained it a color I did not want, all the while telling me "no" to every option I requested. We had originally agreed that the piano in the room was not to be moved, yet his workers not only moved it into another room, they scratched the marble tile floor in that room. He left me with a bag of sawdust so heavy that Sanitation refused to lift it; I had to shovel it into 3 additional contractor bags to break up the weight. If only I'd read the Yelp reviews beforehand, I certainly would not have hired them.

I contacted the contractor to give him an opportunity to come back and address the problem. He scheduled an appointment but rescheduled it on the day of the appointment. We then agreed on a second appointment, but he did not show up and did not contact me. After that, I made several attempts to reach him by phone and text, all without a response. I ultimately asked him to refund the $400 so I could hire someone else to properly fix and replace the door. He did not respond to that request either. Problems can happen with any job, but what matters is how a contractor handles them. In this case, we paid for a door that failed within two months (after three times of being opened), and when I asked the contractor to make it right--or simply refund my money so I could have the work redone--he stopped responding. I would not recommend him. If you are considering hiring him, I strongly recommend getting everything in writing, including what happens if the work fails, before making payment.
