The Fool's Lantern was newly open (like pretty brand new!) and we saw the self-serve wine machines which are always fun. The four of us came in and the staff was super welcoming and didn't bat an eye at us just wanting to get some wine and hang out (versus getting food also). Our friends had a couple issues with using their card in the machine so ended up sharing ours. But you can attribute that to opening kinks! We had checked out their food menu and it looked good, so we actually came back a second time that day for lunch. We got a few tapas to share and I got the curry chicken salad sandwich. Overall, everything was really good and the staff was very nice. I hope they are successful in St Michaels!

The fries were outstanding and I could tell they went thru a multi-step, time consuming process to make them crunchy (probably a combination of rinsing and multiple frying in batches). For my entree, I got the thin crust meat, meat, meat pizza (sausage, pepperoni, meatballs) and it was great. A lot of meat, probably too much (sausage and meatballs would have been plenty; pepperoni made it a little oily, salty, soggy). Outside crust and red sauce were excellent; definitely would get again.

Each ingredient is elevated top quality and the texture of the homemade pastas is outstanding. To start, warm bread is served with fruity and delicious olive oil with a splash of balsamic. We ordered the Mediterranean Salad which comes with ample shaved Parmesan, high quality cherry tomatoes, olives and pistachios and a lemon vinaigrette. I wish the lettuce was mixed greens or romaine instead of iceberg but otherwise this was excellent. The Bruschetta comes with arugula instead of basil and is loaded and a generous portion for two. For entrees we ordered the Cacio Pepe and Pappardelle with Scallops and Shrimp and a creamy lemon sauce. All were fantastic. Very well done.

The staff are wonderfully patient! It has a quiet yet cheerful atmosphere. Mecca was our very caring waitstaff. Melissa was the Manager. My companion and I each had a concern, about which we spoke with Melissa. We said we'd mention these in our Yelp review. 1. I came in just after the restaurant opened at 11:30 am. To my horror, the floors were soaking wet. My walking stick (both I and my friend are senior citizens) nearly flew out of my hands. I nearly fell -- but caught myself. Such washing, important as it is, needs to be done -- and be thoroughly dry! -- well before ANY guests arrive! 2. My friend couldn't easily enter the restaurant because the door is very heavy and she couldn't reach the single cleat that was intended as a grab bar. A server came to her rescue and helped her inside. In order to keep us seniors independent and UNembarrased for as long as possible, more grab bars and a railing need to be installed at the primary entry as well as at the secondary one. The 2nd entrance, also on Talbot Street, should be available ALL THE TIME; this entry has no steps into the restaurant, and there are easily reachable tables right there. In many ways I highly recommend this restaurant, with the above-described cautions appropriately taken into account.

It wasn't warm, but it was soft. It was served with an olive oil. Our table ordered the steak, four cheese ravioli, Caesar salad and pasta with butter for the kids. Everything was extremely well! We liked the pasta with butter the best and that was for the kids! Lol. The wine is charged by the ounce. It's almost like a tasting of wines where you can pour it yourself. It was great to allow a chance to try a variety of wines. We stopped in our way to the beach and would like to make it a staple! The steak is not served every night. It is a Thursday-Sunday serving, so it's best to check the special mains as it's not a staple item on the menu.

We had called ahead and requested a booth, which was confirmed, but unfortunately that wasn't accommodated when we arrived. Our server was very nice, though she seemed a bit distracted while taking our order. Our sommelier gave great recommendations, but after the first pour, quite some time passed and we eventually poured the wine ourselves. The atmosphere is lovely--clean, comfortable, and upscale while still casual enough for families. For the food, I enjoyed the Caesar salad with anchovies. The lobster risotto was a miss for us--the risotto wasn't cooked quite right and the lobster was slightly overcooked. The scallops, however, were delicious! They also made buttered pasta for the kids, which they loved. The sommelier at the end really helped turn things around. The dessert wine we wanted wasn't available, so he graciously offered us complimentary wines instead--a very thoughtful touch. Overall, a nice restaurant with a lot of potential. I just wish the food had been a little more consistent and the service more attentive.

They were helpful, pleasant and just nice. There was a drink on the menu that had an unusual ingredient, Massenez Roquefort Liqueur, a blue cheese liqueur that sounded questionable. It was amazing, 3 out of 4 at the table loved it and the other liked it but it was a bit unusual for her. The food, while simple, was excellent. They don't have much of a kitchen but the salads, cheese plates, cold soup and the flatbreadwere excellent. Plenty of flavor, fresh ingredients and all had just a small twist that made everything standout. We tried all 3 desserts and all were great. The goat cheese tart with plums was a table favorite. Will we be back, YES. Will we bring friends here, YES. It is definitely one of my 2 favorite restaurants in Cambridge and that is only after 1 meal.

I ordered two glasses of sparkling rosé. Both were hefty pours :) there was a very wide selection of wines to choose from. The cocktail menu was super creative and drinks were names of songs by popular artists. I almost got the "Too Drunk to F***" but decided to save that for next time. The menu is limited, but enough choices to snack on and share without leaving hungry. We chose the marinated olives which were served with baguette slices. There were a variety of olives, including several types of green olives, and I believe some Kalamata olives. This was reminiscent of an olive tapenade which I almost would've given the bread that was served with it. We also ordered the cheese shortbread, which was tasty. We had narrowed it down to two flat breaths, but went with the caramelized onion flatbread. It did not disappoint. I love onions, so could have even went with a few more onions on there. It was the perfect size to share or as a standalone meal for one. We finished with the peach buttermilk cake. Again, it was the perfect portion to share. I especially loved the ice cream, which was smooth and a nice contrast to the peach buttermilk cake. The whole plate was the perfect amount of sweet without being overpowering!
