Had a great experience with Dr. diane Duncan and her team. I had Diastasis Recti (abdominal separation) from having polyhydramnios (too much amniotic fluid) with my first pregnancy 30 years ago. During the past 10 years is began to affect my quality of life. (back pain, weight gain, limiting my ability to hike and even ride a bicycle, etc.) It was also affecting my self esteem. Found Dr. Duncan and felt heard and cared for. All interactions have been friendly, professional, and prompt. I felt the care that I received was quite personal for my needs, including the way the anesthesiologist talked with me. Dr. Duncan performed, what I believe to have been a medically necessary abdominoplasty (tummy tuck). Even after just 9 weeks, I am so happy with the results, and am looking forward to the continued healing that will continue during the next few months for the full results. As much as I don't like rating a business low, it is important for those seeking professional advice to hear what other people experienced. I made an appt with Dr. Duncan to discuss my options and pros and cons. Despite having little reviews for guidance, her 30 years of experience satisfied me and I booked the $75 consult appt. The office is big- a bit older style but clean. Front desk staff is nice. Upon arrival, I completed my paperwork and was taken back pretty promptly for my appt. Once Dr. Duncan arrived, I explained to her my needs but without really asking questions, she began discussing another option that she studies and has brought into her practice. It was so far off the reason for my appt, I didn't really know what to say. Though interesting, I wasn't inclined to purse it though I went through the estimate process with her billing coordinator. A 10 min procedure was $2500 and Dr.Duncan said she hasn't done a lot of them. I just wasn't so confident about things with her. She seems nice enough but I wished more time with me on the subject I was there for would have happened. I felt dismissed in a way... If that makes any sense. I didn't get to fully explain things as I wanted. So much for the $75 consult fee! Just not the place for me. read more

I went to Dr. Duncan for a full tummy tuck, even after I had a friend beg me to not use her. I was happy with the results, but had told her I was a bout to have a back surgery, and would this effect my tummy. She stated no. about 6 months post back surgery my tummy tuck was ruined. Apparently they blew up my stomach with air to make room to work. I returned to Dr Diane to see what it would take to repair it. Full price of course, which is substantially more then other docs. Here's when the problem starts, she is actually blaming me for this outcome, like I ate my way out of my tummy tuck. Yes, gained some weight and have since lost it. Here's the real kicker, she treated me with disgust, looked down at me, belittled me, told me loss 20 pounds and come back! She was the most rude person, let alone doctor/professional I have ever met in 53 years and I've seen a lot of docs. I wouldn't recommend her to my worst enemy. No patient or human should be treated with such shame and disgust. The only reason she got 1 star is, I did not have a choice for zero stars, so I am giving my star to Robin and the rest of her crew, they were great and it must be a terrible job. Don't Go There!!! The worst experience of my life! Do your research before you make the worst mistake of your life! Infection, unprofessional service, a second corrective surgery, it was a nightmare and I have the scars to prove it. I had a breast reduction and tummy tuck 4 years ago and it still causes me problems. I should have filed a lawsuit against Dr Duncan but I didn't. Now I think about how many other people she has mistreated in the last 4 years. I wish I had the courage to speak up sooner. read more

Short version if you value your health and want a doctor that values your health don't look at Diane Duncan. Long version I took a couple years to get to the decision to have a breast augmentation. I looked at a few doctors and picked Diane. I am very physically active and let her know how important that was to me. Things went south when I had a large hole develop in my areola were a stitch tried to come out. This was 5 months post op. I called and let them know I was afraid of infection. I went in and they said don't worry not infected. A week later it was painful to raise my arm and the breast was starting to swell. I went in again. And that was when things got really bad. I asked what was going on and the next steps. Diane said she didn't have a crystal ball and what did she want me to do about it! I asked her for blood work to see if there was an infection and she said she didn't have the capability or see the point because it was a superfluous hole in my areola. My gut said infection. I asked several questions and she was not helpful or informative in anyway. I went that day for bloodwork and I did have an elevated white count an indicator of an infection. The nurse called back and said I could get the implant removed and she would give me a discount. I decided to get a second opinion. I was on antibiotic at this point and hoping that they would help and second surgery would not be necessary. By Friday of that same week it was obvious that the antibiotics were not helping and the swelling and pain was getting worse. I called Diane and she said not to call her after hours. When I asked if I could come in that Monday, she said I was nonemergent and that she had a busy Monday and she doubted it. I called Diane's office the next week asking what the discounted rate was so that I could compare to the 2nd opinion doctor. I let them know that things had gotten a lot worse and that the pain was constant. They did not call back. I called again and they then said I need to come in again to get that rate and then I could make an appointment for surgery at later date hopefully before the next month! I asked if I could talk to the nurse that I had talked to before regarding the infection and the rate. They wouldn't let me talk to her and said I had to come in. It was urgent at that point and it was obvious that they were blowing me off. I am not sure if its because discounted customer come second to full paying customers or if by not calling back and pushing dates and appointments that they were hoping to discourage me and have me go away. Which is what I did. I called the other doctor and let them know what had happened and they said they could get me in that day. Sadly, the implant did have to come out. And I decided to pull both. And option the second doctor had given me and mentally prepared me for at the first appointment with them. So long story I never heard back from Diane's office. I think you learn the most about someone's character when things go wrong. I filled a complaint with the board. She gets notified that I filed a complaint about patient abandonment. She never called after I filled. Before you pick a doctor know that you can not sue for an elective surgery. And the board did deny my complaint about patient abandonment. So, you have zero recourse if things go wrong. I paid almost 12K for a breast augmentation and lift and Diane treated me like dirt. She made me feel like my feelings about what was going wrong with my body was nothing. And then when my body started to show signs of something wrong, she made me call over and over and feel like I was begging for care. I hope this helps when deciding what doctor to pick and which to avoid. I hope that my story prevents others from going through this. If she had talked to me like the second doctor saying she isn't sure what is wrong but she will get me better. And that it may not be the outcome I am hoping for but she and her office will be there for anything. That could have made a bad situation better. But her care made a bad situation worse. Side note: After the implants were removed, I thought the pain would be gone from lifting my arm. Well it wasn't a contracture it was an infection and it was building a lot of scar tissue. That scar tissue limited my range of motion and it didn't improve after the implant removal. It also deformed my breast. One is "U" shaped at the bottom like a normal breast. The other is "W" shaped from where the infection made my breast pull in. It's like a permanent dimple. I have since been going to physical therapy to try to get that range of motion back. Losing the implants, time, energy, and money was one thing. But realizing I may have permanent damage to my health due to this has be eye opening. I am grateful to the second doctor (Dr. Warren Schutte) for their fast response and stopping the infection from causing more damage. If I had stayed with Diane it may have taken weeks to months to have anything done. read more

I went to Dr Duncan in Sept 2001 for a breast reduction and tummy tuck. She arrived to see me pre/op in the hospital with road rash all over her face and her right hand and arm in a sling and cast. She informed me that she had a bicycle accident 1 day prior and could use some of her right/dominant hand but that her surgery assistant would be there to "help her". Since I was already prepped for surgery and could not rearrange my or my husbands schedule we accepted that everything would be ok. My breasts were reduced but I had what she referred to as "dog ears" at the sides of my breasts. Little flaps of skin that stick out. They are still after 17 yrs quite annoying. She said without using her "good hand" that was the best she could do. Due to complications of the anesthesia with my Fibromyalgia, which I told her AND the Anesthesia Dr. about repeatedly, after being in surgery for almost 8 hrs. for what should have been 2 if she had use of both hands, I lost all use of both my arms & hands and was in horrible, excruciating pain and what was to be 1 nt in hospital turned into 1 wk as no Dr knew how to fix my arm/hand problem. Dr Duncan actually asked my husband if I "was an hysterical type person just looking for attention as I could not possibly be in such pain". He was furious and said in 17 yrs and numerous back surgeries he had never seen me in such pain and I am not one to complain about anything. I was sent home after 7 1/2 days with pills "they thought" might work. It took 3 months to get sensation back in both arms/hands and 9 mos. to gain full mobility. I would not go near this quack ever again. Never received 1 phone call from her office for aftercare or to check on how I was doing. Luckily my Ins. would not pay for the surgical center she wanted to use. The hospital Drs. called me for months checking on my arms and hands but not one call from her office! While I was there for a reduction only, she tried to upsell me on the tummy tuck and spent most of her time trying to sell me on her other programs: Lipo, botox, 360 body lift, almost everything she does. In 2001 I was only 37 and didn't need most of what she wanted to do. I give her 1 star only because of her staff. read more

I did not do as much research before my neck lift as I should have. I had a neck lift, some fat transfer in face and laser. My total cost was $22,500.00, double the cost of having it elsewhere. The results were ok, but the cost was ridiculous, no one should be able to take advantage of people like that. Also there were a lot of screw ups in appointments. Just be sure to do ALOT of research before scheduling your surgery, I don't know anyone who wants to over pay anything by 12 to 15 thousand dollars. read more

I'm a 51-year-old woman who had a breast reduction 1 year ago performed by Dr. Duncan. I cannot express how happy I am with the results. Dr. Duncan was very blunt in informing me how much the success of this surgery depended on my adherence to aftercare. She was realistic on what type of results to expect, in other words, don't expect you will look 17 again. My total recovery took a year. I felt better each month and the results are not only aesthetically pleasing but I have not suffered the headaches, shoulder pain, back pain and self-consciousness I felt for decades. I would recommend this procedure if any of these conditions have been a problem. I will tell you exactly what she told me, the success of the surgery is also your responsibility in aftercare instructions. It may take the full year after surgery to see all the benefits and not feel discomfort. Her staff was wonderful to me when I would be frustrated with any pain or constant questions I had post surgery. If they didn't know the answer, they would tell me so and get back to me ASAP with the answer. In any surgery there is risk involved and I empathize with those on here who have had infections, etc. This is just my experience. read more
