This Maison Istanbul offers a limited selection of grilled meats and typical mediterrenean style dishes like kebabs or doner plates. Unfortunately, I found the selection boring and surprised they did not have any beef options. It is not mentioned on the menu, but many of their kebabs are actually lamb and the "filet mignon" option is veal as I was informed by the server. The "mix" plate is just lamb and chicken. The dishes are generous in size however lack sauces to accompany the meat or bread. If you are used to having garlic sauce or hummus to accompany your side, everything here comes at an extra. Service was also very slow and server made little effort to explain the menu or specials. As there are no descriptions or pictures, it is not ideal to try out new things. We were left alone for so long and never offered any refills on drinks plus when come time to pay, we were also not instructed that we had to go up to the counter. I can't imagine leaving a tip if everything is self serve. This may be an ideal place for a quick lunch or for take out but I would not recommend dining in as it feels too much like a cafeteria. The stand outs were the vegan platter (just everything was delicious, and I'm not vegan) and the Chicken Taouck (marinated in a garlic and pomegranate molasses sauce that was just brilliant). The restaurant has two levels, with the upper level overseeing the lower one. We walked in without a reservation and they accommodated us (party of 7). Very professional staff to say the least. They offer food by both a menu and per person formula, where you can pick a salad (tabbouleh or fattoush), two cold mezza, two hot mezza, 4 skewers of grilled meat of either filet mignon, chicken kafta, beef kafta, or shish taouk, and a dessert, all for two people for 60 Canadian dollars per person. You can pick any combination of skewers, cold mezza and hot mezza. Food came quickly. Everything was perfectly prepared, from the mezza to the grilled meat on charcoal, and finally the dessert.
