Working with Planting Seeds Tutoring has been the best employment experience I have had, despite working with them after COVID. The owner is very understanding of his employees as long as communication is open and he is a leader as well as a manager. The students are all unique! My favorite thing has been getting to focus on smaller groups and individuals, which previously I was not ever able to do in the classroom. I really feel that Planting Seeds is the missing puzzle piece from the imperfect American education system. Those students who fall through the cracks because they have different abilities or needs are taken care of and nurtured adequately with PST. I have fallen in love with my students and love being able to teach both online and occasionally in person! I have had more flexibility with scheduling than ever before in any other job, which makes everything so much less stressful. Every student and their guardian(s) are different, which makes it easy to stay engaged in teaching. Chris and the staff of PST provide plenty of support any time I ask for it, and have also nurtured me as a person and educator. I strongly recommend applying here if you have any interest whatsoever in educating and empowering. Another aspect of PST that has been refreshing is that both the staff and the clients are very diverse, from all backgrounds. Not all education organizations are diverse, sadly, which can be subtly disempowering to all kind of students. PST has instructors of all kinds of backgrounds, including those of us with learning disabilities that we have overcome ourselves! This gives us a unique perspective as educators because there is a level of empathy and understanding that most educators, frankly, don't have. It is so wonderful to be able to create lesson plans that cater to the needs of my students, not to state testing standards or any other predetermined curriculum. My 12 year old son needed help with his writing and I had never hired a tutor before. After calling several tutoring companies, I met with Chris. He was accommodating and my son felt comfortable around him, which helped with the assessment. I sent the assessment to the classroom teacher to see if this company was on target with what my son needed, and she agreed 100% with the assessment results. Then we met my son's tutor, Jennifer. She was so patient with my son and his writing struggles. She was flexible with our schedule. After school my son would be tired, or on the weekend he would get bad cases of the wiggles. She was patient and understanding with both. In addition, after just a few weeks of tutoring my son's classroom teacher noticed a marked improvement in his writing abilities. Great financial workshop! Great staff! This company is teaching kids about the importance of finances and how they are used.
