Specialties
Looking to improve your Spanish or Portuguese? Interested in exploring your musicality and creativity? I’ve worked for more than a decade with students of all ages and levels to build confidence in speaking, writing, and comprehension. I’m fluent in both languages and trained through Mariposa Spanish School, and I specialize in making language learning engaging through fun games, music, and cultural exploration.
My lessons often incorporate culture, geography, rhythm, and song to help students connect with language in a lively and memorable way. I offer after-school in-home lessons for younger students, middle and high school coursework support, adult lunchtime lessons, and conversational practice.
As a professional musician, I also offer music lessons and creative mentorship. I specialize in helping people of all ages explore their creativity through singing, songwriting, musicality, writing, and performance, with structured yet supportive guidance that builds confidence and self-expression.
History
Established in 2014.
I began tutoring privately after returning from living abroad in different parts of Latin America. In Austin, there is a high demand Spanish speakers and a rapidly growing interest in learning. Over the years, I've worked with more and more students, diversifying my experience and enabling me to refine my curriculum and teaching techniques. Now, I've worked with over 100 students and varying levels between the ages of 3 and 50. Both private and group lessons include a unique plan to follow the progress of students. I tremendously enjoy serving the Austin community to better communicate, connect, and understand others.
Meet the Business Owner: Emilie B.
I am native to Austin, Texas and continue to call it home. After I graduated early from high school, I spent one year in Argentina to study my family history and the Spanish language. Enamored and inspired by living abroad, I began my higher education at the University of Texas Austin in Latin American Studies and Geography where I spent my last semester abroad in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Through extensive travel, I have acquired complete fluency (oral, written, and comprehensive) in both Spanish and Portuguese, and have often been mistaken for a native speaker. Traveling has also given me the opportunity to study traditional folklore music around the world that I incorporate into my language lessons. I am dedicated to sharing my passion and love for Latin America in hopes of encouraging more cross-cultural connection within our communities. I also specialize in facilitating songwriting, poetry, and creative outlets, especially in music.
