Hair in my drink
Mel B.

Hair in my drink! The worst boba drinks that we've ever tried. Flavorless boba balls with watered down flavorless drinks. To top it all off, there was a nasty black short hair in my drink! Lost my appetite. Definitely not the best experience. Will not be returning

Coffee/Tea Counter. Thoughtful Knowledgeable Baristas, Unique Drinks Made W/ Love (+ Caffeine, CBD, CBG, HHC, THC if you're in the mood!).
Joseph H.

Plant Bar iis a wonderful coffee and tea house with a fully integrated cannabis dispensary and all of the peripheral goodies you'd expect (CBD, CBG, CNN, HHC, THC) in the form of edibles, prepare drinks, bottled/canned drinks, etc. The place also has a really great super chill relaxing inviting "living room" vibe. You can tell that the staff is so friendly and there is such a sense of community here that the line between "baristas" and "regulars" is pleasantly smudged. You really feel at home here from the first time you step in the door. They also have a lot of plants, thoughtful decorations, and the type of unique menu items that really drive home how much they care about the ambiance and you person experience as a patron. I had the "Uplift Espresso Tonic" which was a lovely experience for working remotely as it both and chilled / relaxed me with Caffeine, CBD/CBG, Lion's Mane, and B12. My drink was lovingly prepared by Raevyn who was patient and knowledgeable in fielding my questions about "CBD vs CBG". I highly recommend this place to any tourists or locals looking for a super homey environment with "instantly familiar" vibes to relax, caffeinate, and / or stock up on your personal cannabis vehicle(s) of choice.

We hit Battle Cat on a rainy day as we headed out of Asheville following a long weekend…read more It's a small place with a laid back vibe and best of all, super friendly staff and good coffee. There's also some art on the wall, which you can purchase and, I did! They have a few food options as well, and we grabbed a sausage kolache and toasted bagel to munch on in the car on the way home. The sausage was more hotdog than sausage, but then again, a hotdog is a sausage so there you go! Could definitely see Battle Cat being a regular stop if I lived in that part of Asheville.

COFFEE, KOLACHES, AND MORE! (Even alcohol!)…read more I try to avoid Haywood Road however when I heard they have kolaches here I had to come try them. This joint has now become one of my study session go-to spots! My current favorite coffee in town is the fall menu Sweet Potato Marshmallow Latte! Kolache selections vary depending on the time of day, as they're made fresh in small batches. My favorites are the jalapeño egg and the sausage gravy flavors. Inside seating is adequate, and there are some tables with access to outlets. Staff has always been friendly. Music selection is usually really good! The downside is the parking, there is a decent amount of street parking, especially compared to Haywood Road more west of here. I've never had a problem getting a spot during morning/early afternoon on any day of the week. If you're on the opposite side and trying to walk across the street, cars don't stop for you at the crosswalk in my experience

Rowan Coffee in Asheville is the kind of spot that instantly makes you want to become a regular…read more Atmosphere and vibe Rowan hits that sweet spot between cozy neighborhood café and polished specialty coffee bar, with warm wood, thoughtful design, and a calm, unhurried energy that makes it easy to linger. It feels intentionally put together without being fussy, the kind of place where you can savor a slow morning or catch up with friends and still hear each other talk. Coffee and vanilla lattes The vanilla lattes were beautifully balanced: smooth espresso, creamy milk, and a vanilla note that tasted more like a crafted flavor than a syrupy afterthought. They were the kind of drink you notice sip by sip--no bitterness, no burn, just a clean, rounded cup that shows how serious Rowan is about its coffee program. Pastries: apple brie galette The apple brie galette was a standout, layering gentle sweetness from the apples with the subtle richness of brie in a flaky, buttery crust that felt more like a bakery feature than a "typical" coffee shop pastry. It paired perfectly with the latte, giving that sweet-savory bite that makes you slow down and actually enjoy breakfast instead of just grabbing something on the go. Pastries: apricot pistachio galette The apricot pistachio galette was equally memorable, with bright, tangy apricot lifted by the nutty crunch of pistachios, again in a delicate, well-baked crust. Together, the flavors were sophisticated without being pretentious--approachable, interesting, and exactly what you hope to find in a city known for its food and drink. Service and overall impression Service matched the quality of the menu: friendly, patient baristas who clearly know their craft and are happy to guide you without any trace of attitude. Rowan Coffee is the rare place where the coffee, food, and atmosphere all show the same level of care, and after vanilla lattes plus an apple brie and apricot pistachio galette, it becomes an easy "don't miss this" recommendation for Asheville.

Rowan Coffee in downtown Asheville is the kind of shop that immediately signals serious attention…read moreto craft. One thing that stood out to me right away: the barista pulling espresso shots while weighing each pull from start to finish. That level of precision is exactly the kind of detail that makes a coffee nerd like me smile. It shows they care about consistency and dialing things in, not just pushing drinks across the bar. The shop itself has a really cool aesthetic -- minimalist but warm -- with a quiet corner vibe that makes it a great place to slow down and actually enjoy what you're drinking. I started with a cortado, which was beautifully balanced. The espresso came through clearly while the milk softened it just enough -- smooth, rich, and exactly what a cortado should be. Then I tried both of their seasonal drinks. Roses Are Falling (no mocha) was delicate and aromatic, with floral notes that felt intentional rather than perfumey. It was subtle, interesting, and really well composed. I also had the Hello Ruby, which brought a brighter flavor profile and rounded out the experience nicely. Both drinks showed a lot of creativity without losing the coffee itself. Between the precision behind the bar, the thoughtful drink menu, and the calm, stylish space, Rowan is a standout coffee stop in Asheville. Definitely a place for people who appreciate the craft behind the cup.
