I have Dupuytrens' Contracture in my left hand impacting my middle, ring, and little fingers and have just completed close sixteen months of Occupational Therapy (OT). This second round of OT was necessary because I had digit widgets on the three impacted fingers and my OT did another incredible and phenomenal job of restoring the range of motion and activity in my hand. Excellent experience here. They provided just what I needed and I wasn't rushed or treated like a number. It was thoughtful and measured care, and they took their time with me. I got an Rx for this place through Plano Orthopedic Sports Medicine & Spine Center. This place is by Rx only - you can't just show up and hope your insurance will cover it. From the outside at a glance, it could be a gym. They have lots of "workout" machines visible from the window. Upon closer inspection, they also have lot of tables and people doing... well, rehab-y looking exercises. :) I had a 3 PM appt, and I'm glad I didn't plan to come back to the office. I was told the visit would take some time, and it did. I had to wait for a bit, but not too long. Then I was called back and answered a bunch of the same questions and gave the same rundown that I'd given at Plano Orthopedic Sports Medicine. They guy evaluated the flexibility of my legs and a few pain points, and we started working on some stretches. It was all very laid back, and I never felt rushed. I felt like I was being paid plenty of attention for my issue. I got lots of good tips, including how to avoid over-paying for stretching straps. There was no pressure to schedule another appt because stretching was the solution to my problems, and I could stretch at home. So he left a follow-up appt to me, if my pain continued and I wasn't seeing progress, etc. The guy was personable, easy to talk to, and very laid back the whole time - while very knowledgeable and patient with all my questions. Everyone else in there looked well-attended to as well. For being a rehab place that could be dismal and depressing, it had a good vibe. Funny note. This place is right next to a crossfit place and in the same parking lot as True Spirits (best liquor store in North Dallas). So you can get drunk, go attempt crossfit, and then come get some rehab after you hurt yourself! What a combo! That's some smart planning right there... read more

I've never written a review on YELP before but I feel so passionate about this place I just had to. If you're looking for a great physical therapist, this is the location to go to. This is honestly the very BEST place for physical therapy and I have been to a couple others for different injuries! I've been going here for the last 5 months after my right knee ACL surgery and they've continually taken the very best care of not only me but all of their patients. Lisa is the only reason I have made progress thus far & I would be lost without her. She helped me when I came in all bruised up after surgery. The techs check on me and work tirelessly to make sure everyone is well taken care of in a timely manner. Very professional, courteous, friendly, and all highly skilled therapist. After months of debilitating pain, I went through massive foot surgery. (Can you say "bone saw" ?). My post-op recovery time was nearly two months. I will admit, I was worried that I would never walk normally again. Upon arrival at the Plano Therapy Center, I was so happy to meet Dr. Monica! She talked to me and assured me that I would indeed walk again. She developed a specialized program of therapy for me. She was so kind, and immediately earned my confidence. It took a while, but I am now walking normally! I will admit, I didn't realize the benefits of physical therapy, and I almost didn't go; I can tell you, I would not have attained the level of rehabilitation that I now enjoy, had it not been for Dr. Monica and her team. I've read the other reviews and I can't say I disagree with them much. I've had similar experiences, especially the behavior of the director and the conversations I overhear. I find several of the younger men to often be condescending and somewhat self absorbed. I completely understand how one can feel they aren't important to this practice. I'm afraid I'd also have to agree that you are often left unsupervised to do your exercises - although, I'm not as bothered by that as some. I'm such a long term patient due to the nature of my injury, I'm ok with being left alone to work. However, I very much appreciate my own therapist and I see several others who I also believe are very good and work well with their patients. I know I have gotten better because of my work at PTC. read more

When I walked (if you can call it that) into Plano Therapy I was in a lot of pain. I had knee surgery a few days prior and was very stiff. The therapist at Plano Therapy assured me that I would feel much better by the time I left there that day. And he was right. I did everything exactly as prescribed (including home exercises) and was walking normally a week later. I personally don't need someone to stare at me while I stretch or perform flexibility exercises. I will say that you are being monitored even when you think you are not. I have had my form corrected from across the room more than once (and I appreciated it!). I enjoy the positive atmosphere of Plano Therapy and appreciate the job the therapists are doing to help me to a full recovery. I have been to other physical therepy centers in the past and find the techniques used here to be similar to other places. read more

Therapists are great, in my experience/Business office terrible! I had really good experience with the two therapists I worked with - Julie and Monica. I thought they were both very professional. I have read the other comments about exercising unsupervised and, I agree that this occurs but mainly after they have showed you the exercises and expect you to takes some personal responsibility in knowing them. They do watch from time to time to make sure you are doing it right, they're just not standing next to you coaching you 100% of the time. On the business/financial side, I find this place a bit unscrupulous at worst and indifferent at best. My injury occurred Jan 3 so I was starting my out of pocket deductible anew for the year. However, within one week I had already reached my out of pocket deductible due to ER visit, X rays, MD visit and MRI. Every time I went to therapy (initially ordered for 3x per week) I would mention that I had paid out of pocket more than my limit already and should no longer have to pay 100%. They kept telling me that my claims were not showing up yet, which could have been true INITIALLY. For the first three weeks I was paying approximately $750/week for physical therapy. On Jan 29, according to one statement I received, they knew that I had met my deductible. They surely must have seen at this time also that they were going to owe me a refund, but continued to charge me 20% at each visit, until about mid February I refused to pay them anymore. They agreed and said they would settle the account at end of month (meaning the end of February), because they submit all their claims only once a month at month end or something. They acknowledged that I would be getting back close to $1500 at that point. Since the orthopedist ordered 4 more weeks of therapy, my appointments continued into the first week of March. At that time, they told me they would not settle my account until the end of March. This upset me just a little. I spoke to the business office manager who assured me she would see if my refund could be expedited. It is now April 9th, with no sign of a refund. I have not had an appointment since the first week of March. In short, if you go to a doctor that is part owner of this clinic (i.e Plano Orthopedic Sports Medicine), you should insist that they write a generic prescription for physical therapy that you can shop around/take to any PT clinic. I am sure there are equally good PTs elsewhere. Still waiting on my money back! read more

I want to preface by saying that my experience wasn't entirely negative and I gave this place the benefit of the doubt for a long time, but there were certain key aspects that I felt were lacking. Let me start by saying that if you want individualized, personal attention for your condition/injury that this isn't a good place for that. I had Lisa Free as my PT and I thought she was knowledgeable and helped me a lot when I was at Allen Therapy Center, but I felt she was overwhelmed at this therapy center and couldn't give me the individualized attention I was looking for. The techs are friendly and do want to help you, but I think they're also kind of overwhelmed with the volume of people they have to take care of. I had a serious foot fracture where I had a surgery to fix the fracture and then recently, had a surgery to remove the hardware and wanted to improve the strength and mobility around my ankle. There are too few PT's for the volume of patients at this place but to be quite honest, even when I went on a Friday afternoon and was by myself, I was STILL neglected and the tech/PT that were there weren't even watching me and they were just talking amongst themselves about weekend plans and such. Also, I don't appreciate how the PT basically hands you off to the techs after the first session. Sure, they'll sit with you at the end to do manual work but while I'm exercising, basically zero attention is paid to how I'm doing the exercises and if there is any attention paid, I'm unaware because there's almost no communication. Furthermore, the techs would CONSISTENTLY forget to update my program when I had a program change and would keep telling me the wrong exercise. While my experience wasn't the worst, I still think these are serious red flags in a physical therapy center. read more

This review is for Plano Therapy Center which is owned by Plano Orthopedic Sports Medicine and Spine Center. My experience with this therapy place has been mixed at best. While the therapy side seems to be run-of-the-mill ok, the staff seems largely uninterested and bored with their jobs. They also have the quite annoying habit of constantly talking amongst themselves, even when working on/with a patient. The topics range from sports talk to rather personal information, and staff can frequently be seen and heard yawning. Strangely enough most of this behavior is initiated by their Clinical Director, Philip Crossland, who can be heard most of the time talking across several therapy stations, ignoring both his own patient and other clients. This does not make for a good, welcoming or professional atmosphere, and because they are so busy communicating with each other, I as the patient often felt side-lined and unimportant. I feel that in the medical field it is especially unacceptable if the patient is left mostly to his or her own devices, potentially making mistakes when doing his/her exercises. I for one am not too impressed with this place. read more

I agree with everyone's reviews!! It is the worst place to get therapy and the sad thing is when I told my physician (they all are partners in owning) he could care less. Debby cox is who I would see. She is very busy and really the only true professional there. One day debby was busy and I had to see Phillip and wow that was a waste of a co pay. Just like the others say he is the most unprofessional guy there. As he was "working" on my neck (which was basically just putting his hands under it) he was telling one of the assistants to show some football replay on youtube to another patient. He went to repeat this replay to half the staff there and then went on to talk about hunting. Needless to say no work was done to my neck that day. It literally feels like you r in high school with people gossipping and just playing around. No one supervised me on my exercises - debby saw me on time and got upset that no one was aligning me right. I was picked up on by one of the assistants which was really uncomfortable when he knew I was married with kids. I took my script somewhere else and actually stopped seeing my doc there. Everyrhing associated with plano ortho just was unprofessional to me. If u need great care i would go to Peak or Edge Physical therapy. I found them to be much more professional and not a frat party! read more

I had a very underwhelming experience here. The first 2 weeks were ok as I received more one one one treatment from the physical therapists since i recently had surgery.This rapidly deteriorated however. Over the course of the next 2.5 months I progressively improved with little to no help from the staff. Upon arriving I would begin my exercises on my own and do at least 80% of the routine without any assistance from staff. This continued for weeks. The unprofessional atmosphere combined with the actual therapists handling, at times, up to 5 or more patients was inexcusable. $20 copay a visit to work out and stretch on your own is not worth it. To this day my range of motion is affected and I will likely have long term health concerns because of it. I am seeking additional PT now to correct what has been damaged. PT's should have 2 patients at a time and work directly with them. If your Plano orthopedic doctor says to go here. DON'T!! read more
