Planned Parenthood is a nonprofit organization that provides reproductive and sexual healthcare services such as STD testing, cancer screening (breast, gynecological, HPV-related cancers, testicular cancers, etc.), birth control, abortion, pregnancy (find out if you could be pregnant), emergency contraception (morning after pill - safe and effective way to prevent pregnancy up to 5 days after unprotected sex), and more. This Carson office is located in a plaza that's currently going through construction due to new addition of Sprouts Farmers Market, but the office remains open. [Parking]: Easy and free parking. [Appointment]: I actually didn't make a prior appointment and simply walked in. I was able to get an appointment on the spot (arrived at 3:30 PM and left at 4:30 PM on a weekday). [Price]: Out of pocket STD blood testing & HIV rapid testing (result ready in 20 minutes) was appromxately $260, but I recall visitors can fill out a form and apply for state subsidies (qualification is based on income). You can ask for HIV blood test instead of rapid test if you are not in hurry to get a result and rapid test requires fingerstick blood sample. Cost for STD treatment will be charged separately (if necessary). To my surprise, I actually wasn't charged a dime this time despite not covered by my insurance vs I had to pay a full amount at another Planned Parenthood location. [Service]: The process for routine STI tests is very simple and straightforward. Super friendly staff and the doctor offered a bag of free latex condoms. Some STD test results like syphilis and HIV were ready in 2 days, but other STD test results like chlamydia and gonorrhea took 7 - 10 business days. The clinic will only call if there is any positive test result & provide follow-up STD treatment options. [Conclusion]: Again Planned Parenthood continues to be the ultimate no judgement zone. I like the staff from this location and I can see myself coming back here if I need more routine STI tests in foreseeable future. read more

I've been here serval times and maybe after my 4th visit, I can give this place a solid great rating. I've come here for sti testing, implant removal, and other services. I've always been treated with respect, minimal wait time, and the facility is clean. All the nurses who have helped me with things other than a basic screening have all been so nice and professional. The location is great as well and parking is easy to find. Definitely one of the more quiet locations which I appreciate. I scheduled an appointment at this location because of the reviews that I read. Maybe I went on a wrong day or I don't know. But I did not have the same experience. I scheduled an appt at 1:45pm to avoid the long wait. I arrived at 1:20 to be sure I filled my papers out. Finished with papers at 1:25. And the waiting game begins. A lady walked in at 1:35/1:40 and her appt was at 1:30pm. So she came late for her appt. I watched 3 people go before me. INCLUDING the lady who was late for her appt go AHEAD of me. The reason why I came early before my appt was to be sure I was seen at least around my appointment time. But instead I waited for almost TWO hours to be called. The staffs are LAZY. There were no more CLEAN clipboards and they didn't clean it until last minute! People had to reuse the clipboards in the "DO NOT USE" bin. Same issues with the pens. I am disappointed with my experience here. I ended up LEAVING because it was soooo ridiculous. Waiting almost 2 hours, arriving early, AND someone who came late went ahead of me. I know this is PP and I'm not expecting 5 star service but I definitely didn't expect to wait almost 2 hours for an APPOINTMENT TIME. Key word APPOINTMENT. I was NOT a walk in patient. Todays appointment was a bit irritating due to the way the lady talked to me @ check in. she is sitting on the left side with long pinned back pigtails. I walked in w another girl she checked in and started to do her paperwork. I arrived 15 minutes before my appointment. I stood at the front counter without anyone saying to me but I didn't want my appointment to go past its grace period. So I told the lady at the front counter I'm here to check in for my appointment at 12:20pm at 12:20pm on the dot. She rudely told me "I'm only one person" and told me to wait which is fine but her attitude and tone was nasty very. Another lady walked up and checked me in. I'm interested in scheduling my next appointment at a different office. It's low vibrational vibes at this location. read more

Update: THEY FIXED IT! I appreciate them calling me back and making sure that everything is correct. So I went in for routine stuff. I fill out the form, and I get access to my portal. I filled out on the form I'm White as my race, but I am also Hispanic or Latino. On my portal they said I wasn't Hispanic or Latino. I went out front and I asked them to correct it. It says I'm still not Hispanic or Latino. (My appointment was at 11:15 and it's 5:57 currently) Other than that it's a great place and very secure, no protesters. They lost my driver license and claimed that I never gave it to them in the first place , a week later guess they found it and told me to come in to pick it up . I had to reschedule another appointment because they couldn't attend me without a id and not only that but when I came in to pick up my driver license they told me they couldn't give it to me because it was held in a cabinet that only the manager can open so I didn't get attended twice . I walked in early for my 9AM appointment as soon as I came in I stood in front of the desk for a couple of minutes and the ladies just stared without saying anything no welcome or we'll be with you in a moment I went to go sit down because no one was telling me anything. I understand if the staff is busy but am I also supposed to know when it's okay to talk to them? 15 minutes pass by after my appointment and someone else walks in. She gets greeted and checked in immediately. I was really disappointed with this experience people are already coming in nervous or uncomfortable the least the staff can do is make you feel comfortable or tell you what to do. Am i supposed to know what to do or where to go? I went in on 1/7 around 9AM I would say to retrain the ladies at the front or get a different job if you're not big on customer service. Horrible experience for IUD removal. They had me waiting 40mins butt naked. When nurse began she wasn't even telling me what she was doing and didn't put any numbing gel to help me relax. She couldn't find the device and continue to sweep for it &still hurting me. When she finally found it she said "found it don't move" and yanked it out without any warning or countdown. She laughed. I shouted and began to cry. I felt like I was just stabbed in my uterus. She traumatized me... I don't ever want to be seen by any of their staff ever again.
