Hello, I want to share my experience with Nova West Energy. While I was in the market to add a…read moresolar system to work alongside my existing one, I interviewed about seven different companies. I took my time researching, reading reviews, evaluating customer service, and even checking the Better Business Bureau. After all of that, I narrowed it down to two companies, Nova Energy and another local company in Fresno.Ultimately, I chose the other company because they hold a roofing license as well. This was very important to me due to a previous bad experience with SolarCity damaging my roof and not fixing it. I ended up fixing it out of pocket. That being said, Nova Energy truly stood out. Justin took the time to thoroughly educate me and presented a very well-designed system tailored to my needs. Honestly, I would have gone with them if it weren't for my prior experience and specific concerns. What impressed me most is that they genuinely care about their customers. Even knowing I was comparing multiple companies, they were patient, transparent, and focused on making sure I understood exactly what I needed for my home. Even after I told Justin I had decided to go with another company, he still took the time to make sure I was fully informed. He reviewed key details with me such as solar panel quality, system performance stats, degradation rates, and the difference between kW and kWh, just to ensure I was making the best decision for my home. That level of professionalism and integrity really stood out. In today's world, many companies treat business as just a transaction, sell a product and move on. Nova Energy is different. They take the time to understand your needs, educate you, and guide you without pressure. Their approach is honest, professional, and customer centered. Their pricing is very competitive, and they don't try to oversell. Instead, they explain your actual energy usage and make sure you don't overproduce unnecessarily. That level of integrity is rare. They also have excellent reviews, offer a strong 25-year roof warranty, and clearly stand behind their work. Even though they didn't end up installing my system, I believe my hesitation around roofing, despite them having a 25 roofing policy, was more related to my previous negative experience and my need for extra reassurance. If anything, if you are in the market for a solar system, I strongly recommend giving Justin a call. He is honest in his evaluation, does not try to oversell, and takes the time to answer every question you may have.

Our family has been a victim of PG&E's expensive and unethical practices for years, and the approach to this install was very important to us. Jason is a true master of his craft, bringing intelligence, creative insight, and remarkable integrity to every aspect of his work. He generously put up with my highly analytic and data driven approach to the install plan, sourced our Tesla batteries and panels at far, far below market value (beating out numerous competitors by a truly considerable margin), refused to charge more than his quote even when unexpected costs arose, and offered transparent, excellent planning and communication every step of the way. Jason and his installation team produced an aesthetically clean, 20 panel array befitting our historic home, integrated our new array with our existing one in a difficult and customized way requiring thousands of feet of wiring/conduit, and achieved a commercial grade, quality install of 2 Tesla Powerwall 3 batteries that have now fully liberated us from PG&E grid dependence. As Jason himself predicted, in just 2.5 weeks, our new system has exported 700 kwh to the grid, and imported 0 kwh. We are now fully in control of our power, and no longer at the mercy of PG&E, now, or in the future. Financially, this is utterly lifechanging for our family. So, for anyone considering Sunrun, or other companies, do not move forward until you have given Jason Batman and Power Pro's Electric and Solar a chance first. They will easily beat out competitor pricing by a large margin, and produce a system of truly remarkable craftsman quality. I cannot recommend Jason and his team highly enough, and our family owes Jason and his team a tremendous debt of gratitude.

Beware: You are going to waste a lot of your time and nerves babysitting Solar Negotiators and…read moremaking sure your project actually moves forward. It has now been 1 year and 7 months since my project started, and I still do not have Permission to Operate (PTO). I'm attaching a receipt showing when the project was initiated, as well as a photo of the solar panels installed on my roof, as evidence that this is a genuine review and not something made up. Things went somewhat acceptably until the panels were installed, which happened in December--10 months ago. There were some hiccups on Solar Negotiators side figuring out the permitting process with the city. They went back and forth with the city on the design because they were apparently confused about what was and wasn't allowed under the city code. This cost me a couple of months of delay before the installation. Already not great, but it's acceptable. After the panels went on my roof, that's when things really went south. When trying to obtain PTO (permission to operate), Solar Negotiators discovered that PG&E required a transformer upgrade. I'm not sure how they failed to identify this earlier. Given that a transformer upgrade can take 6+ months, you would think they would have applied for it well in advance. But I figured mistakes happen, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Solar Negotiators needed to apply for the transformer upgrade and pay for the conditional PTO. Somehow, it took them another two months--and constant calls from me--to get the application submitted. Finally, in March, they told me that my project was in the queue for the transformer upgrade and that I just needed to wait. I was specifically told that I should stop calling because the project was "under control." I waited five months before following up. When I asked for an update, I received the response that "everything is good, we are waiting on the PG&E transformer upgrade." I decided to call PG&E myself to make sure everything was actually in order. PG&E told me that nothing was planned on their side because Solar Negotiators had never responded to an email PG&E sent them back in March. I brought this to Solar Negotiators attention, and they initially denied that there was an issue and assured me they were taking care of it. This is probably the most frustrating part of dealing with Solar Negotiators: every time I call, the person I speak with tells me they need to talk to their "interconnections team" and that someone will call me back. Of course, nobody ever does. I have repeatedly had to call them again myself just to get any information. They also refused to include me in their email correspondence with PG&E. Eventually, I got tired of this and asked PG&E to add me to the email thread from their side. That's when the situation became very clear. Solar Negotiators had indeed failed to respond to PG&E back in March. Their own explanation was that the project had "fallen through the cracks on our end." What makes this even more frustrating is that even after Solar Negotiators knew I was aware that the delay was caused by their failure to respond, they continued dragging their feet with PG&E. They would often take more than a week to respond to PG&E, and in several cases they only responded after I called Solar Negotiators and complained. So, essentially, I have had to babysit my own solar project for months, contacting both Solar Negotiators and PG&E to make sure the companies communicate with each other. Today, I finally received a call from someone at Solar Negotiators who apparently works directly with PG&E and was able to explain the current status of the project. Hopefully, this means things will finally start moving forward and I can get a conditional PTO soon, and a transformer upgrade 6 months later to get a full PTO. Unfortunately, I'm stuck with Solar Negotiators at this point, and there isn't much I can do other than share my experience. If you are considering Solar Negotiators as your contractor, my advice is simple: please don't.

What was never clearly explained to my family was that the payment increases every year. At $470 per month, the deal sounded reasonable. But after reviewing the terms, the payment will rise to about $550 per month in 5 years, around $667 per month in 10 years, and over $1,000 per month by the end of the agreement. During the signing process, we were also encouraged to verbally agree and were told that reading the contract in detail was not necessary, and that we should simply trust what was being said instead. We were also pressured into signing the contract. In hindsight, this made it difficult for us to fully understand the long-term cost structure at the time of signing. Had we fully understood the escalation in pricing, we would have evaluated the offer differently. After the sale was completed, the sales representative stopped responding to messages, which added to our frustration.
