I like Bombay Aloo. It is a buffet, and a buffet is never gonna be my idea of a special treat. But…read moretheir lunch deal for all you can eat for a fiver seems to recognise this, and it's an excellent place to go if you're looking to eat quickly/in the day/save money. The staff are good, food is fresh (usually - the rice can dry out if it's not busy) and it isn't greasy, fatty or bland. The only downer is that the dishes do lack distinct flavours, and do tend to merge into each other - it's a bit of a shame they couldn't have been more inventive considering this place is quite unique in serving a veggie only menu. All in all though, the cosiness and satisfyingness of the place/food means it's pretty darn good for the price. Oooh, just checked the website - apparently the buffet is just £3.50 between 3.15 and 5.15 mon-fri - amazing!

I came here because I saw it was 5£ for all you can eat vegetarian Indian food - DING DING DING,…read moreticks all the boxes, cheap, all you can eat, Indian, vego, I was sold before I arrived! It's definitely not the fanciest buffet, but what can you really expect when you are paying 5£?? The restaurant itself is cozy, and I appreciated the sign on the wall informing you of which dishes are vegan and which are just vegetarian, very helpful! The food is really good, there's a nice selection of vegetable curries, dahls, rice, salad, onion bhajis, papadums and naan bread, and it's all delicious! I wish there were more places like this when traveling because the price is too good to beat! You get such a good selection, and can eat as much as you like, which for me is quite a lot. You definitely get way more than your money's worth and a full belly of warm Indian food.

I have heard a few people describe this place as the best Indian restaurant in Brighton. Whilst I…read moredon't think I've eaten in enough to warrant corroborating that statement, I can say I ate here recently and it was pretty damn good! What I particularly like about Shahi Tandoori is that it is split into two quite separate spaces, one side is the restaurant and one is the takeaway. This is genius! There's nothing more annoying than people wandering through while you're eating to pick up their order, letting a draft in and spoiling the ambiance of the restaurant. Well Shahi has it covered. Food-wise, the side dishes are all great...I particularly like the Bombay Aloo, the Sag Paneer and the Onion Bhajis- delicious! I can also recommend the Vegetable Balti and Chicken Tikka Masala. Since this place is just around the corner, we often pop down to pick up a few side dishes to go with a home-cooked curry and they never look at us funny, despite our paltry order! I like them.

You can never have enough good quality Indian restaurants (so says I), without doubt Shahi Tandoori…read moredeserves to be added to that category. It's located in an odd place at the bottom of Ditchling Rise, because of the location you might never have come this way, I really would recommend it though. 'Shahi' is a little bit cheaper then the more central Indian restaurants (and take aways, they do both). The food is also of a very good quality; I had the rogan josh and passanda, both of which I could eat 7 days a week. The area isn't the nicest, the decor is a little dated, but it's a fantastic place filled with Indian charm (and food).
