Do you enjoy the smell of sweat and using dirty/broken equipment? Then this is the gym for you!…read moreWant a guest pass? That'll be $20 for one day, please! The first thing you'll receive upon entering this "gym" is a slap in the face by the overwhelming stench of sweaty balls and old leather. Walk a little further and you'll meet their staff, they're great too! Relentless attitude, scoffs, and you're definitely on your own if you need to find anything because they sure won't help you! You need dumbbells? Well you're in luck because now you get to go on a hunt to find the right ones because none of them are in order, or even there at all. It's as if they're trying to say, "Hey, while you're working out your muscles, you might as well work out your brain too!" If you get off on sitting on cracked and worn leather benches then this is definitely the gym you're looking for. Not a single bench is without a rip, crack, or stain! There's even some leftover "seasoning" from the last person who used it, because God forbid they supply you with disinfecting wipes. Let's not forget the cardio equipment. Rhythmic squeaks will lull you to sleep, peeling labels will sure get those brain muscles flexing, and sometimes they're missing handrails, because you clearly need to strengthen those stabilizing muscles! When you finally leave, you'll enjoy the lasting effects of a lighter wallet and feeling like you need a shower, and not just because you worked out.

The gym is essentially a warehouse decorated with some cheap, disorganized equipment. Smell is awful, as well.

I also have a soft spot for women owned small businesses. A year later, now that I'm a local, I'm giving it a second chance. No, it isn't F45. Not close. But it does the trick. The owner is lovely and tries hard to keep stubborn clients that know it all safe and enjoying a good workout. I can't see the women in the Cape Cod area. Don't frighten me - some do! You can't guide them if they're doing something that could hurt them because these women know it all and want to do it their way. But the trainers here know how to keep them safe! As a long time member, Fitness 500 periodically has staffing issues when the employee that opens up…read morethe gym at 5:00 am or 6:00 am (weekend) does not show up. This leaves a dozen+ members waiting in the parking lot guessing when the doors will open or if they should go home. And honestly, things happen it's about how a business handles them that tells the story. That is where this review starts... For the 2nd time this month the person opening the gym no showed. Instead of Fitness 500 using this as an opportunity to go above and beyond or wow members they instead get defensive, testy, and full of excuses. The manager, 'L' may be a fine personal trainer but needs to spend more time learning how to speak to the public when such situations arise (this coming from a career executive who cringes when I read 'L's' emails other members share with me). Heaven forbid Fitness 500 would credit dedicated early morning members, but a simple stand at the door the next morning and proactively apologize would go a long way. Send an email, facebook post, or do something PROACTIVELY to acknowledge the frustration instead of waiting on members to contact you upset. Imagine if you wrote an email to Fitness 500 with your frustration and the next time you came in they said grab a drink from the cooler 'on us' for your trouble. THAT is customer service. THAT is wowing your customers, THAT is something memorable that members share with other members instead of people pissed off talking trash to one another about how poor Fitness 500 customer service is. And lastly.. when the owner gets involved, STOP yelling at members. Multiple members have shared this. We WANT Fitness 500 to be successful. WE WANT to have a fun gym community. Fitness 500 has every opportunity to come out shining in a unfortunate situation that seems to be reoccurring. But fails to do so each time and instead puts down members encouraging them to cancel. The club is kept fairly Clean. Staff needs to be more aware of keeping paper towel dispensers filled. Most staff need more training. Especially in enforcing the club rules. as so many members do not adhere to them or basic health club etiquette. #1 Not wiping down equipment after use, or using the same paper towel after each machine used, wiping dirt and sweat from machine to machine? Required and after use of each piece of equipment. #2 Talking on cell phones, even on speaker, while using equipment. Only allowed in small café area. #3 Wearing open toed or open backed shoes? Very unhygienic and a club liability. Only closed toed shoes allowed. #4 Monopolizing equipment due to unreasonable time on equipment and sitting, using their phone, sharing equipment with more than 1 other person. Especially in the summer when HS kids have free memberships. Reasonable time on each piece of equipment, including cardio machines, not more than two people sharing a machine at a time. #5 Bringing bags, or backpacks and leaving them on small work out floor area. They refused to check us off as having showed up even though it was clearly obvious they were capable of doing so but just taking a hard stance behind it would go against 'policy' For first time client experiencing B/Spoke I really am disappointed how we were treated.
