I used to go to the planet fitness in Fairview but unfortunately because I no longer have a car I no longer come here. This gym is huge and with lots of parking spaces available. The staff was friendly and the locker rooms were clean. It would get crowded after work hours but that's typical for a gym. I probably would still go here if I had a car. I was charged $41.58 for each person plus $10.66 when I had already cancelled. There was no partial charges and Michelle the manager was not willing to work with me. The contract was highlighted and simply responded nothing is refundable, even though I haven't stepped foot in months at this gym. In addition during the summer months there's not enough cooling making it difficult to exercise. The weight equipment are constantly taken. The parking is full of garbage and empty bottles of wine. Don't get me wrong, I love PF for their prices and what they offer. Especially now during COVID time, I wish their protective measures were a bit better. They still have the spray bottles out there to wipe down machines which has the capability to carry germs and possibly infect people even if someone was asymptomatic. You can't use the blue medical face-masks. I've been going to this gym for 2 months now and pretty satisfied with it. I usually go in around 9/10am and the gym has maybe 20people? I might be wrong on the exact number but I've never had to wait for any machine/weights. There are TONS of treadmills, ellipticals, and bikes. They have 4 stair masters. This gym is mostly focused on cardio. If you compete or power lift, this gym might not be for you.... The showers and the bathrooms are ALWAYS clean and organized. They don't supply towels but .... hey for $10/20 a month, I can throw in a towel in my gym bag. Most importantly, I find the staff pretty friendly. Since day one, they are nothing but welcoming. The only reason they are getting 4 stars and not 5 is that they had classes for awhile but they stopped. I hope they bring them back soon! read more

It's very crowded here in the usual times of 5-8pm. I think they do what they can to keep it clean. The weights are usually pretty organized, but it can be hard to get to certain machines. I have been to this location a few times. Ever since North Bergen location closed I was forced to come here. For some reason my membership Shown cancelled even when my bill was just taken out of my account. I explained to the big guy at the front that to check me manually because that can't be right. Instead of being at all helpful he neglected to Look Me up on the system And instead was a TOTAL ASSHOLE AND PRICK. The older man was much more helpful and looked me up and found that I was an active member. Today I went to cancel my membership in Planet Fitness in 251 Broad Ave, Fairview NJ, and I want to share my experience with the public about the club manager Michelle. Facts and rationale: 1- She has told me that it is not necessary for me to look for her to make a cancellation, when I wanted to clarify that I did not have to pay the annual fee because I wanted to cancel my membership in the club, when I asked to speak to someone else for the way she had spoken to me she answered that she is the boss, already the situation was beginning to get tense. 2- I scan my club membership card, she prepares the cancellation contract and asks me to sign the cancellation, I sign with my signature for personal safety, which she is not convinced and asks me to show her my ID (despite If I scanned and she saw my photo on her computer, she forced me to show her my ID to verify the signature because she was not convinced. When I show her my ID, she tells me that I must make the same signature of my ID. Or that she cannot cancel the membership, after a heated discussion, I finally convince her that it is the rubric that I use for non-governmental documents. 3- I tell her that I am in a hurry and that I wanted to complete the cancellation, she takes out the thermometer and takes my temperature and takes out a notebook, and begins to read me questions about whether I had had symptoms of the coronavirus, I explain that I don't intend to use the facilities that I just want to cancel my membership and she replied that if I did not threaten that the situation would be more complicated. 4- She tells me that the cancellation had been sent to my email. Which I checked my email and nothing had reached me and I asked her please if he could print me a copy of the cancellation, which he has totally refused to do so. Allegations 1) If she is the manager or the boss as she claims to be, she is supposed to give solutions and not make us feel helpless with her constant gestures that she does not care what you are exposing. because you have to do what she says with her authoritarianism and arrogant and that is the only way out you have or she does not give you another solution. 2) Asking me for my ID was not necessary. She had my photo on her computer and my data and the signature was the same with which she had signed the contract to be a member of the club. 3) Checking the temperature and answering questions about whether I have had symptoms should be done before entering the building or if you are going to use the gym facilities. This attitude has been Totally ridiculous on her part for her stubbornness that things have to be as she says. 4) With regard to the receipt of the cancellation being printed. She has not done it because she did not feel like it, there were printers there and documents had been printed for a previous client. A person has a legal right to receive copies of anything signed in their name, whether she sent it by email or not, since this was verifiably unreceived, it is her responsibility to provide a paper copy. Conclusion: Never, Ever, Ever again, I will be a member of Planet Fitness again, and I will never recommend it to anyone, and I certainly relay this experience and my strong opinion against anyone ever doing business there. You should never speak down to anyone, much less a customer. It takes years to get and retain one and a minutes to lose twice that forever. I was a member of the club and I was paying part of their payroll with my membership fee, which by the way I have only used once in the whole year and I have met the payment month after month. Unfortunately have been at this gym for 3+ years because it is very close to me, I think it's time to retire. This location has 4 stairmaster machines.. about 10/12 months through the year 1-2 machines will be working tops so good luck if you enjoy that form of cardio. If you enjoy drinking some free cold water don't think you're getting that here cause the fountain will be broken and when it does work it's warm and you basically have to make out with the mouth piece. Next if you like paper towels and machines working good luck with that as well as half will usually not be working. On to staff you'll see a very sweet old man and a very annoying one who will bother you for absolutely everything. Do NOT sign up here you will highly regret it read more

In response to the reply my review received from "management:" If there is one thing you guys have it's certainly your ability to reply to all of the reviews you receive in a flash, kudos for that! The problem is that your courteous replies do absolutely nothing to resolve any of the issues usually addressed. You mention how you can understand me wanting the convenience of a 24/7 gym when in reality I want the convenience I signed up for and you sold to me , one followed by all the PF gyms owned by corporate. I am not asking for a favor. Since that is clearly imposible to attain since you clearly have been getting away with it, the least you can do is close later than 10pm, midnight seems reasonable. Lastly, asking everyone who leaves a review with a concern here to contact the manager is not only comical but an insult to our intelligence. If we are taking the time to write these reviews on yelp it is OBVIOUSLY because speaking to the manager leads nowhere other than her refusing to even speak to you unless you provide her with your membership information just so you can be targeted after. Not to mention that you have countless complaints about how she treats your customers and from what I hear it's not much better than how she also treats your staff, yet you have kept her there without any regard. Furthermore, you lost the only employee you had there that actually cared about the maintenance of the place (older gentleman, I believe his name was Marshal) now when it's not that the disinfecting spray bottles are empty, it's the crappy paper towels dispensers that are empty, minor issues that can be easily corrected with a competent supervisor. Love the fact this gym is 24/7 for $10. (It's actually $10.66 because I think tax?) Only downside is if you go around 8/9 pm on a weekday it's PACKED. You'll find treadmills and ellipticals but other machines can be pretty booked. But it's pretty clean and the employees are super nice! I've been there a couple times in the morning too and it's a lot emptier. For its price though I'd say it's a pretty great deal. read more

Because this place is always clean, it doesn't smell like your sweaty armpits, machines are always working and it never gets ridiculously crowded unless you go during rush hour and you can't avoid the situation but still, 5 's. I've been going to this gym for over a year with no problem until i went today and michelle the manager was highly unprofessional. She think she can speak to people however she wants with no consequences. She is highly disrespectful and miserable and can tell she hates her job. I just quit my monthly membership today because of an annoying encounter with a young woman with glasses and long dark hair who works in the counter. She refused to let me in because I did not have my tag which was never given to me. She insisted that it was given to me in the past cos that's what's showing in their system. I explained to her that the person who I spoke with last time told me that they ran out of tags and that I should just show my ID and a tag will be given to me. I joined online so I had to pick up the tag my first day at the gym. But no tag was available and no tag was given to me. Yet in their system, it shows that a tag with a number was printed for me. But, I never received it. What I did not like about this situation is not the confusion about the tags. This problem happens in any kind of computerized system. What I did not like is the way the person who was working in the counter spoke to me - her bad choice of words, her body language and her tone. She was too rude and disrespectful. And it is my principle, to not support businesses where I am disrespected. So I spoke to the manager who let me in and he gave me a tag. But I decided right there that I was just gonna cancel my membership. The gym is clean and cheap. But there are other choices in this area of NJ. I just can't let the rudeness pass. Absolutely disgusting attitude from the manager Michelle. It was my first time ever at a gym. I have 8 years of customer service, she was literally acting like a bouncer lol. Instead of trying to explain to my friend and I the rules she was doing it in such a hostile attitude as if we were going trying to sneak in or something. Hey Michelle instead of saying we need an N-95 mask and saying we can't use the gym unless we have that. After we told you it's our first time there? She still kept saying we couldn't use it. So far I am a fan of PF in Fairview NJ. I live in Fort lee NJ so it's only 5mins from me. It is TRULY your basis gym, so don't come expecting bells and whistles unless you activate the "LUNK ALARM". The gym is always clean, the front desk staff is pleasant. It is a shame they don't offer some classes or perhaps offer a ladies night for just women. They also need to be quicker about fixing equipment when it breaks. Other than those minor issues it's not bad for your buck...... read more

After being a member since they first opened, I will never return after the way my family and I were treated tonight. Michelle is one of the front desk girls and clearly does not know how to speak to people. After an overnight change in the contract (supposedly), Michelle proceeded to deny access to my younger cousin even though she too has been a member for a couple months. I am an adult who has responsibility over them yet Michelle kept threatening to call the police on us as she kept raising her voice. I transferred to this location yesterday and made an appointment to meet with the Personal trainer at 9:30. I left my house quite early to allow for traffic so I was there early. At 9:32 I was told that he's on brake but on his way back. When he got there, he walked past me to put his stuff away and then came over. Here's the problem: he never even acknowledged running late and when I brought it up he just rudely said," I was on break." He didn't apologize until he was forced to by his manager, Michele (she was very nice btw). I really didn't like his attitude and didn't want to have to tolerate him for an hour so I left and called the "owner", Greg. Greg didn't care either. He was so hung up on defending the 6 minutes his employee was late, he wasn't even listening. My point was not only was he late, he also had an attitude. I told Greg that if I have an appointment with someone at work, to me that means I am present and available to that person at the agreed upon time and if for some reason I am not available, I am apologetic. It's more about professionalism than it is about the few minutes late. Greg disagreed. After speaking to Greg, I could certainly see why this trainer felt it was ok to treat a customer rudely.
