I drove quite a distance to this Planet Fitness site in order to check out the club and see the equipment. I made the assumption that they would let me try out the place once gratis. Not so fast! They said they don't have a complementary anything but can sell me a twenty-four hour day pass for twenty dollars! I thought that was exorbitant and turned around and left. I find this mercenary. Surprisingly decent location, lots of space and plenty of machines, especially for cardio. Of course it being planet fitness it's a given that the free weights don't go up to much of a weight, but improvising correctly can definitely get a decent workout. Given the prices of gyms around Durham, and for what you get from a planet fitness, this is a few steps ahead of the game. Clean enough, plenty of parking, and even when arriving around 5 the gym still has space to move around without feeling closed in like some other PF locations. This P.F. is the usual cookie stamp cutter gym. I won't go into detail with the excruciating pain to resolve billing issues. Finally after several trips so this gym (they DON'T allow any gym to give out local phone, so I have to drive out there EVERYTIME I have an issue.) They decided to credit me 3 free months. I check my bank online and found out that 4 days later the charged me for my 'free month." I am done with Planet Witless. Joined "Fitness World" nearby and so glad I did. They are SO much better, for only $10.00 more and have many classes each day. Many for seniors. read more

Staff is always very friendly and the facility is usually very clean. Some minor issues like it's hit or miss with TV's that are connected to the treadmills don't work, and there are a few pieces of equipment that could be repaired or replaced. But I do enjoy using my facility. read more

I have been coming to Planet Fitness for 8 years. I've visited many locations and never had an issue until today. When I arrived an employee named Dominique was *IMMEDIATELY* and inexcusably rude and insulting with ZERO reason to behave that way. The attitude I received was unbelievable, and she actually *called ME rude* for asking a question after she had lied about a service and made incorrect statements. This entire time I was polite, and I'm not just saying that to be guilt free, I legitimately was just asking questions... and that BOTHERED her. The gym itself is a good place to workout at. However, the guy who works overnight and on the weekends is entirely too aggressive. I believe his name is Earl or Errol. I asked him to utilize the hydro chair and rolled his eyes and said "chair 4". When I got there, someone was using it. I went back to explain and he said " you didn't say bed the first time you said you wanted to use the chair. You should have said bed. But go to chair 4" . While at the desk waiting on him to respond, I witnessed him treating two younger guy's very disrespectfully by using aggressive hand motions. I just got my membership today. I have been here before with a friend has a guest and some staff members seem to be nice but today this guy at front was rude to us. My friend and I came together and my friend asked for the hydrobed for both of us and the guy upfront was telling her that I have to ask for myself that she can't ask for both of us which I understand that they have policies and regulations but he wasn't even letting us talk. I was told a year ago that my membership would automatically expire in November of last year. I recently discovered that they'd still been billing me. They are now forcing me to come in person to cancel my membership. They want to make it as inconvenient as possible to cancel the membership so they can squeeze that extra money out of me. Facility is all equipped and very good. The manager from the MLK gym is so rude. was trying to cancel with one of employee that was very polite to explaining me all the process, the manager just jumped up on the computer closing the system making the employee so embarrassed. After working out for 2 hours yesterday at Planet Fitness on MLK location, one of their staff members decided to cut my lock off their locker with my belongs still inside! I thought my belongs were stolen! I was told that a staff member assumed my lock was on the locker overnight which is ridiculous! The staff didn't check my history to see what time I checked in their gym yesterday! The staff gave me a combination lock for their neglecance after I complained and never spoke with a manager who they claim don't work on weekends! The nerve of this staff! Keep your personal belongings in your car or if you bring in your own lock - just keep your fingers crossed after your work out that your lock will not be cut off by Planet Fitness staff! read more

I have complained endlessly of the women's dirty bathrooms, I mean toilet paper all over the floor. Trash bags too full to use, and then in some place no paper towels at all. Don't even ask me what the toilets look like as I would never have the guts to use them. This club is close to me and thus so convenient and I adore the hydromessage bed, but I think I'm going to have to move on. read more

I've been to three different locations. This by far is the best planet fitness. It's very clean and they have a wide range of equipment. This gym can hold a lot of people. There is always equipment/ the workout machine of choice available. The locker rooms are always tidy and kept up. I typically go very early in the morning (5am) and it's so many people in there, I love it. The energy is contagious and it motivates me to keep going on my fitness journey. The staff is pretty nice for the most part, there is this one male with cornrows that's not always too pleasant. He never smiles or gives eye contact and is very short when speaking. It does come of as rude at times. read more

Joined in May when we moved to the area. I work out some 6 days a week, and have belonged to many gyms over the years. This one takes the cake! It's large, clean, has a wide variety of areas to focus on whatever area of your body you're trying to improve. The tanning beds and massage chairs are just the cherry on the cake. We always see employees cleaning and actually caring that the facility is in tip top shape, and we like that. I even tried Orange Theory before but with PF, will never join another gym....unless we move again to some place that doesn't have one. Would rate negative stars if possible... I know these places make their cancellation procedures difficult because they want to keep taking your money, but this place is outrageous. They say you have to go to your home gym to cancel, which took me so long to be able to do because I have since moved. From paying for a certified letter saying I want to cancel and hearing no response, which they say on their website is the alternative to going in person. To finally going in person to cancel, the front desk person giving me an attitude for no reason, and them not telling me that I was still going to get charged for that month since I was in the billing cycle, and taking two days calling back to back to finally getting a manager on the phone, who which I will add was the most helpful person I had talked to. Safe to say I won't be recommending not only this location but any Planet Fitness to anyone looking for a gym unless they feel like fighting to simple cancel their membership. read more

I've been a planet fitness customer for 4 years but I am canceling my membership for myself and my wife. During COVID I didn't go for 2 years I asked that my membership be suspended until I go back, Mike the Manager said no problem come in every 3 months and ask for it to be suspended so I won't be charged, they charged me anyways, I complained and Mike said no problem I'll give you 3 months free when you start back, when I started back he said OK done, needless to say he didn't do it and I was still charged, when I went back and confronted him he said sorry we never had that deal "I have an email to prove it" I wasted 2 years of paying only to be treated like I wasn't a member worth keeping, there are a lot of problems at that branch and he's the main source, it will probably go under I am going to switch to a different gym. read more

I went to the club and the staff told me that it was PF corporate's decision to start billing members and that they couldn't help me at the club level. This is the biggest Planet Fitness we have in Durham. There are plenty of machines to choose from so no one has to wait around for someone else to finish. You like running? You're in luck because they have like 50 treadmills. It's clean and new, and you know how we like new things. The staff is friendly and makes sure the machines are cleaned regularly. They have water massage chairs for those sore muscles of yours *gotta have black card for that. My friends rave that the eye candy come out after 5p on weekdays, so if you like something to look at with your workout come on down. There are an abundant number of lockers to put your belongings in so no need to fight about it. You really can't go wrong with this gym. They have pizza and bagel Monday's the beginning of every month, you still gotta eat right? $10 a month for basic membership and $20 for black card; tanning, massage chairs, and bring a non member anytime you come unlike other gyms that charge guests a daily fee. I think we've created the perfect planet fitness. If you read my review of the chapel hill planet fitness, this place pretty much covers all the weaknesses without any downsides. Open 24/7!! Plentiful cardio and more benches/smith machines for weightlifting. And the treadmills have individualized TVs so you can plug in your headphones and flip through channels which is amazing. It took them a while to get wifi, but it is now installed and working well. I really have no complaints at all. It's amazing this is only $10 per month. If you don't need a pool or fitness classes, hard to imagine anyone beating this place anywhere near this price point. read more

I absolutely LOVE my membership to the Planet Fitness in Durham, NC (MLK Drive). It is truly a Judgment Free Zone where I can workout all over the place and feel confident in my skin. Women and men workout and cheer each other on without hearing the jarring sounds of free weights hitting the ground or the clacking inside nautilus equipment due to users attempting to lift more weight than they can control or loud grunts and yells commonly heard in other gyms. There is enough of each type of equipment to avoid waiting to get on a specific piece. And, the entire gym is setup for efficiency and ease-of-use so that even a beginner can just jump in and hit the ground running. Also, the hydro and seated massage chairs are stellar! I had no idea how beneficial a massage is after a workout. The amount of aching felt the next morning is diminished considerably after the massage and drinking lots of water. I could never have pushed myself as hard as I have lately without using the massage chairs. Some days, I actually come into the gym and skip the workout just to use the massage chairs as a form of recovery. The staff is super attentive and very nice. If I can't figure out a piece of equipment, they're more than happy to assist me and do so in a manner that is kind and helpful. If I have had to park too far aware from the facilities and don't feel comfortable walking to my car, they gladly watch me to ensure I get there safely. They truly have a great team of young people who really care about your mental and physical well-being. Whoever came up with the Planet Fitness concept and design deserves a gold medal:-) read more
