Working on Gluts! Plenty of machines.
Sovana P.

Haven't been back for a while. I check the radar meter to see how busy it was. Sorry to say it was very misleading. 2 bars. But when I showed up it was so full! There were barely any machines available to use. I did notice people just walk right in without scanning. I notice people was loitering around taking up space.

Convenient water bottle holder.
Jessie U.

Good thing the cardio machines always reset in the middle of my workout and staff is rude because, and I don't know about anyone else, but I go to the gym to be frustrated and disappointed. I have communicated my frustrations with management and staff several times over the few years I've been paying to use this gym. They have responded by saying they would take note of the issues. Apparently, all they are capable of doing is writing down complaints. Solving them has never been a priority. I'm especially concerned with the lack of interest the staff has with anything other than their cell phones. I could be on fire and no one would notice unless, simultaneously, it was being live-streamed by another member on a social media platform.

Gym is clean and has all the equipment you need for a good workout. I do wish that they offered some kind of work out class.

The workouts focus on "functional" fitness and are 45 minutes long (except for one hour-long session a week), hence the F45 name. The workout for the day is the same program whether you're exercising in Australia where the program began or here in little Rhody. (Very cool today to take a 9am session here while my daughter took the same one in LA.) Pre-registration is required as there is a limit of 28 participants in any class - at least in this club. The goal to to move fast, sweat, and develop some camaraderie with your fellow participants and partner for the day - high fives are pretty much mandated. Two staff members work at every session. They explain and QUICKLY demo each move and describe the circuit. You and your "partner" - assuming an even numbers of people in the class, you are paired with someone who moves through your circuit with you - start at an assigned station and receive direction and timing from a video screen demo'ing your move as you do it. The staff regularly visit everyone in the room giving support and encouragement and some comments to assist with your form, weight selection, and (in my case) an explanation of the occasionally confusing progression through the circuit. The sales material says the program works for all fitness levels but if you are not used to regular strength training, this probably isn't for you: it's fast and many of the exercises are complex (upper and lower body combined even on leg- or arm-only day, with cardio because of the limited rest periods so it's always a HIIT program), the weights start at 10 pounds, and many of the safety tips aren't consistently given (knees above ankles for a lunge, roll your shoulders back and don't collapse into it...), and it is WICKED FUN!!! The staff are friendly, the club is clean, the equipment is great (y-bells, Thor's hammers, multi-handled sand bags, in addition to the expected kettlebells, dumb bells, etc). Pricing is higher than a "gym," more like a Pilates or yoga studio. Again, I loved it - but this won't be the place for everyone.

Excellent people Great facility…read moreSuccessful results I found Olympia on Yelp and decided to give them a call about what they offered and how I could get involved. At the time, fitness coach Pat Sturdahl was who picked up the phone, and about six solid months later, Pat's still my coach. Their services touch on a variety of needs. They partner with Restore RI physical therapy (same building), so they can do corrective/rehabilitative work. They help people concentrate on specific regimens for individual sports. They can tailor workouts for any individual goal you have. They have several classes for different fitness levels. They even offer a firefighter exam course. I've seen people from teens to their 60s working out on their own programs. The facility offers a little bit of everything, from free weights to tension bands, and kettle bells to Assault AirBikes, all in a utilitarian facility - there's a little something for virtually anything you'd want to train. Bonus points that the music always seems to fit whatever's going on. Everyone I've met at Olympia has been friendly, but special shout-out to Pat, who is both laid-back and a highly capable teacher of form and function - he's been exceptional to work with. Olympia is is nestled back on Worthington Street, but well worth seeking out - highly recommended.

She is stronger and more confident and have already started to see improvements on the basketball court. Her footwork is quicker, and overall agility and balance on the court have improved. The coaches, specifically Lexi and Katie have done a fantastic job tailoring workouts to support sport-specific goals.... Excited to carry this momentum into the upcoming season! Highly recommend Olympia for any young athlete looking to elevate their skills.

I do not typically write negative reviews however, my experience with this business was so…read moreincredibly disappointing that I felt like this was necessary. I apologize for how long it is but I really don't want anyone else to experience what I did. I signed up for Fit 4 Life in Mid October of 2017, after two of my friends said that they had signed up and enjoyed it so far. I spoke to the owner, Pete, who assured me that my late schedule requirements were manageable (I work in Boston and would get back to Cranston around 7/730 pm at night). After speaking to Pete and Connor, the other trainer, I felt confident that I would finally get the workout regimen and nutritional help that I've desperately wanted for some time. I was excited to work with them and trusted that they were excited to work with me. I couldn't be more wrong. I will say both Pete and Connor are knowledgeable and the workouts I had with Connor were always great. The problem was time management and lack of communication. Multiple times, I had shown up to train with Connor and he was nowhere to be found. I would then get a text, after already having driven there and taken time out of my day, to be told that his phone had broken or that he had scheduled breakfast with his mother and that we would have to reschedule. The first time this happened, I understood. The second and third times - not so much. Another issue I had was the ways in which we communicated. I was constantly texting back and forth with Connor - but almost every single time was me reaching out to him. Every week I was sending a text making sure I knew when my appointments were. Often times, I would get a "oh sorry, I have plans I forgot about - how is Saturday?". This baffled me. First off, why am I the person always reaching out? I am the client. Secondly, a few times is fine, but every time? That is unfair to me. When I couldn't stand the inconsistency any longer, I reached out to Pete and explained how I felt. He said that he completely understood and that he would now be taking over my appointments. This made me happy - not only would they be in the early AM (5/6 am before my train to Boston) but he seemed genuinely concerned about my concerns, even making it a point to say that we would get 4 half hour sessions in a week and that he would let Connor know. I felt like he valued me as a client but, again, severely mistaken. I, once again, reached out to Pete EVERY SINGLE TIME to schedule our work outs. The first time he told me Wednesday AM was fine but never told me a time. I asked him what time worked and then he immediately responded saying Wednesdays didn't work. This was wildly confusing considering he said this directly under the text conversation we had where he said he could. We made our first appointment for a Saturday. That morning, I asked him what time I should come in because, again, he never texted me to let me know what worked. He completely ignored my text. Pete told me multiple times he would refund me because I was behind three classes. He told me, via text, that he would give me back my money but stopped texting me all together. Just completely ignored me. I ended up not going to my last two weeks because this was THE WORST experience I have ever had with a business and there was never any initiative to resolve these issues. I feel like because I paid upfront, I was seen as less important than their other clients. I see the positive reviews others have left and honestly wonder what I did to receive such an opposite experience. All in all, if you do decide to sign up make sure you do not pay until you receive the service. However, I would recommend that you just go somewhere else with people who are proven to be reliable and good business owners.
