I've been coming for about 6 weeks and have already made friends. Some of their classes have a kid's room available so someone can watch your little one while you workout. They are welcoming whether that means you're a grandparent looking to get in better shape and stay active or whether that means that you're 20-something that wants the thrill of competing in a sport. They were welcoming from day one and everyone there is so friendly and meets you with a smile and calls you by name. Included in your membership not only gives you access to the gym but the Healing Suite where you have access to 2 infrared saunas, 4 massage chairs, PEMF mats, and Infrared Mats. On top of that there is a wave pool with an underwater treadmill (I haven't used that yet but it seems very popular) The greatest part of my experience at the gym though has been with the Personal Training that they offer. I've been working out twice a week with Sarah S. for over a year now and my flexibility and cardio both have improved. I like the accountability she gives me to make sure I'm exercising/stretching and doing it correctly while also encouraging me to do things I'm not comfortable trying on my own. There's also all types of different classes to take and Coffee with Carrie (which I've been trying to get to). Just so much to put under one business I could recommend them to anyone for hours.

The problem is that the saunas are not turned on some of the mornings, as they need to be preheated. If your running short on time it takes two cycles for the saunas to heat. I have mentioned this to the staff and also to the manager. Nothing has changed.... One staff member says you get the same benefit from a sauna even if it is not warmed up. Really? So if the program runs at 138 and it's 100 your getting the same benefits? I'm not sure what the issue is. If this was the case why have the other equipment plugged in? You could sit in a massage chair and feel relaxed if it's not plugged in? You could manually make the treadmill work... wouldn't be as enjoyable, but what difference does it make! Today I found out that they no longer have WIFI, so I might cancel my membership because that really makes me mad. However, if you can get over that, they have a large variety of equipment, and the biggest selection of cardio machines of any gym I've seen. Another thing that bothers me is that they only have machines for bench press and squats, and to me that just isn't the same workout than an actual free weight bars. They have it's of classes they offer if you are into that, and also have massage beds and tanning beds they offer for $10 more per month. It is a good gym to go to if you are just the casual workout person, but for a more advanced person I would find another gym.

This one even had a stair-climber. Unfortunately, the recumbent exercise bike I rode on was pretty ragged (like it was grinding). I cannot complain though - it did give a good workout despite giving the impression it was worn out.. The shower room was comfortable and included one amenity I have never seen before at an Anytime Fitness gym - a dispenser with soap and shampoo! What a nice touch on behalf of the owners. This is an excellent facility whether you are looking for a location near home, are a business traveler, or like me - just an RV'er passing through and wanting a workout and hot shower. Is this a gym I would join if I lived in this area?. Absolutely. It's one of the finest Anytime locations in Iowa.

My friend was called a "f*ing idiot" by another member recently while she was working out. She was videotaping at the time, and I viewed the video of her confronting him. Then, she immediately reported it to management. They literally acknowledged that he has harassed and intimidated other members, but they refuse to address the abusive member. Apparently, Anytime Fitness cares more about the cost of one man's membership than the safety of multiple other gym members. My Cedar Rapids gym takes member safety seriously, but I will NEVER recommend Anytime Fitness gyms because of the appalling disrespect the Waterloo gym showed for my friend's safety and that of other members.
