He was able to let me in the gym while he was at his second home in Costa Rica. I was impressed with his level of sincerity and just overall pleasant demeanor. Although I had heard some negative rumblings about the previous owner, Ryan was super nice and easy to deal with. He informed that he has owned the gym for two years now and installed the most modern and advanced exercise equipment on the market and it shows when you walk in the door, surprisingly the gym was not crowded for the week I went in my guest pass and was always very clean and all of the members were very nice. I am a few pounds overweight and non of the members made me feel uncomfortable or out of place. I will be going back when I visit next and look forward to meeting Ryan in person! This site has the line of Nautilus weight lifting machines which are well designed and fit the body to a T. Nobody makes a more comfortable seat pad, either! This one even had a stair-climber. Unfortunately, the recumbent exercise bike I rode on was pretty ragged (like it was grinding). I cannot complain though - it did give a good workout despite giving the impression it was worn out.. The shower room was comfortable and included one amenity I have never seen before at an Anytime Fitness gym - a dispenser with soap and shampoo! What a nice touch on behalf of the owners. This is an excellent facility whether you are looking for a location near home, are a business traveler, or like me - just an RV'er passing through and wanting a workout and hot shower. My friend was called a "f*ing idiot" by another member recently while she was working out. She was videotaping at the time, and I viewed the video of her confronting him. Then, she immediately reported it to management. They literally acknowledged that he has harassed and intimidated other members, but they refuse to address the abusive member. Apparently, Anytime Fitness cares more about the cost of one man's membership than the safety of multiple other gym members. My Cedar Rapids gym takes member safety seriously, but I will NEVER recommend Anytime Fitness gyms because of the appalling disrespect the Waterloo gym showed for my friend's safety and that of other members.

Today I found out that they no longer have WIFI, so I might cancel my membership because that really makes me mad. However, if you can get over that, they have a large variety of equipment, and the biggest selection of cardio machines of any gym I've seen. Another thing that bothers me is that they only have machines for bench press and squats, and to me that just isn't the same workout than an actual free weight bars. They have it's of classes they offer if you are into that, and also have massage beds and tanning beds they offer for $10 more per month. It is a good gym to go to if you are just the casual workout person, but for a more advanced person I would find another gym.
