Finding an honest mechanic is hard. Finding a mechanic that won't take advantage of females is even harder. Luckily, at Plainview Auto Care your search is over. Located directly on Old Country Road in Plainview, you will find honest mechanics who absolutely value their job and customers. The first time I went in was for just an oil change. I was taken right away and before I knew it my car was done. While waiting, I was told I also had a break light out and asked if I wanted them to fix it. They only told me things that were actually wrong with my car, not anything else. Fast forward a few months and my car was doing a weird jolting, shuddering type thing. I brought it other places and was told they couldn't find anything. When I brought my car here, Jason, actually kept my car all day to do check every part of my car, drive it around, check things on cold and warm starts..literally everything. Of course my car didn't do the weird thing all day. When I went to pick my car up at the end of the day, Jason told me they couldn't find anything either. When I went to pay the mandatory $36 lift charge, Jason told me I didn't owe anything. He said I didn't owe anything do them not fixing or finding the problem, and didn't want to charge me for nothing. AMAZING. I wasn't taken advantage of at all. Fast forward to yesterday. My inspection was creeping up as it was almost the end of the month. It was about 3:30PM and I know they close at 5. I decided to take my chances and go in and ask if they were able to do an inspection and oil change. Jason said they would be able to. Woo! He also remembered me from a month ago and asked if my car was still doing the weird thing. I told him sometimes it does, but not always. While sitting and waiting for my car I witnessed the great relationships Jason has with all customers. He recognizes customers and treats everyone with respect. This is absolutely where I will go for all my car needs. read more

Jason is dishonest. Bottom line. He always seemed nice but it seems every time we go in, our car is falling apart and it will cost us over $1K for our car to not die or to pass inspection before we pull out of the lot. Recently I decided to get a 2nd opinion bc it happens EVERY TIME we take our car to him. My second opinion cost me a lot less than Jason and my car runs fine. If you're looking for an honest mechanic you might want to look someplace else. read more

You are blatantly lying to cover up your mistake. I have personally repaired tires myself in the past, so I knew the exact position of the nail before I ever stepped foot into your shop. The nail I originally identified was STILL embedded in my tire even after your technician finished the service on Friday. Your technician completely failed to perform a proper inspection, missed the original nail, and repaired a completely wrong spot instead. There were two nails in the tire from the very beginning. Your claim that I "picked up a new nail" while driving is completely false. I was forced to return to your shop on Monday solely because your team failed to resolve the issue on Friday, and your shop was closed over the weekend (closing early on Saturday and closed on Sunday). To make matters worse, neighboring auto repair shops in the area charge only $15 for a tire plug service. Charging $25.88 for an incomplete, negligent job is an absolute rip-off. This entire situation was caused by your technician's careless inspection and poor service, not by any fault of mine. Stop making ridiculous excuses and shifting the blame onto the customer. I demand an immediate full refund of $25.88 along with a formal apology. Furthermore, I will be sharing my honest experience and posting reviews about your unacceptable customer service across Google and various social media platforms to warn other drivers. read more

Terrific customer service!! Had a nail in my front right tire and within 5 minutes the tire was patched and all my tires were filled with air. I went to 4 other places with long waits so I was pleasantly surprised when it was taken care of right away. I highly recommend this business. read more

I had a flat tire early in the morning. They were open Service were great and took care of what I needed in 30 minutes.

We've been a customer since the owner of the station previously across the street retired. We had no issues when Brian was in charge. Recently, we brought in my daughters car for an inspection. For reference, the car is 2 years old and has 14k miles on it and is only really driven locally. I got a call from Jason who told me that in order for it to pass inspection, the car needed 4 tires new tires and brakes at the cost of $1300. This seemed odd to me and my husband, so we consulted with a friend more knowledgable about cars. He found it to be ridiculous and told us to take it to the dealer. When I told Jason I'd be picking the car up to get another opinion, he told me that the dealer would charge me much more than he would, but I said I would take my chance. Brought the car to the dealership and the tires were in good condition and the brakes were fine. The car passed inspection and the cost was $37. In fact, the mechanic at the dealership said that if driven the same type of mileage for the duration of the least (1 year), the car would need only a tire rotation at the next oil change. When I called Jason to share this, he got very aggressive with me and said the dealer was lying. He claimed dealerships slap passed inspection stickers on cars to remove themselves of responsibility for the poor materials they use on the car. I dismissed it to his bad attitude of being caught and went about my day. Then a friend shared that she had a similar experience on an inspection and had to purchase all new tires at the spur of the moment. I posted in a local Facebook group, and over 50 different people told stories of similar issues with this mechanic. While I can't speak to whether or not they actually needed tires and brakes, I did hear about cars getting tire rotations and the mechanic "forgot" to rebolt the tires in. Or someone went in for an oil change and "accidentally" got a new windshield. Or a horn that worked fine didn't work upon inspection and failed, only for the owner to be told by a dealership that the horn fuse was removed. Again, I'm no mechanic but something is fishy here. I would absolutely go elsewhere if you're looking for an honest mechanic. As someone said "the only thing Plainview Auto is good for is a $20 tire patch." read more

FINALLY!! An honest Auto shop!! As a woman walking into an Auto Care shop, i always wonder if i'll be given honest repair information...but with Jason (the owner), you NEVER have to worry about that concern. He has given me honest guidance when i do & DON'T need service. That honesty is "PRICELESS"... You can definitely trust him with your car!! read more

No problem keep the appointment not overpriced and does the job right i try them with my 1968 Mustang

Went around noon on a weekday for an inspection. The owner sounded like he wasn't interested in doing the inspection, a bit harsh on his tone told me "it can't be done today, I need to leave the car next day am and pick up at another time." I mean it takes no more than 10-15 mins for an inspection. Not going there again. read more

Unfortunately, I have to update my review of this business. As stated above, I was dealing solely with Brian. I found him fantastic. Plainview Auto installed a new battery. In order to reset the battery, Brian told me all that I have to do was drive the car on the Seaford Oyster Bay Expressway from Plainview to Seaford, then Seaford to Syosset & back to Plainview. Brian told me that he guarantees the battery will reset & I will pass the NYS inspection test. Brian told me to come in the following day. Unfortunately, I did not make it in the next day but the following day. Jason was there and I gave him the inspection paper. He looked at the mileage on the car & told me I need to drive it 60 more miles. I told him what Brian said. He ignored it. I then said I only have X amount of days. Jason told me that the people who are suppose to be looking are not looking( police). I put on the additional 60 miles highway driving. On Sunday, I saw a Nassau County Highway Patrol car. I was safe because I had 1 day left on the temp. Inspection. The next day I could not put the last 40 miles to make 100 miles. On August 25th I made the remaining mileage one day after the expiration date & was not stopped by the 3 police cars on the Seaford Oyster Bay Expressway. I immediately went to Plainview Auto. Jason came out & took the inspection paper & was headed to the car. I told him that the Police are on the expressway. In a friendly manner, I told him not to tell people that it doesn't matter if you pass the 10 day grace period. Jason became a different person at that point. He told me that he could not inspect the car that day. I would have to make an appointment. I told him that he had to be kidding after all I went through. Then he told me to move my car.I was blocking his bay. I told him no I am not moving my car that I am calling the police because of his harrassment towards me. He then became absolutely vicious. He disparaged me, my husband's recent death,my work as a NYS CPA. He only met me twice. I went into my car And called the eighth precinct & had to call another precinct that covered that side of Old Country Rd. Two police cars came & basically the police want to settle the dispute. They spoke with both of us. The police told me that I am in his station & Jason does not want me in his station. I left & called a Hicksville station who will do the inspection tomorrow at 9 am . There was a man there picking up his car & was laughing at the exchange. Is this the way you would want your wife, your daughter, your mother or your sister treated? I don't think so. Jason has a flash, vicious temper. I feel he needs anger management classes before someone is seriously injured. Of course this is my own opinion. read more

I've been here plenty of times before... inspections, oil changes, filter changes, when my car was stalling, etc and I've always had a pleasant experience. This past saturday I brought my car in for an inspection and oil change, all went well but when I got home I noticed they didnt change my sticker - no big deal. I drove around with my receipt just incase a cop pulled me over or ticketed me for my "past due" sticker. On monday I dropped off my husband's car for an inspection and oil change as well. I work walking distance to him so I drop my car off an pick it up after work, normally. Well, 5pm rolls around and I realized they close at 5pm (mind you I haven't heard from them all day - text or voicemail) I ran over and got there at 5:15pm all the lights were off and the doors were locked. I see my car in the lot and I'm hoping the keys are in it, considering they left my car unlocked. Well, no keys to be found and not to mention NO RIDE HOME. I had to call an uber and inconvenience a family member the next morning to drop me off at work. When I asked him what happened the next morning he tells me, "I dont know what you want from me, I have it posted everywhere I close at 5" Okay, I totally get it but sometimes time gets away from us (I was scheduled to only work until 4pm but hey, things happen) So I tell him I get that but I never heard from them all day. Normally they call my job (we ALL bring our cars to him) he continues to argue with me and tell me I must've opted out of his text alerts bc he was getting rejects from my number. I've received texts in the past from them and never turned off the service and even if I did - if he was getting rejects on his end, why not pick up the phone and call me or leave a voicemail? I wouldve ran over on my lunch break! Anyway, after all was said and done he could care less that he left me stranded in an area I dont live in with no car, he could care less I had to call an uber, he didnt even do my husband's oil change, and he didnt even have the common courtesy to call me to tell me my car was ready (like they had did literally 3 days prior). From now on, I'll be using the mechanic across the way from this shop! read more

I kept seeing how busy this shop was and took my 2005 Mercedes to them for a broken hood pull and air bag light. They fixed the hood pull and diagnosed the air bag light for me as I stood there AND DIDNT CHARGE ME !!! Brian and his mechanic came up with a plan and we set a date for the air bag repair. I cannot get over how professional everyone there was and eager to help. The hours of operation are fantastic and they have earned a new customer for sure. Thanks To Brian and his team !!! read more

As a single mother, I am always intimidated walking into an auto shop. I know nothing about cars and always feel that because of that, that I will be taken advantage of. Well, i had a great experience at Plainview auto care. First, they answered an email I had sent earlier in the week and told me to come by with my car for an inspection at the time I wanted. I walked in on a Friday after being being told at another place that I'd need to leave my car for a few hours. These guys were so courteous and so friendly, they welcomed me in, and inspected my car within a half hour. They also put on my new registration sticker without even asking me (i had taped it up there temporarily-this might sound so simple, but you know how annoying getting those stickers lined up just right on your windshield can be!) Highly recommend these guys! read more

First time coming to Jason for annual inspection and oil change. Staff are friendly and took me in right away. Service is quick and honest. Jason identified an issue on one of my tires and took the time to explain to me what I need to do. Unfortunately they don't carry my tire brand which he recommends I stick with due to the size of my car because getting a different brand will affect my alignment. Where most other shops tend to sell you unnecessary services, Jason is honest about the situation, he can easily replace my tire with a different brand but instead he gives me honest advice even if it means I have to get my tire elsewhere. I really appreciate his service and will definitely come back for different services in the future. I highly recommend this place for any auto work!! read more

I came to this place because Jason is my guy. He took care of my car when he was at STS and now that he's at Plainview Auto Care, I go here. I know I can trust these guys to do the right thing for the lowest price without sacrificing quality or integrity. I leave my car. They call me to give me an estimate after taking a look at the car and seeing what needs to be done and when it'll be done by, I agree or disagree to the the work being done (I almost always agree to it). When I go to pick up my car, it's ready and the final price is exactly or very very close to the estimate. I'm always a happy customer. If you want honest guys working on your car, this place is it. read more

We brought my parent's car in for an oil change. My sister left her number, and they called her while the car was in the shop, saying that the cabin air filter needed to be replaced. Relying on their good faith, she agreed, and was charged $60! $25 for the filter, and $35 for labor for a job that takes about three minutes. Be wary if you do business with this mechanic. read more

I brought my car in early to ensure the work would be completed the same day. There were 3 issues I requested be looked at. Turns out I'm the last car finished that day and get the call to pick it up when the shopped is closed and they're waiting to go home. Only one of the three issues had been addressed. I think, no problem, the other two issues were of lesser importance. I pay the $642 bill, start my car and the check engine light comes on. A few mechanics look at it and because it's late and cold, they ask me to return the following morning to complete a quick adjustment. Fortunately it's the weekend and I am able to come back the next morning. I'm not happy but trying to be patient. Seems bringing the car in when the shop opened for the day was meaningless in terms of getting my the work done sooner. So I drive my car home with the check engine light on and the assurance of one of the owners that the problem is minor and the car is safe to drive. Sure enough, the cars STOPS functioning on the road. It's a good thing I was on a side road and near home. In sum, only one of the three issues I asked to be addressed was looked at; it took all day to get to that one issue; the work was poor and I had to return the following day; and I was given my car in an unsafe condition to drive home. The next morning I told the other owner about the car shutting down on the road and the events of the day before. He apologized but, they gave me an unsafe car to drive. What if I was on the highway or had my family with me? Unacceptable. I'll never go back. read more

I came in during my lunch break to get my windshield wipers fixed. first of all they have the sweetest puppy that sits up front. Second of all I only had 45 minutes to get what I needed done. I offered to come back in case they needed more time, the very helpful lady at the front said it should be no time at all. They fixed my car so quick told me what was wrong and didnt overcharge me. My last experience w getting my car fixed somewhere else left me in tears. These are good, honest people and I will be getting my car fixed there from now on. read more

Visits to car repair shops and dentists can never be something I look forward to. That said, Plainview Auto Care does the best that they can to make it a less painful experience. Have used their services on our 100k+ VW Jetta a few times now, after being less than satisfied by a few other service centers around my area. Communication is excellent - they explain in detail the work that will be done, answer questions, and stick to their estimates. Love their key drop box for after hours. Makes it easy to drop the car off in the evening, and pick it up the following day when it is fixed. Repair work I've had done here so far lived up to my expectations of quality. No complaints so far. On VW specific work - they were able to order in parts from the VW dealers and get my car repaired and out within the same day. Happy to be a repeat customer, and hope they continue their good work. read more

One of my favorite experiences at a place involves making an appointment and having that appointment time be kept. That's exactly what happened here. I brought my car in at 10am, was told that it would take 30 minutes, and by 10:30, my car was finished and I was on my way to the next errand. Time is of the essence when you have little ones and not much "free time", so I greatly appreciated how prompt the service was here. I must also mention how personable and social the people who worked there were. I spent the entire time chatting with them and before I knew it my car was done! read more

Another great experience at Plainview Auto Care. My son had gotten a flat tire late on a Sunday evening. He put the donut on, and went to Plainview Auto the next morning. Not only did they take care of that tire, they checked all of the tires and found nails in 2 other tires. Unfortunately the tire that was flat could not be fixed and had to be replaced. The other 2 they took the nails out and repaired. He also got an oil change done at the same time. They were quick and reasonable. They easily could have told an 18 year old he needed all new tires and he would have been none the wiser. Jason and Brian are always honest and trustworthy. Wouldn't trust my cars to anyone else. read more

Made the mistake of forgetting to have my oil changed at Tis place before my long trip to Virginia. Instead had the oil changed at he University Tire and Auto in Virgjnia. They claim I need my wheel bearing changed. I did but felt way overcharged. When driving back I hear noises of metal brushing against each other. Plainview Auto took a look and found out the the break cover was not put in right and is brushing against my rotors. They had to fix it and only charged me $33! This place I trust. I probably would have saved money changing the wheel bearing here and the job would have been done right the first time! read more

I needed to get my car inspected. As we all know the usual repair shop will require you to drop your car off in the morning and leave it there all day. I had the complete opposite experience with Plainview Auto Care. I called the day before to make an appointment at noon the following day. I arrived at my appointment time and was told that the car would be completed within 25 minutes. I took this time to grab a quick bite at the Plainview Diner located conveniently next door. By the time I was done with lunch I walked back to Plainview Auto Care. My car was completed as promised. Could not ask for a better customer experience. read more

I'm a stranger when it comes to automotive-related matters, but Plainview Auto Care made the process as simple and convenient as can be! I'm from out of the area, and commute into Plainview several days a week, and my car was overdue for an oil change. I called to make an appointment since I work nearby, and they told me they could take my car in immediately and have it done in no time. It was a hassle-free process and I'd definitely recommend their services to anyone in the area, or anyone simply passing through who may be on a tight schedule! Great and professional service, as well as reasonable prices. Friendly folks too! read more

Highly recommended this place for auto servicing. After a real bad incident with Pep Boys (see my review of them), I came here because of the reviews I read. They took care of me and showed me where Pep Boys errors on a tire balancing. I'll never give Pep Boys a cent of my money again and have kept coming back to Plainview Auto Care for all my auto needs. Some things I have had done here are: a new clutch for my Mazda, a windshield, oil changes, inspections, tune ups, shocks and struts. All of which I was extremely pleased with the promptness of service, the quality of the work, and the pricing was reasonable. I'd trust these guys anytime and I highly suggest them. I have never been to an Auto Shop that was so Rude to it's customers. I was made to feel like my business did not matter and charged an inflated rate for work that should have been cheaper. I find that if you are not family or a friend, this shop will not go out of their way to help you. Kinda sad that they speak to people in the manner in which they do.. I watched in horror as one of the owners belittled a man just for wanting his tire checked. I would never recommend, nor would I ever go back to this shop. If you would like to find out why people do not like going to the mechanic, go to this shop. They have no trouble ripping you off. I believe in Karma. The manner in which they treat others will come back ten fold at them. DO NOT USE THIS SHOP!!!! Run..... read more

I went to this place in August 2015 to get an oil change done. I was very happy with the service. Everything went smoothly. Just yesterday I noticed the oil pressure light kept coming on. I checked the oil level which was fine then I decided to take it to the dealership to have it checked out. He checked it out and discovered that the oil was extremely dirty. How can the oil get so dirty on 4 months. He said that it seems like that the oil hasn't been changed in a long time which is why it is so dirty and the oil sensor didn't like that. The reason for that oil pressure is too low message was dirty oil. I was really shocked that the oil was never changed in August when I came to this place. I am not going back to this place. I can't trust them anymore. It's a shame. read more
