I saw a bunch of others out there struggling too. Based on reviews, this has been an issue for years. They could at least have a sign up or a note on their website that you should use a desktop version of the app. The tech for the mobile version must be mediocre or something because using it on the phone takes 30-40 mins legit. Tried going back another time because after we finally could go in, we had a great time. Friendly families everywhere and the pool itself was nice. This time, I bought tickets ahead of time so we would not have the long wait at the entry. Pop up storms were forecast- we were cool to be in and out of the pool, and it's hard to know sometimes what the weather is doing in other parts of the city. Well, we got there with the tickets paid for this time, and it was a weather delay so we couldn't get in the water for 90 minutes at the time we left, and the delay was continued because the day ended up stormy (not originally forecast). We ended up not getting to swim. They said that since the pool was technically open, I wouldn't receive a refund. I was like, I mean the reason we are here is for the water and that part is closed. No. No refund or call back from the Parks and Rec department. I normally don't write long saga negative reviews, but it seemed like since you obviously have to buy tickets ahead of time bc of that process, they should at least have a notice on the page before you pay that the water is closed for a weather delay before you spend money that day. Total waste of $31.

The snack bar is great for cheap treats and the pool has a slide, 3 diving boards, a walk-in main pool, lap pools...there's just so much room! Our fave part are the grassy areas with huge permanent shade umbrellas. I took off one star for a couple reasons: one, the grassy areas get really wet/muddy. It's worth it for the shade, but it can be a mess if you lay towels in the grass. The other reason is that they allow a lot of water toys in the pools. I've lost count how many times I've been hit with people throwing toys/balls and have been squirted in the face with super soakers. Honestly, I wish throwing balls wasn't allowed at all.

I was annoyed at the soccer parents standing around in the parking lot blocking access, and the noise from the pool. The last time I was there, I had to go through 5 different chairs before I found one that was in one piece and undamaged (presumably by said college grads' horseplay). That said, the pool itself is gorgeous. It is in the shape of a windy circle, with an island in the middle, which is pretty conducive to privacy pending that you can find a quiet spot across and away from any creepers and/or annoying guests. The pool also boasts in-pool tables and bar stools, arching fountains and in-line benches throughout the perimeter. There's a general understanding that anyone can bring in food and booze, so long as you clean up after yourself (and so far, everyone seems to do so).

Prices compare well to other community pools. This one has a very family friendly atmosphere.

In order to be up to date, the club could be remodeled. The facility is a nice place to spend a summer day at, especially when it's warm and sunny. It's a perfect place to lay down and relax or be in the pool and swim or play games and have fun. The employees are very affable. The attire the lifeguards wear is first rate. The food at the concession is pretty good. I've eaten lunch here a few times. The hamburger is delicious. At the eating area, it's nice that a TV monitor is there. If you're not in the mood to read like many people do while sitting or don't like the music being played, you can relax and enjoy a television program on the monitor. Despite some drawbacks, the Northwest Swim Club is a fine place to spend a summer day at to relax and to swim.

Accessed from Scioto-Darby bordering its north, the park is tucked between neighborhoods, fields, and golf courses. Mark K. mentioned in his review circa 2015 that there was no easy bike connection between Homestead park and here. In the five years since that weakness has been rectified with an off-road bike path running down Lappert Rd. This is the way I cycled here. Just turn south from the Heritage Trail, left at the round-a-bout at Darby, and cross the street into the bike access. The park was eerily silent for the sunny summer Saturday I visited on my ride. Normally you'd expect the place to be jumping on such a gorgeous day, but the pandemic has damper things. Connected to that fact, the public pool here is closed for the year. Normally, the Family Aquatic Center, as it is called, would be full of swimmers using its leisure pool, sports pool, lazy river, slides, and children sections. Now it has a weird, abandon amusement park feel, with the rides sticking up like ruins over the wall, and ghostly echoes of screams, laughs, and splashes that should be here coming to mine in the quiet. What I call a 'sports park' the grounds hold fields for baseball/softball, lacrosse, soccer, and disk golf. Basketball courts and tennis are of course are found, as well as horseshoe ring. There is a small amphitheater and a large sledding hill half-mooning the grounds like a Native American mound. There are some art park landscaping here, especially near the fishing pond, a rustic body split by a wood bridge. There are several shelter houses here to rent. The running/riding trail isn't all that great, but it does breeze through the heart of the park. There are several connectors that leads to and from the surrounding neighborhoods. There is also a rustic food garden found here. On the east is a Veterans Memorial garden with colorful flowers, waving flags, and reflective stones ingrained with locals who gave the ultimate price. In all a good city park with lots of amenities, easy access, and just enough artwork to give it character.
