There is some hills and walking that you may need to wear good shoes or take a rest. I saw older people resting quite a bit as some parts can be difficult, I mean you are on a mountain! There was plenty to do at the resort, including buying snack foods and shopping at Oz-themed booths. Around 9:30am we boarded the shuttle and then shortly after we left for the Land of Oz; we got there right at 10am. Without giving anything away, I was surprised at how coordinated the event was, and how we followed a pre-planned path, but we never felt like we were being hurried to the next event. I was concerned our tween boys would think the whole thing was hokey, but they had a blast too. All of the actors gave it their all, and I never saw anyone break character, which was impressive considering the amount of improv and crowd work they did. We zoomed through most everything, and we were done by a little after noon. If we had taken our time and gotten food at the Emerald City, we easily could have spent 1-2 more hours. It was an exciting event, and I'm so glad we went. There were lots of people in our time slot (1 shuttle and two school buses full), but everything was so well paced that it didn't feel overcrowded. Bit of advice: bring water and snacks in a backpack unless you are ready to pay a premium to buy them at the Land of Oz.

But once he got on the coaster, he didn't want to get off! It was around $70 for myself, my husband, my mom, and my son to ride, with my son riding twice. They have a gift shop and ticket register, coffee shop, obstacle course, and are next door to the Pie Company, where they serve New Zealand style pies; make sure to order the apple pies. They have parking in front and beside the coaster. It was busy on a Friday mid afternoon in the summer. But if you are looking for something to do with the family while on vacation I highly recommend this.

I tried a go kart for the first time and it was definitely a memorable experience. Other rides available include a carousel, pirate ship, and even an indoor drop. There are a ton of games - minigolf, race cars, shooters, etc but I prefer some classics like skee ball and basketball. This place is massive, and for its size, appears to be very well maintained, clean and tidy. We've come for Thomas the Tank Engine Day for past 3 years. Always so much fun! The kids love riding the big train, although the loud whistle scared the little one this year. But we had noise-canceling headphones, as a just-in-case, so all was well. The kids are still little and really enjoy the activities up at the top. We had a stroller, so took the free shuttle to the top, rather than the skylift. The mine train, gem mining, and the little-kid rides were a big hit. Feeding the animals (goats, llamas, deer, emus) is always super fun, too. Before you enter the animal area, you can buy ice cream cones filled with animal feed ($1 a cone). Once you've handed out all the feed, then you break the cone apart and feed it. We bought 3 cones; could probably have used a 4th. The animals were all very friendly and gentle. Even one of the llamas came over for some feed; they are usually a bit aloof. Carowinds recently revamped their midway area and re-branded it the "County Fair" adding four new…read morerides with a small town carnival feel. One of those new attractions is the DoSiDo, and its a fun take on an amusement classic. In similar a fashion to most "scrambler" style rides you're placed in a two person seat and strapped in by a bar and belt. Each seat is attached along with its sibling carts to a large arm, which is then attached to the center tower. The ride starts up and you begin to spin in a circle on your individual arm while the entire apparatus spins as well. Just before it gets up to what you think would be top speed the arms tilt upwards! Your seat is now spinning at a 45 degree angle to the ground while the center spins parallel to it. It's just as much fun as the ground based version, but a little less intense. Somehow the tilt actual puts less force into each rotation while at an angle so it's rather nice. Exciting enough to enjoy, but gentle enough to relax while riding. Great ride for the whole family.

We've been coming for Friday night Casino Bowling pretty regularly over the past few months, and we…read morealways have a blast! T to the O to the DD is hands down the BEST MC. He keeps the energy up all night, is hilarious, and really makes the experience memorable. The regular bowlers are also incredibly friendly and welcoming, which makes it even more enjoyable. After bowling, we usually stick around to play a few games of pool. My only suggestion there would be to invest in better equipment. The pool cues, chalk, and triangles could definitely use an upgrade. My one major complaint is the arcade. Unfortunately, there are quite a few games that are out of order, but the bigger issue is with the ticket payouts. Tonight alone, I won 400 tickets and 15 tickets on Deal or No Deal, 15 tickets on Big Bass Wheel, and 100 tickets on Connect 4. None of those tickets were added to our card balance. On top of that, there were several games where we'd clearly win, for example 20 tickets, but when we checked the transaction history it only credited us with 2. My fiancé and son also played games that should have earned tickets, and many of those winnings were missing as well. When we asked the employee at the prize counter, she explained that management has already been made aware of the issue but it still hasn't been fixed. She also said that some games award "points" instead of tickets, even though the games themselves clearly advertise that you're playing to win tickets. The kiosk where you check your balance doesn't explain this either, so there's no way for customers to know what's actually happening. That's incredibly misleading, especially for families with children who are excited to cash in the tickets they think they've earned. Watching their excitement turn into disappointment at the prize counter because hundreds of expected tickets never appeared is frustrating and avoidable. We genuinely enjoy coming here and will continue to bowl because the Casino Bowling atmosphere is fantastic. I just hope management addresses the arcade issues, repairs the broken games, and ensures that games either award the tickets they advertise or clearly explain how the rewards actually work. It would make the overall experience match how great the bowling already is.

So many games were not working. At least three times we had to return to the counter for a reload. We were told the manager doesn't like "out of order" signs. Interesting that I did see one "out of order" sign and some games with no lights. Well unplug the broken games!!! We left with money still on our game cards but we'd be in no rush to return. It has the potential to be a nice family place.
