I came in to enjoy a coffee while I caught up on some work on my laptop and found the place to be comfortable and laid back. The service was friendly and the coffee was very good. I just love this little coffee shop! I spent many years studying here when in college so it has a bit of nostalgia to it for me. There are comfy booths inside, bar seating, and regular tables and chairs to relax in while you enjoy your cup of Joe and your pastry. The staff has always been sweet and service is expedient every time. I prefer this locale since it's generally quieter than your larger chain locations up the road. Good coffee, yummy pastries, and even sells kingcakes from Nonna Randazzo's during Mardi Gras season. Bonus that they also have a drive through if you're just needing to zip in and out. read more

I love PJs (I frequent the one in Gonzales) It's such a nice alternative to some of the other "sterile" coffee house chains. There is a local feeling at PJs. Baristas are friendly. They know many of the patrons by name. If you don't like your coffee for any reason, they gladly remake it for you, no questions asked. They are also accommodating in adapting their offerings to your particular taste and/or dietary needs. The Velvet Ice is a favorite of mine as well as both the hot and iced Mocha. They use cane syrup to sweeten their drinks which is nice for those wanting to avoid artificial sweeteners. I feel comfortable and never rushed at PJs, and often bring a friend along. There are many things to love about PJ's coffee. They're local and I'd rather spend money on local places any day before I go to national chains. They support the New Orleans Saints...hello...no brainer there. Everything I have ordered from them has been delicious and affordable. I visited this particular location twice on a recent trip to Baton Rouge. The first time I got a frozen lemonade which was so refreshing. It was a particularly hot day and the lemonade really hit the spot. On my second visit I got the fruit and yogurt parfait with granola and a turkey and swiss croissant. The croissant was flaky and very good but the star was definitely the parfait. It was full of fruit and oh so creamy and sweet. Delicious! I'm craving another one right now in fact. I also love the Velvet Ice drinks. They are frozen coffee drinks that come in several flavors (mocha, vanilla, white chocolate) and always have a seasonal one that I have to try. The mocha velvet ice was very tasty sweet and full of coffee flavor. The turkey Swiss croissant was fluffy and light with the perfect amount of turkey and cheese. Service was fast and friendly. So where's the problem you ask-my cafe au'lait was so terrible I could not even drink. I hate wasting food/drink but this one went down the drain while I cried. The guy in the drive through was so friendly and accommodating! He gave me a ton of extra sprinkles in my velvet ice and even offered to give me more. I know PJs is a hit or miss w a lot of Louisianians..BUT it's a HIT w me!! They have, in my opinion, one of the best Skinny Vanilla Lattes w Almond Milk (no foam)!! There's no after taste and it's a very smooth coffee blend. The staff is AWESOME and remember their regulars!! I was thrilled to find that this New Orleans based coffee chain was coming to Ascension parish. I have probably frequented every Pj's location in the New Orleans metro and greater area. The owner and employees and knowledgable and friendly. I normally have them make my drink for me without ordering, and I love their creations. I was very disappointed today with my visit to your location. I decided to go inside because the Drive-Thru line was long. Which is perfectly fine. I waited in line around 8 mins before I was even acknowledged with a "We will be right with you." Not good. I knew they were busy but I was let down because your employees made eye contact with me numerous times before even acknowledging me. Then your blonde headed female employee (who also made eye contact with me numerous times) proceeded to answer the phone while i had been waiting in line for about 12 minutes. I thought that was rude and not polite at all. So I made a comment about it and your other employees heard me. My coffee and cinnamon roll were ready for me fairly quickly and they were both delicious. Also, I didn't leave a tip on the receipt and suddenly a dollar tip popped up on my card. Not cool either. Love this place. Caramel granitas are my favorite. When they first opened, I had my dogs in the backseat and they were barking while I placed my order. When I pulled up to the window to pay, the sweet employee had two big dog treats for my boys. How sweet! read more

Well I have read the other reviews. My visit was not that great. The young woman behind the counter did not greet me when I came in which was ok. No one else in there. I bought two bags of coffee. Wanted one ground. The gal was not friendly at all. Kept talking on her ear phone so I never knew if she was talking to me or not. Of course she was not. I also purchased a croissant. Asked her to grind one bag of the coffee. She gave me my ticket. I signed my ticket with her bac to me the entire time. She never turned around to say thank you or anything. So I finally left. Got home and the bottom of my paper bag was full of coffee bec she had cut the entire top of the coffee bag off and the bag could not be sealed properly. It was supposed to be a gift to take to a friend that night but no way I could give that as it looked like someone had used out of it. Manager sure needs to train this person better. read more
