Recently ordered from here and the pizza was huge and pretty good, but what really surprised us was the wings--they were amazing, even better than the pizza. I'd definitely go back just for the wings. The pizza, not the best I've had.

Luigi's Pizza in Golden Hill has really good flavor, especially the sauce, it's rich, well-seasoned, and honestly the best part of the slice. I'm giving it 4 stars because the pizza can get a little soggy pretty fast and can be pretty oily at times. That said, when it's fresh, it definitely hits the spot and satisfies a classic pizza craving. The staff is always really nice, which makes the experience even better. I also love that the Golden Hill location has a small outdoor patio. I take my lunch out there every once in a while, and it's a great little spot to sit and enjoy a slice. Overall, a solid neighborhood pizza place that I'm happy to keep coming back to.

LOTS of ! Neat combinations for sure but I already decided before going in that it was gonna be pepperoni. One slice of pepperoni, sausage, sliced meatball. Really good. Now let's talk about this Detroit style! That perfect pan pizza golden crust with that kinda airy pillowy bite. I think they're may have been hot honey on it along with the pepperoni...it was delicious! The place is as perfectly perfect as a proper pizza spot could be. The bar seating is great to share a slice and a chat. Outdoors seating is perfect for bigger groups. Stoked I found this place today!

This pizza joint is underrated for sure! They have great deals for their slices which are HUGE. I ordered the Mona Lisa and it had the perfect crust undercarriage.

My nephew, Joey, just back from 2 months in Italy, recommended Luigi's as being as close to NY pizza as you can get in San Diego. Still, he had to drive 25 minutes each way. The three of us (Joey, me, and my best friend Tenderfoot Tony) are all originally from NY, so we consider ourselves pizza snobs. We ordered a large one w half sausage, half pepper and onions. Luigi's stood up to our taste test. Thin crust, generous toppings, slightly charred undercarriage which held the toppings well. Overall, ranks right up there w pizza from NY. 4 and a half stars

I love pizza by the slice and Pizzaria Luigi has some of the best slices around. Always consistent in their flavor, dough thickness, topping quality, and variety in options. The cooks are putting out fresh pizza constantly so you know you'll always get a slice of something you like. The staff are quick and make sure the line is moving. I'll never turn down a chance to come here.

Loved this pizza spot! A whole in the wall/Secret local pizza spot! I had never tried that deep dish here but it was worth the review! The service was great thanks to Neil for having my family and I try the Pepperoni Deep Dish that had just came out of the oven. We loooved it!!! The dough was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The pepperoni, basil, cheese, marinara with the hint of honey was cooked to perfection and tastes delicious!!! We will be returning next time we're in SD again.

The only good slice I had here was the cheese slice but most enjoyable cheese pizza I've had in sd.

Being from New York, we were looking for an authentic New York pizza place. I searched for a recommendations that had been on the Food Network and found this location. If there was a six review to give them, I would give them for sure a 5+ plus plus. My fiancé was from California, but I've never been to this location. He said this was the best pizza that he's ever had in his entire life. They offer pizza by the slice, which allows you to try a variety of different types of pizza without committing to a whole pie. This was awesome because we ended up trying six different slices of pizza and we were completely in heaven. We also took Pizza home with us to Arizona and wish we had ordered more. Bruce and Lady face provided awesome service and were extremely friendly. We also love that they were very dog friendly and allowed our little golden doodle to happily sit under the table and smell her pizza. If you're in the area we highly recommend say hi to the amazing team there too.

Amazing pizza spot! One of my favorites in San Diego! They sell whole pizzas and slices. There's alot of flavors to choose from. Service is quick and fast. Inexpensive and good deals for slices and a drink. The pizza is full of flavors. Workers are friendly. Only downside is parking can be a hassle at times. Always down to come here and grab a few slices

This was a great spot for pizza slices we stumbled upon while checking out the Ocean Beach area. Their pizza slices were thin and flavorful. They also seem to have a wall with an extensive menu of other items like pastas and sandwiches which we didn't try this time. There's a couple tables indoors so it was nice to have a place to sit down and eat as well.

We found this pizzeria just riding through town trying to find some dinner. It's straight forward, order your food at the counter and sit til your number is called. there is plenty of seating outside and inside. The meatballs and pizza were delicious! Come check them out !

The pizza is really good. Personally, I like the Mona Lisa. They sell it by the slice. I get the combo: $9.95 for 2 slices with a drink. You won't regret eating here. The pizza is thin, just a heads up They have indoor and outdoor seating. They also sell beer, and the wings are really good too. Service is good ambiance is street vibes . #Pizza

    What size(s) are the pizzas?

I've seen their pizza pies and they are pretty big! Slices are a decent size too. 🍕

Do they deliver on to military base?

No. Uber Eats/ Door dash and the like cannot get on to base as they do not have the correct credentials.

Anyone know if they are open ? Tried for days. No answer

They're open now! Their Facebook page is where they update their hours. All 3 locations are open. 🙌🏽

I'm thinking abouta date night at the pizza shops my almost 3 hr drive worth it is the pizza that good?

The pizza is super good. I loved it. I don't know if it is romantic kind of place maybe sitting outside would be a good choice.

Are you guys open? I've tried calling a couple times and it goes to an automated message system?

dude, this is asking the community questions about the restaurant, not asking the restaurant directly. also, they're busy af all the time because the pizza is bomb. I'd skip the phone call and just get your butt in line.

I also gota pepperoni, basil, ricotta, hot honey slice which was better. The crust was decent and had more chew than crisp. While it was okay, I'd prefer to go to another shop when I'm craving a slice.

Pizza Wasn't the Only Thing Getting Fired Up Outside…read more We weren't even customers here, but after what I saw outside this place I definitely won't be one in the future. We were standing on the sidewalk near the red seating area in front of Filippi's Pizza Grotto for about ten minutes finishing a smoke. I had recently experienced a flare-up of a chronic illness, which significantly affected my well-being. During this episode,I had felt the need to smoke as a way to manage the heightened stress and discomfort caused by my condition. Right as we finished and were about to leave, a police car pulled up (it honestly looked like the officer was just stopping by to grab lunch). That's when an older lady employee from the restaurant suddenly came outside and said, "Do you mind moving down? The smoke is going into my restaurant." Fair request. We immediately responded respectfully with "Sorry miss," and started walking away to avoid any issue. But instead of leaving it there, she kept escalating the situation while they were already leaving, repeating things like "This is a family business, have some respect!" -- which didn't really make sense considering we had already apologized and were doing exactly what she asked. What made the whole thing feel strange was the timing. We had been standing there for around ten minutes already. If the smoke was truly bothering the restaurant, why wait until the exact moment a police car pulled up to come outside and confront us? From the outside, it honestly looked like the presence of the police suddenly gave her the confidence to make a scene and try to draw attention to us even though we were already complying. It appears she wanted to get us into legal trouble with her making it a bigger scene in front of the police. Another thing that didn't sit right with me was that we were the only Hispanics standing in the area at the time and the only people she chose to confront. I'm not saying that was the intention, but from a bystander's perspective it definitely didn't look great. Also, I'm still confused by the "this is a family restaurant" comment. What exactly does that mean in this situation? Are people who smoke not allowed to eat there? Because we weren't even customers at the moment we were simply standing on a public sidewalk and immediately moved when asked. If someone respectfully complies with your request, there's really no reason to continue escalating the situation or trying to involve the police by drawing attention to it. If this is how people are treated outside the restaurant, it doesn't exactly inspire confidence about how customers are treated inside. It appears that if you're Hispanic or a smoker you should steer clear of this place. I wouldn't be surprised if she has ICE on speed dial.

When we got there it was a 45 min wait so we sat at the bar. The bartender was very nice and helpful. The cider I got was ok but it was only $9 so I'm not complaining. Let's talk about food. I got the burrata pizza. This was my fault cause i was still expecting sauce but there was none. Which I kind of understand but for $19 I would have rather just got a burrata platter as like a dip. The dough was honestly amazing. Crust is very fluffy, closer to the center is extremely thin. Overall it was good and fresh but I wouldn't pay $19 for it again. Sister got the spicy salami. Again the dough was good. Sauce was good definitely a more savory red sauce. Salami was fs spicy, we love spice but this fs had a kick. Overall good I think it could have been great with a hot honey. Pizza is on the bigger side. There's only 4 slices but it's more like 8 regular slices. More than enough for one person. We both only had half and saved the rest for home. To wrap it up, the ambiance is good for a nice night out but the food is only ok for the price. Very fresh and good but I would rather spend less on a good pizza than more on a gourmet place. Would recommend for a nice date night or something like that.

Next, we got a glass of prosecco. I told the waiter that I only like wine that tastes much more sweet then bitter or strong and he made a perfect suggestion along with giving us a sampler of 3 different wines which was so generous. I got to try them all and pick the one I liked the most, but even the samples were a generous size. For main course I got one of the current options for the cheese wheel pasta they make in front of you in cacio e pepe and my husband got the formaggi pizza with truffle mushrooms. My husband absolutely loved his pizza and the crust was one of the best he's ever had. My pasta was fresh and had a ton of sauce and cream so they didn't skimp at all. I could tell easily that they use very high quality Parmesan because i'm a Parmesan connoisseur and could taste how potent it was. They let me have as much extra as I wanted on without limiting since I enjoy a lot on it which was also a plus in my book. Next time I would get a pasta that's a little lighter, because it was a more heavy dish and it tends to make me feel pretty full after which is totally a me thing, but they have so much on the menu to try that I'm sure I'll love whatever I get even more next time. Lastly, dessert. We got a regular tiramisu and it was absolutely amazing. They put a ton of cream which is exactly what I look for. It wasn't too espresso or cocoa strong and had a perfect ratio. The cream was so light and fluffy that we had to get another one to bring home and eat tomorrow night! I had seen a previous review on here about someone not liking the tiramisu here and it not meeting their expectations for a more upscale Italian place but I've been to quite a few authentic Italian gems and this one had tiramisu up there so I'd have to disagree and completely recommend! The service was impeccable. Every waiter was kind and prompt, constantly making sure we were taken care of and getting what we needed. The atmosphere was also a plus for us because we have a 1 year old baby and there was enough room where we weren't too cramped or crowded in, and it wasn't too loud or overstimulating. The place was very clean and taken care of as well as the bathrooms. All in all, I loved this place and I will be coming back. I would definitely recommend Monello for a nice little date night, and don't forget the tiramisu.

I honestly come just for this. It's served with a honeycomb on the side, and drizzling the honey over the warm, cheesy bread is next‑level.
