The food itself is good, but my experience with management was extremely concerning. When I was there, the owner/manager Michael appeared heavily intoxicated while operating the restaurant and was still attempting to handle customer deliveries. During one delivery run, he drove recklessly through residential streets, ignored stop signs, and behaved in a way that made me genuinely uncomfortable about safety. I ultimately ended up driving the remainder of the deliveries myself because I did not feel safe continuing as a passenger. I also spent several days helping around the restaurant with deliveries, errands, and customer orders after being asked to help out, and despite all of that, I was never paid anything for my time. During that period, the drinking also did not stop, which made the entire situation even more concerning. Again, the food was good, but the operational side of what I witnessed was alarming and something I think people should be aware of. read more

Came in on a Sunday late afternoon around 4pm. There were two families here. Wasn't sure if they were stuffing their face and not talking or they had an argument at their table or the food wasn't good because there wasn't a lot of talking and their faces didn't look too happy. We ordered just a calzone with cheese and pepperoni. We were tempted to get a pizza to soak up the beer we were drinking but it was a bit high the prices and we like it greasy and the one we saw on the table looked a bit more dry and healthier. The salads also looked super good and we were tempted to get it but decided to come back another time to get it. The calzone we got was huge. So it feels like it was justified by the price. It came with a huge tub of sauce which as people who love sauces, we were happy about. The dough was a little dried out but not unedible. The cheese could have been cooked a bit more to make it super gooey but again not a deal breaker. We rated it a 3 and a 3.5. Inside felt like a classic Italian joint. With eight-ish tables and a view that looked directly into the kitchen. The service was great super friendly and quick. read more

REVIEW ABOUT THEIR PIZZA DOUGH AND HOW MY PIZZAS TURNED OUT AS I USED IT AT HOME: *Ordered 50 dough balls* for my outdoor wood fired pizza oven party. We picked it up on Friday (it was drizzling). The half sheet pan I brought was a mere dream-- it wouldn't have stood a chance to the dough. 50 dough balls, 3 heavy duty sheet pans of it. Insane! Michael came out and helped carry the trays to the car for us. Since we were prepping for a big party, we only had one section of the fridge available for the tray. We stacked the dough on top of each other, separating it with parchment paper and some more cling wrap. We wanted to trap the moisture in because our fridge doesn't get as cold as the walk in fridges at the restaurant. We worked as fast as we could to transfer the dough to one pan but during that time a few of the dough balls began rising! The next day, the dough had tripled in size in the fridge. Honestly I was a bit scared we ruined it! Luckily, it was ok. We remade them into tightly fitted dough balls and then let them rise 30 min ish outside the fridge as we fired up our oven. At max heat (2 hours later), the oven was +900F and we were cooking pizzas under 3-5 minutes. Cranking out combo pizzas for our family left n right. The pizza dough cooked beautifully and was not raw for any of them! Even if we used our hands (the non experienced pizza dough makers, couldn't work them flat so I brought out the rolling pin). The dough was delicious and we had about 11 dough balls left over for a +70 crowd. I'd use DeLuca's Pizza dough balls again if I ever had another party! We called in advance and scheduled when we would pick it up. For 50 balls, it costed $100 ($2 per ball). That's a really good price! I contacted several other pizza spots around San Diego and their prices ranged from $3-6. DeLuca's was the best pricing! Also, when we came into the restaurant the pizza smelled incredible. I know next time I'll have to grab a slice. (And return the trays). read more

Was in the mood for some pizza and I was in the north park neighborhood. So I search for pizza and this was the closest spot. The cashier recommended the two best pizzas were the bbq chicken and Bianca pizza (4 different cheeses ) . So we got those and they were so good, my favorite was the bbq pizza. We also got some wings and we shared the shrimp Alfredo pasta. Definitely coming back to try some more different pizza and pastas. read more

I went to pick up a veggie special pizza, when we started to eat it tasted like perfume or soap, we think it was the artichokes or something in the dough. I called them to let them know and the person who answered the phone was kind of rude, he asked for my phone number and told me someone would contact me, nobody did. A little confusing, we ordered from "La Trattoria" on Uber Eats and ended up at De Luca's which was the correct restaurant from which to pick up the food! The pizza was good and was very clearly freshly made, the sausage side was also tasty although not quite like the picture - it was actually sausage covered in sauce and cheese and even better than expected :) The area is a little tricky for parking as it's all street parking, but it's not terrible. It's right next to thorn brewing as well if you're interested in taking food over to the brewery to enjoy while playing trivia. The restaurant is a little tiny but cozy and quaint. Overall, we will probably be back either just for the pizza or for the combination with trivia! read more

We placed an order for pick up for some calzones. When we got there, the guy was on his phone, and was kind of rude when he asked us what we were there for. We told him we were there to pick up calzones and he gave us someone else's to go order, and we knew it was the wrong one because he handed us pasta, even though we specifically said 2 calzones. So, the service wasn't the best. I hope it's better when people dine in. As for the taste, we'll, it wasn't anything memorable. This is our favorite pick up pizza joint in town. It's got an old school, pizza parlor vibe, and the staff is always very friendly. It's a great neighborhood spot and isn't overpriced. I was very excited when I saw this place open. I miss the old Peppinos. So, my wife and I made reservations for Christmas Eve online. Then, at 12:30 THAT DAY, we got a text message telling us they would not honor the reservation and that they would close at 2:00 PM. In other words, ninety minutes from the time we got the text. They really couldn't let us know a day or two in advance. So now, we had nowhere to go for dinner on the biggest holiday of the year. When I called to complain, they had a "tough S**T" attitude. When I spoke with the manager, he ended the conversation by saying, "I don't have time for this," and hung up. I miss the old Peppinos, but I would rather eat at Olive Garden than a place that has such disregard for its patrons. If they value their customers so little, one wonders what happens in the kitchen. The food may be good, but there are MANY fine restaurants in the area. I don't need to go somewhere that treats me like I don't matter. I suggest that you find one of these others. I picked up an XL pizza yesterday for lunch and also ordered a slice of chocolate cake to go. I took two giant slices of pizza to work, along with my dessert. I reheated both pieces since I like my pizza extra crispy! The dough is made fresh daily, and I can tell that their special tomato sauce and mozzarella was fresh. The slices were generously loaded with pepperoni, Canadian ham, and sausage. I ate both in one sitting because I was hungry and the pizza was very tasty! The chocolate cake was pretty good too. Went there first day of restaurants reopen phase 2. Resturant was open for dine in and and take outs, everyone was wearing masks. Restaurants smells fresh and clean. Fresh food and excellent service! And Shamene, the manager was so friendly, welcoming Too many and unusual choices to choose from and it was pretty good. Prices were decent. For pizzas, you can order by slice or by whole pie. The cook was on his cell phone when I walked in to place an order... he started to prepare the food without washing his hands. I nicely asked for him to wash his hands...his response was that wasn't my problem. I asked again and with agitation he told me to take my business elsewhere. Got take out here. We stayed at an Airbnb literally like 500 ft away. It was so convenient to order and walk over for pick up. We ordered the De Luca special pizza, the Tornado sub, chicken Alfredo, the chicken wings, and the chocolate cake. I highly recommend the Tornado sub. It was really good! The bread was a sesame sub and toasted perfectly. They also add an oil vinegar topping on the sub. It was soooo good. The Alfredo sauce was amazing as well. It was super garlicky! So prepare for that garlic breath. The pizza, chicken wings, and everything else was pretty good for a local pizza spot. The standouts for me were the tornado and the Alfredo. Absolute crooks. I called in advance and specifically asked if they had angel hair pasta prior to placing my DoorDash order and they confirmed yes. Once order was placed they called back to tell me they didn't have it. I asked them to cancel the order and they said they would but never did. By the time I tried to cancel it, it wouldn't let me without being charged the full amount. I called back twice, first time I was told to cancel it myself and 2nd I was hung up on. Had to reach out to customer service to get a refund. Not a happy camper being hungry and having to deal with their negligence. I was in the Area and wanted pizza so I tried this place out, they had for take out Soo I ordered the veggie pizza and it had artichokes, mushrooms, red onions, and olives and ask to add sausage, the crust and sauce were very tasty, the hot wings, and anti pasta salad, everything was very delicious and the staff was very nice.
