This is the place I would take somebody from out of town to show off how good the pizza on Staten Island is. Never had a bad meal here, went here for my birthday yesterday. read more

Definitely worth the hype. If you are looking for a high spot, that seems to be a neighborhood institution, go here. The pizza is excellent and the vibe has that old school family feeling. Like a place where you take your family on a kid's milestone birthday. Actually got the pizza to go, and the customer service was excellent. The pie arrived even faster than I thought it would. read more

Restaurants that take care of their customers and employees are some of the best I have been to, and this one is no exception. Schlepping all the way out to Staten Island for this pizza was a risk I decided to take, and it paid off. The restaurant is close by the Staten Island Railway, and inside feels like a true Italian pizzeria, but not like one you would see in Brooklyn. This one is more high quality, and it shows in their pizza. The pizza is phenomenal. Outstanding. I got two pies, one red and one white, for contrast and both are worthy of terrific merits. El Naso, the red pie, is beautiful in color and taste. The porky sausage and the hot soppresata add a nice flavor to the pie, the crispy crust, it was all lining up nicely to be a great pie. I am happy I went with my gut and got this. For my white pie suggestion, I asked my server, Leslie (more on her in a moment), what to get. She suggested El Pizzaiolo. Like the red pie, it tastes gorgeous thanks to the silky and luxurious truffle oil. The crimini mushrooms and Italian sausage accentuate it beautifully and the Parmesan reggiano cheese provides a sharp, salty note to the pie. It rounds the whole thing out nicely. Leslie is one of the reasons I enjoyed my experience. At first I thought she was just a tease with her giggly and youthful demeanor, but after talking to her I found something more deeper and meaningful. There is a depth of intelligence that she has but a naïveté that needs to be cracked before her. The fact that tips mean nothing to her speak volumes about who she is. I really wanted to give her something significant to take home with her, but fun conversation and the fact she is mentioned here will be enough for now for this attractive, lissome soul. Since both pies filled me up nicely, I had to pass on dessert. But I promised that down the line I will be back because the pizza is just so darn good. Leslie, thank you for the lovely experience and I hope someone sees my compliment and gives you a little extra in your next paycheck. You deserve it. Like this pizzeria well deserving of a five star review. read more

We haven't been in this place for many years and me, being the biggest lover of white pizza, decided to come back and order one white and one red pie. We tried white one first and it was something off and taste was wrong for both of us. Red pie with sopressata was super good. We decided to try white again and it was the same. Because we wasn't far from restaurant, I decided to go and tell them our problem (and I'm introvert so it was stressful for me). I explained our problem and they offer me to make a new pie. Main chef came and asked how I would like it. I told you can make omakase (chef choice). And he made us SUPER GOOD PIE! It was unbelievably delicious. 10 stars and excellent costumer service! read more

Pasta parpadelli was very good, the pizza was good but a little salty. Service was ok. Not a long wait, a little pricey but everything is expensive nowadays i suppose. Will come back. Small and cozy restaurant. The salad was not that good, too sweet and too much dressing. read more

My boyfriend and I had a date night at Giove Sunday evening. We had an excellent meal and cannot wait to come back! He has been there before, but it was my first time. We decided on the caprese for our appetizer and then we split the large vodka pie for our main course. It was absolutely delicious! I wish I knew our waiter's name because he no was so nice and attentive. In the beginning of the night, I had ordered an apple spritz and developed a small allergic reaction to it causing me to stop drinking it and to take Benadryl. Our waiter took the drink off our bill and replaced it with a cappuccino which was very yummy. The ambience was cozy and intimate and a great date night spot! We will be returning soon! read more

This is a nice small restaurant with a large pizza menu, featuring white and red sauce options. It's fun to watch the pizza being prepared. We got 2 pies, wings, mozzarella sticks and chicken entrees with veggies sautéed with garlic and oil. Everything was delicious and service friendly and attentive. We've come here when visiting family and it's always great. read more

I will start by simply saying this place makes the best pizza in NYC and every visit is a challenge to figure out which of the many great pizzas we are going to order. Tonight we ordered 5 smaller pizzas (6 slices each) for the 6 of us that went, just because we couldn't decide. We got the famous Variopinta, Del Pizziaolo, Parma and La Barese to start and for "desert" we got a classic cheese. We debated which was the best on never came to consensus. Stop reading and go now. If you want to keep reading my other thoughts feel free. I may be from Chicago (hold back comments about our stuffed pizza) but I am ready to admit, despite being a life-time Chicagoan, that NY style pizza is the best!! I manage to get up to New Haven and NYC quite a bit for work. I use these opportunities to do everything I can to find the greatest pizzas. Pizzeria Giove is my favorite hands down. I hate to admit I found this place because my in-laws live 3 blocks away. I'm used to finding gems thru lots of web research and watching Guy Fieri. I know this post is getting long but I need to say that the most important thing about this place is Giorgio, the owner. The guy is a legend--he has lived my dream life making pizza and living in Italy. But most important for this review is that the man has been at the restaurant making the pizza EVERY TIME I come. That is what differentiates this shop. He didn't stop after he perfected the recipe. He has dedicated his life to making people happy. And he is a good guy. He is always friendly and willing to chat about whatever you desire (in my case, giving advice how my kid can improve his pizza dough recipe). Thanks again Giorgio for giving me time, advice and another great dinner!! read more

Pizzeria Giove - Giorgio making a Margherita pizza with olives. I only wish I wasn't so full or would have ordered this also!! - Italian Near Me - Staten Island, New York

This place had some really good food. The appetizers were to die for. I didn't get photos of everything. The Shrimp Parm was not to my liking, too salty. The Chicken Parm was excellent. I can't attest to the rest but my daughter said the Pesto Pasta was really good. The Cheese Pizza was excellent. The service was impeccable. We were seated quickly and constantly checked on to see if anything was needed. The place was a little small but very clean with a nice atmosphere. I don't know the price because my son in law snuck and paid for it but I am assuming it was over 300 for 7 of us. And he left a 100 dollar tip. Overall it was a great place and we will go back when we visit again. read more

Pizzeria Giove - Arugula with half sausage, half prosciutto - Italian Near Me - Staten Island, New York

After reading the reviews, we decided to give this place a try after a company picnic. We were immediately seated after arriving. The restaurant is medium in size, with tables seating up to 4 people covering every inch of the floor. Towards the back is the kitchen, which you can watch while you wait for your food to be ready. Framed pictures also adorn the walls as well and the restaurant is dimly lit to evoke an elegant atmosphere. We ordered the following: Polipo al Rosmarino, which is pan-seared octopus with rosemary and creamy potato puree. Instead of potato puree, they gave us potato croquettes instead. I felt that there was more croquettes than octopus. Hubs didn't like the fact that the server didn't tell us that they didn't have potato puree while we were ordering it. If we had known that it was all fried, we wouldn't have ordered it. Small Bresaola Special, which is air dried and salted beef that has been aged for two to three months and served thinly sliced. Hubs liked it but didn't care for He said that it was similar to smoke beef jerky but it's on him because he wanted to try it. Daughter said that she liked it and thought it was tasty. I thought it was ok but I was a little disappointed with it. Small Margherita, which is San Marzano tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, basil & EVOO. The Margherita pie was good but nothing special. Daughter and I liked the Margherita. We thought it was tasty. Service was quick and friendly. Will probably return to try other items on the menu. Reason why I deducted a star is because we didn't care that they did a switcheroo on the potato puree with us. read more

I am new to the Staten Island dining experience, so I usually ask for recommendations. Somehow, this is the one place no one ever mentioned until recently one person told me about it. If your thing is too find a good eat in Pizza spot where you can order a personal pie with an espresso. The Pizzeria Giove is where you want to go. It's a quaint space in the middle of a hectic New Dorp Lane. Heard so many good things about Pizzeria Giove that we finally had to try it for ourselves, cozy indoor atmosphere to dine in and the delicious pizza smell hits you right when you enter. The best pizza in Staten Island! Pizza tastes best if you dine in. Super thin crust, crispy. No flop. High quality ingredients. Unique and unlike any other pizza I've ever had. Very delicious, thin crust pizza. Worth the treat once in a while. Toscana $27, Prosciutto Crudo $24, and Fungi $22 were delicious. Definitely preferred the thin crust to traditional, as the proportion of dough to other ingredients was a better fit for me. This place is always packed, as the seating is very limited. Always a line at the door, waiting to be seated, so plan accordingly. Delivery or take out takes some time, so learn patience in the face of hunger. Prices for pizza pies are not cheap, for SI. read more

Needed a spot to eat and found this nearby. Apparently, they were on throwdown with bobby flay and I am a huge fan of the food network. The pizza that was on the show was kind of funky but it worked. Visiting from Las Vegas and took my family who lives in the area to try as we saw the clip from the old Bobby Flay shows. The pizza was as good as it gets, the staff was great, and the place is really nice. Everything was absolutely delicious! Service was phenomenal and they make you feel like you sitting at home with family. Great time!

One of the best pizza and sandwich place on the island! My boss introduced me to this place and we shared a large pie and calamari between 3 people which was more than enough. The calamari was delicious and you need to ask them to pair it with the hot marinara sauce (it has a nice kick to it if youre obsessed with spicy like I am). The pizza was really good too but my favorite is the panini. So on my 2nd visit I took my best friend here, and she also fell in love with the panini. The hot sorpressata one with cheese and olives just mixed really well together. It was more like a calzone then a panini but either way this is officially one of my favorite place on the island! read more

Love the pizza options! We ordered the garlic herb pizza and the Giove white pie. The garlic herb was fantastic. I will definitely be back to order that pie again! My boyfriend didn't like the fresh cherry tomatoes on the white pie-- he was expecting something else than what was described on the menu. I thought it was really great but it was more like a salad pie. We ordered take out and it was ready pretty quickly. Everything came out fresh and hot right as we arrived to pick it up. I'm picky with my pizza and love this spot! Both the thin crust and regular pie are phenomenal! I come here often for lunch and between the vibe (indoor and outdoor), the food, and the service, there is nothing that disappoints! Even the pricing is very reasonable which makes it easier to come here more often on my lunch break. You have to try the pizza, burrata, baked clams oreganoto, tiramisu and Ofcourse affogato before anything else. Ofcourse everything on the menu, even the salads are delicious! Those are just my personal favorites. read more
