First time I had big Al's catering and I have to say it's the best Italian food ive ever had. I rarely am in Staten Island and I'm not surprised the Italians out here have the best food! Pizza is edible, but not good. Delivery time is decent, but when received pizza was lukewarm at best. Cheese, as the pizza cools, forms into one big clump and is not very appealing. read more

Stood outside in the wind freezing, waiting for a cup of sauce for near 10 minutes after they said "one second", clearly they forgot or didn't want to give it to me. The apps were good, and the pizza was fun to eat. My main criticisms are two-fold--one, I ordered garlic as a topping, and did not have any garlic on it. I'm eating the pizza as we speak, and it is good. But I paid two bucks for garlic and didn't get it. Second criticism .. I HATE oregano. And they throw a lot on there. I negated it by picking some off and adding salt. Crust is perfect, nice Sicilian style pizza [Chicago? not so much but I ain't mad. I ain't Chicago-bred =) ] The food is good and I'm enjoying it. The people always accommodate you with food allergies. Their food is the best in the neighborhood. Thee prices are unbeatable. I never had an order that was not good. I have been going there for years now and everone is polite and will help you. None of the crusts are pre-made and have that frozen taste like many nearby pizza shops. read more

Great spot to grab a slice of pizza or sausage and peppers. The food is always good and I also order the penne vodka which is pretty good to. The sausage and peppers is one of the best dishes to get in my opinion because it's always cooked perfectly and taste amazing. read more

We really like big al's, they make good pizza and their rolls are delicious. My favorite is their meatball roll, it's almost the size of a hero, filling and tasty. Their Heros leave something to be desired. My husband had the veal parm hero and the veal was like leather. This is not the first time we had a bad hero there. So all in all if you stay away from the Heros an stick with the pizza or rolls you will enjoy your meal. read more

Delicious! Thought I reviewed this long ago. This place has a distinctive taste that is delicious! They ask thick or thin for pizza or fries, which was appreciated. They always deliver fast and their prices are more affordable than any other pizza place that wants to overcharge on the island. One thing I might add is I usually only order a plain pie and fries with garlic knots. All are very good but I can only eat from here every once in a while due to their distinct taste. That may sound picky but I think it's understandable when you've tried them compared to other pizza places (not that they're bad still...argh how to explain this...) try them and you'll find out!!! read more

I may have enjoyed this meal if I had eaten it there instead of delivery as it was extremely soggy n oily.. The sauce has a great taste and if the pizza had any sort of crisp I think it would have been good. I got the fried calzone which again was a ball of oil n terrible but the inside had good flavor. I will never order from this establishment again after the lying and attitude my husband and I received over the phone with the girl we spoke with. I put an order in at 5:32, and at 7:15 my food was still not delivered. I had to call numerous times because the line was busy, and when I did finally get through I was immediately placed on hold for 7 minutes. She finally comes back on the line and I explain my issue and she puts me back on hold. After another 3 minutes she says the order was not in the restaurant so it must be out for delivery. After waiting 10 more minutes my husband called back and he was placed on hold for 5 minutes. When she comes back on the line he explains verbatim what I said the first time I called, only this time she says they never received any order. When my husband called her out on lying to me only 10 minutes prior she gave him an attitude about being the one who takes all online orders and it "never came through". How about do your job correctly and not lie to your customers, and maybe, just maybe learn how to properly speak to customers. read more
