The classic Italian food is ideal for lunch or dinner and the restaurant itself, while sophisticated and quite refined is rather laid back and tere is a very informal feel here which is appealing. There is a mix of salad dishes, appetizers and specials available. Insalata dell'Orto e del Mare or Seafood Salad went down a treat; the ingredients were so fresh and tender and only £5. divine. I was really impressed. Forgot to mention- the desserts are AMAZING; Tuscan biscuit; apple tart; pancakes; sorbets there's so much to choose from!

This place is packed to the rafters on weekends, after all it's in a prime Southport location on Lord Street where all the very nice shops are and the lovely architecturally historic buildings and the beautiful branch of Waterstones set in an old bank and whatnot. So no doubt hoards descend upon it of an evening, thus you'd be wise to book in advance if you fancy a pizza or pasta here. It's classic rustic Italian fare with a sprinkling of creativity. The salads as starters wind up being absolutely ridiculously huge, and would easily do as a main course despite being only £5.95, and the pizza here is the stuff of legends. Everyone in Southport seems to rave about it and rightly so, it's crisp, fresh and exactly as you'd expect it in Italy with lovely simple thin toppings and doesn't leave you feeling like a doughball by the end of it. There are plenty of pastas to choose from too, and the one with artichokes and truffle oil is just divine. Meanwhile if you're catching lunch there the sandwiches can be made with foccacia. Could I be any more sold? The cheese platter with pears is a glorious way to finish off the meal with a sweet and savoury combo, but if you're in the mood for something far more indulgent there's the quintessential tiramisu, chocolate crepes, pistachio ice cream, apple tart or caramelised fruits with amaretto and marscapone which I really couldn't resist - try it and see what heaven really tastes like. All in all, reasonably priced with great service and a superb wine list in a gorgeous setting. Nothing to complain about here.

I'd never tried any of their new Romano pizzas but both the Etna, which is apparently very popular, and the Emilia were very tasty (yes, I enjoyed my first visit so much that I went back for another try). These are real pizzas, not like the ersatz stuff served up by Dominos and the like. If you like mushrooms, you'll find the Emilia very tasty, but there's a wide range of pizzas, and also some good salads, to be had here. Pizza Express have managed to maintain their quality despite expanding all over the country, and I've actually never been disappointed by a meal at any of the venues I've tried.

There's a few small benches on the wall, but people mainly use those as they're waiting in line, which around here is all the time. So I can't possibly be the only one loving this place. They're kebabs and pizza are always fresh. I honestly don't think I've had a bad one. When you order delivery they're incredibly fast and nice as can be, and I haven't had a screwed up order yet! When you walk in they'll have a smile on their face, and make sure you leave with one on yours as well!

However, all this is forgotten when you've ordered and your pizza arrives ready to be devoured. An ex-girlfriend once told me this was the best pizza in the area and I would easily agree. The pizza bases are perfectly doughy and chewy, and they manage to get the ratio of cheese to tomato just right too. The toppings they offer are wide ranging and generously thrown on and although you'll end up paying a bit more than your average kebab/pizza takeaway, you really can taste the difference. They even put those little plastic divider things in the middle of the pizza. One gripe I do have is that they aren't closer to Formby (they don't deliver there either), meaning I can only enjoy a slice or six if I go there myself (we all have our vices). Little Sicily Pizzeria. In reality though, this little takeaway shop in Maghull looks like anything but a traditional family run Italian pizzeria. The shop itself is small in size and pretty plain-looking, with the layout inside fairly basic as well. Thankfully, image doesn't mean everything with Little Sicily as despite the plain and basic shop layout, their food is made to a very high standard. They offer a range of different pizza sizes as well as many delicious and interesting toppings, ensuring that anyone's tastes can be met here. Their pizzas can be a little bit more expensive than your bog-standard takeaway, but you can taste the difference. I prefer Perfect Pizza down the road if I'm honest, but Little Sicily is still a great place to go for pizza if you fancy it.
