As a Glasgow and Edinburgh Yelper, I rarely find myself down South, but on a recent break to…read moreBlackpool I visited Nunzio's for the 4th time in my life and once again, I was not disappointed.
I have to say, I think Nunzio's is my absolute favourite place to eat in the world. I have yet to find somewhere I have enjoyed more. From the reception we received, the décor of the restaurant, the duo of musicians who played beautifully throughout our meal....Everything was just perfect, just like a traditional Italian should be.
Usually, I go for pasta in Italian restaurants. I have done each of the three previous times, but this time I decided to go for something different, and settled on the Sea bass with garlic, spinach and pesto. The presentation was fantastic, served with baby potatoes and fresh vegetables, and the fish was simply divine. It melted in the mouth, and coupled with the spinach and pesto combination, this was probably one of the nicest main courses I have ever had.
I was a little concerned when it came to desert because the menu looked like one of those ones you get where the deserts have been bought in from a supplier and are served in plastic tubs, a complete no-no and absolute pet hate of mine. I was pleasantly surprised then, when the tiramisu I had was served on a plate with chocolate sauce, and it was delicious. I am not sure if it was home made but, either way, it tasted divine! Washed down with the last of our bottle of house wine, which was superb for a measly £13-ish, we were satisfied and full to the brim.
Unlike other restaurants, especially ones as popular as Nunzio's, we never once felt rushed to finish our meal and get out, which can really put a complete dampener on an otherwise lovely meal. We didn't get to the restaurant until around half past 9 and we didn't leave for about 2 hours! It was a lovely relaxed atmosphere, and I think Nunzio's might be the sort of place that only closes when the last drop of wine has been drunk.
It has a complete aura of hospitality, and every single member of staff makes you feel welcome and wanted, almost like part of the family. The food really is outstanding, nothing is rushed, the music and the wine is flowing and bellows of laughter are heard at regular intervals as the restaurant manager, Nunzio himself, does the rounds of the restaurant making sure everyone is having a good evening.
Fantastic food, fantastic staff. The epitome of Italian culture in rainy Blackpool!
