Crust. What really matters in a pizza. A pizza, from as simple as ham and cheese toppings to as extravagant as lobster and truffles, won't be a really good bite if the crust or dough is not properly made. You might just want to eat the toppings instead. Besides, toppings are common and readily available. With a good crust, you can still be addicted to it even if you are full. For Pizza World, they have mastered the art of making the pizza dough.
Pizza World is a relatively new restaurant along Kamagong and Chino Roces Streets in Makati. The owners are Filipinos and of Persian descent, so that is why they make good flatbreads and other kinds of breads. The store is small, but it has a second floor. The owners are there most of the time and are very accommodating, and will guide you on your pizza choices. Parking might just be a bit difficult.
Back to the pizza. They really have a good crust. It is thin, yet chewy. Everything is handmade and cooked in a traditional wood fire oven. They offer classic flavors and special ones, even those with an Arabic flavor. The pizzas are very affordable and are made with the freshest ingredients.
For this visit, we tried Texas Ranch, Persian, Greek, Big Boy's, and Pizza World Special. My favorite would be the Greek and Pizza World Special because of the unusual ingredients and perfect combination of flavors. The only setback for me are the toppings which are chopped really fine, generous, but fine. The flavor is there but the texture isn't, but I heard this is the Persian way of having pizza, and I respect that.
Aside from pizzas, they offer pastas, appetizers, and rice meals. We tried the Spaghetti Special, which is really special because of the addition of cumin. The pasta is fragrant, chewy, and has good flavor. It's not as red as I initially expected, but I ended up devouring everything and don't plan on sharing.
The store has a pizza parlor ambiance and the "love for you and pizza" quotes painted on the wall are a good read, especially while you are waiting for your pizza.
Looking forward to visiting again soon to try the other flavors. Hopefully, they will accept credit card payments, and have deliveries soon. read more
