You order online, but somehow there is a disconnect from what you order and pay for and what you get. We ordered a pepperoni pizza - the good stuff that curls up when heated and collects all that greasy goodness, and two bottles of sparkling water. When the hubby went to pick up our order the counter person insisted we didn't order or pay for the water. I placed the order and my Apple Pay indicated I did in fact pay for it. So we ended up double paying, but it wasn't worth heading back out in the rain to clear things up. I will say the pizza was delicious, so maybe worth it? Just be sure to take a screenshot of your order so they don't unintentionally rip you off.

It checks all of the boxes: thick, chewy, crispy, cheesy, saucy. One of my favorite pizzas is Detroit style pizza, which I actually discovered in Los Angeles, where I tried at no less than five different places. Most were really good, but AJ's Detroit pizza humbled all of the ones that are still there. I could have eaten half of it by myself. (The leftovers re-heated great and were just as satisfying the next day.) Note that AJ's regular pizza is great as well, but don't pass up the opportunity to enjoy their Detroit style.

The kid's cheese pizza turned out really good - thin crust, Neapolitan style with slightly charred puffy crust from the wood oven. Our son ate most of it before the brick-chicken arrived! 2. The smaller dishes are meant to be shared - the Japanese Sweet Potatoes and Roasted Cauliflowers are good sides for a protein-rich entree. Wife ordered the lighter Baja Scallops and enjoyed them. 3. The star of the dinner was the Brick-Pressed half chicken. Crispy seared crust and super-moist meat underneath. Unlike many places they added a bit of spice from the chilis and even mixed in some beef tallow for additional richness. Our son enjoyed it too, and was not fazed by the slight heat from the chilis. A crispy skin always elevates a chicken! Highly recommend Nightingale for epic food, great service, and welcoming vibe. Reservations are available but make them early. We ordered a small deep dish margharita ($19.99) and a medium deep dish butter chicken ($23.99) pizza. Both weren't true deep dish pizzas, but the crust was nice and thick. I'd recommend the pizzas here to anyone who likes a breadier crust. My only minor complaint is that the pizzas didn't have enough sauce to complement the thick crust. The pizzas kept well for leftovers too. They tasted just as good the next day heated up in our toaster oven.
