Love this place! Absolutely a prime hidden gem in Tacoma, the night life is so interesting and the food hits the spot too

This place has a different menu from when my partner and I went earlier this year. And it was a very good choice! We had the tandoori paneer pizza and omg was it good! The dough is delightfully crispy on the bottom, even though there were many toppings on it and the edge was nicely chewy in the center. The bartender was very nice and friendly and turned out to be one of the owners. You can get a full pie but if you're not that hungry you can also get a slice from a select variety. Both at a very reasonable price. On Mondays they do bingo and Thursdays karaoke, both starting at 18:30 (6:30pm). They also have a comedy open mic I forgot what day that was. They are kid friendly at the front of the pub and have a pool table, darts, and a claw machine. We will definitely be back. read more

Very cute pub on the 6th Ave strip! It was my first visit here - my fiancé has raved to me about it in the past so I'm glad I got the chance to check it out with him. Similar to other bars on 6th Ave, it's got a divey feel (which is my absolute fave). They've got a great selection of beers and ciders. We only stopped in for a quick drink so I could check it out, but would love to return for the pizza next time as I hear it's pretty good. They also have a few older arcade/pinball games which is fun if you're into that. In addition they also have a dartboard, which is where it's at for me. Thursday in for a salad and pizza! Not busy... that's good! Our Bartender server was great. Chatted with us for a bit too. We decided to split our salad and they put them on two little plates... awesome! Spinach, cranberry, walnuts, & feta with Balsamic Vinegrette. It was so good. The pizza was just as well remembered. Fresh dough, fresh ingredients. They were out of a few things tho. But didn't affect us at all! Good ole classic music on too. Love the Pinball games and foto booth too. Your bartender chased me and my friends out of the bar when we walked in. We didn't know exactly when it closed so when we walked in we were met with screams from your bartender bre. She then followed us outside while insulting me and my friends and then stood in front of another bar and said I was not allowed inside a "sister bar" and then proceeded to push me. Her behavior was absolutely disgusting and made me feel very uncomfortable. She needs to learn boundaries and not put her hands on people. read more

I am smitten by pizza and beer. Let's just say I love happy hour and they have a good selection of pizza toppings. $10 for a large one topping pizza. $2pints on Tuesdays. Lots of specials. My partner and I checked out this place after getting tattoos at a shop nearby. We were both hungry and we got excited about the thought of pizza. We went inside around 2-3 pm and it wasn't busy. There are multiple games to play, and a machine that gives you change. We went straight to the bar, ordered a beer and a large pizza. We had told each other we were only going to get one slice each but there was a special: $9.99 for a large one topping pizza. Of course we had to get it. We ordered a pepperoni pizza and it was sooo good! The bartender was super friendly and out on reggae music that my partner was super stoked about. We played pinball after eating (we didn't finish the pizza and the pizza was good as leftovers even after 2 days!). To play pinball, it cost 50 cents. Was hoping to love it. Our regular pizza place is closed on Sundays, so we tried this place. The person at the bar where we picked up the order was nice. Place looked interesting. We ordered a house salad, cheese bread, and a large pizza with mushrooms and onions. The pizza crust is good. But the sauce is not. No flavors. Very little mushrooms. The cheese bread has cheese on it but there is no flavor. Balsamic vinaigrette dressing for the salad was good. We will not be going back. read more

We sat down and the only area available was in the bar, and the bartender told us to move because "someone had saved their spot there" nobody ever came back. After squeezing into stools between people, my group and I were hesitantly greeted by the same bartender, asked us what we wanted to drink, but then ignores me before double carding me and making me super uncomfortable by doing a super thorough and rude inspection of my license with the other jerk bartender in front of every one else at the bar top. First of all the two servers with long blond multi-colored dreads and the othet with black and white hair were totally non customer oriented, in fact downright rude. The dreads lady was eating the whole time behind the bar with carrots and dips, licking her fingers and serving people and handling money. This is unprofesdional and unsanitary. The black and white hair was not helpful, rude, and put out. The menu was not user friendly, it is not fun anymore. I felt I was a bother. I wanted to spend time in my 6th ave community bar to give my support but not there. This has got to be the best place for a calzone. Never been disappointed. The one downfall I've had everytime here is there is just ONE person working the bar and table area but the kitchen staff does get your food to you in good timing and its delicious! On the plus side its family friendly during the day and has a handful of games to keep the kiddos entertained. read more

Prices recently went up a little at Medi - a basic, large pizza now starts at $12. The adjustment is appropriate, their prices are great. I just want to add this info for people researching places. Their menu has also continued to expand with a couple pasta selections, including lasagna. Pizza by the slice is available from 11am to 2pm, and again from 9 to close. For only $2.50 a slice, the cheap, the poor and the hungry can afford a bite! I'm glad they're doing what they need to stay in business. read more

I have been to Half Pint Pizza Pub a couple of times. One time I ducked in here with some friends and had a great plate of nachos. Only recently though did I go here and get pizza and I wasn't disappointed in the slightest. Steve and I ordered The Sluggo Combo which had the ingredients of their house sauce, pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, olives, onions and mozzarella. The pizza was wonderful! They have some other good pizzas I'd like to try sometime like the Fugazi, Talking Mushroom and their Taco Pizza. I have a particular attraction to this place because they also have Sluggo beer on tap. Sluggo was a small brewery that was right next door to Half Pint and also had a bike shop with it. I think the guy owned both Sluggo and Half Pint but I'm not 100% sure on that. I loved Sluggo beer and last time I was at Half Pint they had one of their beers on tap, the Endo IPA which is good but I wish that they had more of the brewery's other beers too. The brewery is no longer next door but is relocated in the Tacoma Dome district and kind of merged with a Mediterranean restaurant that was there and now goes by the Sluggo name. I don't know what led up to the closure of the brewery on 6th Ave. but at their new location the only have the Endo IPA on tap too the handful of times I have been there. So if there is any constructive feedback I'd give about Half Pint as far as their products go it's to see more of Sluggo beer. One other thing which caused a bit of frustration with Half Pint is that on two occasions that I tried to go here recently in the afternoon there was a sign on the door stating that the restaurant would not open until around 5. Since this was a note in the door it tells me that this isn't a part of their regular business hours but that is something to be aware of I suppose and your best bet is probably going here after 5 pm for drinks and eats. read more

Currently I have been waiting 20 minutes to get two slices of pizza and a salad. They have two old table arcade games which I think should be free as entertainment. 5 maybe 10 minutes seems like a reasonable amount of time to wait. I was excited for a place that serves pizza by the slice in such a great location. The decor is cool. I think it's neat they have the old Sluggo sign up inside. They have a little stage set up in the front window so I assume they must have some live shows which would be fun. Our food was average. Nothing stood out. It cost $2.50 per slice so I wasn't expecting anything gourmet. My salad came at the same time as my pizza which I didn't care for. I was not impressed with the service. My 4 yr. old son and I went in on a Saturday around 1 o'clock and there were about 5 other tables being served. Our server seemed more interested in chatting with some girl at the bar than waiting on customers. There were dirty tables left unattended and he never checked on us after our food arrived. In fact, I ended up getting up and walking over to get my bill from him so we could leave. The food is very average, so to keep a place like this afloat, service should be a priority. Pros: great prices, good for kids Cons: lousy service I will give this place another shot. I'd love to see it succeed because it's a great addition to the restaurants available on 6th Ave. I'll assume our server was an anomaly & my expections of their food aren't high so if it improves I'd be happy. read more

This was our beginning stop for the evening of bar hopping. We actually weren't necessarily drinking yet, but we WERE hungry. The girls ordered a taco pizza, which was the most bizarre thing to order (is mixing Mexican and Italian even legal??). But can I just say that this pizza was seriously A-MA-ZING. Who knew cold lettuce and fresh tomatoes tossed taco style ontop of some hot melted cheesy, taco-seasoned meat sauce would be so heaveny? Keeping in mind it wad a Friday at 630 when I arrived to order and take out. I admit it would have been better at that time to call in the order...instead I am several others had nothing better to do that hang out in this funky lil' pizza joint! So I orders 5 calzones and 1 small pizza. Two Sluggos, 2 made to order and 1 cream cheese and artichoke calzones in addition to a small cheeseburger pizza (hold the tomatoes). I was told 40 minutes. Seemed reasonable. We (my two nephews and I) sat down with a pitcher of ice water and some word searches /games in the local newspaper. Should keep us plenty busy. 730 came and I asked the waiter how much longer until we would be receiving our order...he left to check. Keeping in mind I paid $70.00 for our dinner and when this young man came back he started off the conversation with, "you ordered this for a 11 pm pick up right?"...my jaw...hit the table. I asked to speak to the waitress who took my order well over and hour ago and she came our with the look of regret on her face. She began apologizing profusely. ..over and over again. Apparently the cook read the ticket wrong...we were sitting at TABLE 11...not picking up at 11 pm. So they "rushed" the order and it would be another 20 minutes or so.... at 830 the waitress came out with a look of distress and asked if I would except a refund of 1/2 the bill. I asked for a gift certificate so the I could come back another time to try some of the beers on tap...gladly they accommodated my request. We also got to speak to the cook who said he was truly sorry. I DID feel like all said and done the establishment was sorry and wanted to make it right. So at 910 pm we walked out of the shop with our "order"...once home we realized we were missing the Artichoke calzone. My head was theibbing, the kids were starving and I had nothing left of brain function to deal with this issue....so instead I reviewed on Yelp. I want to belive this is not the normal. Staff is super friendly. Patrons are bizarre and fantastic. I asked one patron about the food and he just grabbed his head, closed his eyes, made some kind of erotic noise and said, "Oh my God, the calzones are the bomb!". I said, "Sold!!!". The pizza's great, and the tap list is killer. Already, HPPP has some great things going for it. I've been a fan since my 21st birthday, and I've been coming back regularly since. Half Pint is always a go-to for happy hour, an afternoon beer, or a fun trivia night. Whatever your night is looking like, there's always a way to get Half Pint worked in there! The staff is great and the clientele is always a mixed bag of fun folks. Pizza, pints, and good music can't end in a bad combo! I've yet to be the lucky (or unlucky) person to order the beer that blows a keg, but I'm excited for the day when I am because I want to get my hands on that T-shirt! Their happy hour prices are great, but so are their normal prices, especially for 6th Ave! I love seeing that this place keeps up their divey vibe despite the seemingly constant remodeling and business turnover that covers the rest of 6th.
