Mike immigrated here legally from Albania and became a U.S. citizen, and you can taste the pride he puts into every dish--everything is homemade, even the pasta. I had the spicy chicken arrabbiata with Alfredo sauce, and it was absolutely delicious. The homemade garlic knots were mouthwatering, and the salads were fresh and crisp. My friend ordered the shrimp pasta and loved it. I also brought home two pizzas for my family, and they said it was the best pizza they've ever had! The service was excellent, and the restaurant itself is spacious with a great bar area. From now on, Mike's Italian Restaurant will be our go-to spot whenever we're in Baraboo. The Gem has a problem with quality control. All the pizzas that came out looked fantastic, our burgers, not so much. The kicker was the cook came out to get a look at us before the end of the meal.
