Soggy food. Bland. I have to write 85 characters. This is my reminder not to eat here.

Pleasantly surprised…read more Stopped here with my boyfriend. Tuesday 99cent drumsticks, yum! They were nice and juicy inside. Did the dry rub with blue cheese on the side. Delicious. Discovered that this place will be close to two places that I will be working at in the near future so that's exciting! Nice friendly folks.

The place itself looked nice, the parking lot was a decent size, and the food was actually pretty good. The wings had good flavor, my wife really enjoyed the flatbread, and the taco salad was decent too. The two young ladies at the hostess stand were probably the highlight of the visit because they were welcoming and friendly from the start. After we were seated though, the atmosphere felt different. A member of management in a red Surly shirt kept staring at my wife and I in a way that honestly made us uncomfortable. Our server also wasn't very warm or friendly during the visit. When our appetizer came out, the employee asked if we needed anything else while already walking away before we could even answer. Then later the busser walked right past our table with plates sitting there and cleared another table farther away instead. I'm a veteran and not someone who usually gets bothered easily, but the overall feeling we got during our visit just didn't sit right with me. Maybe it wasn't intentional, but it definitely gave us vibes that made us uncomfortable enough that we won't be coming back. Which is unfortunate because the food itself was pretty good.

We went there at noon on a Friday, ample parking available, but as soon as we walk-in, we realized…read morethat there were literally no customers present. The only person eating inside the restaurant was the cashier, which we later came to find out would be our chef & our server also! It was just 2 of us and we wanted to dine-in. Found out that there is a 6% charge to eat in. Plus there is a 4% charge if you use a card vs using cash. Alright, back onto the order, we ordered a couple of entrees and a couple of boba drinks. You pay at counter before you sit down and although the gentleman was very nice, he was really slow. I could not imagine, how they would do, if there were multiple people who were wanting to order. From putting in order to paying, am guessing it took the gent about 10 minutes, not great! The dine-in experience was not great. Floor was sticky, actually very sticky at certain spots. Bathrooms were icky, i just went in to wash hands. Was really hoping and rooting that food would make-up for the experience that we had so far but of course it did not. Both the entrées were really bland. I don't think that it was possible, but somehow they made Chinese food not have a taste. It was as bland as it can get. We doused salt & soya sauce on the food to give it some taste just so we can eat it. Remember the boba drinks that we ordered, we did not get them until almost we got done eating and were ready to ask for to-go boxes. I asked our cashier/server/chef what's taking this long for the drinks and the again very polite & friendly gent told us that he has not made one before so it took him some time to figure things out which explained the yelling & screaming that we were hearing coming from the kitchen :D I do not recall ever having this kind of end to end experience at a restaurant. I wish the restaurant the best, but honestly, i am not sure how long they will be able to survive, if things do not change.

The food lacked flavor and there was hardly any meat in the beef lo mein I ordered (see pic with almost no meat). It doesn't need to be littered with meat but it's comical to say it's beef lo mein and I joked that I can't even call it vegetable lo mein cause there weren't many onions or much else in it either. Service left something to be desired. From the moment you enter the building, you get a sense that customer service is not their forte. Not that they were rude, they were not. But there's nothing there to draw you back in or feel like you've been welcomed into something special. I wasn't greeted when I entered or at any point but told that they would be right back, and went to the kitchen. The packaging of the food needs more forethought and I implore the owners to do better. I ordered Orange chicken and a sweet and sour chicken dinner plate. I can only assume that the battered chicken labeled "orange chicken" was supposed to be for both meals as they did not do anything to indicate or clearly state if the meat was for both meals or if I was supposed to get a separate container for the dinner meal as one would anticipate - it was just a large container of chicken. This could have been resolved if the owners or whoever was working had the customer service skills to communicate this. A simple sentence and conversation to explain their packaging would have been a nice minimum but it seems they don't want to talk to customers. Not only that but they decided to pack the bright red and bright orange sauces in those white take out boxes that are clearly not for liquids. Imagine a quart full of orange, liquid goo going all over because they didn't tell you that they decided to pack a huge container of said liquid in a non-liquid container. The fact that they don't see that as a problem says a lot about how much they know or care about running a restaurant. I don't think I'd ever want to return even if I was desperate. I hope that they can work on their customer service skills and rethink their food packaging.

They had such a big offering of seafood I wasn't expecting including jumbo shrimp the size of my hand. The jumbo shrimp were good too, not mushy and not overcooked. Staff at the check-in counter were pleasant and kept everyone moving through quickly. Not sure why but I was really impressed that our takeout meals came with a packaged utensil set (wooden fork, individually wrapped toothpick and a folded napkin) and it came with a can of Pepsi. That's definitely new but a nice surprise. Parking can be tricky because it's a smaller parking lot but GMB is always a staple Chinese buffet.

I have witness more than once when I go there etiquette are not being enforced on people that eat there. During dinner time I went I saw a young boy around the age of 12+ constantly picking food with his hands. At his age he should know better but I feel like the worker working by the food should have said something. He picked a crawfish, crab claw, cookies, and sushi with his bare hands. This same boy also grabbed a bowl, walked around rubbing, fisting the inside of the bowl and proceeded to put back that same bowl back with the clean bowls. Again the worker just watched him and did nothing. A previous time I went I saw a older lady complaining to the old men that works there about how cold the string beans was. When she got done talking to the old men she picked up a wonton with her hand that had gloves on in front of the old men that works there. He said nothing to her. Tongs are there for a reason to pick up food. Another incident a lady dropped a wonton on the ground. Instead of her just leaving it on the ground she thought she was doing good by picking it up and placing on the counter. Little did she know that 5 seconds later a worker picks up that dirty wonton on the counter and puts it back with all of the other wontons. I get the place does not want to be wasteful. However when food is out of the tray and on the counter it should not get placed back with the clean food. They use a all purpose rags to clean the counter. Nasty stuff gets spread from those rags. Now people are eating contaminated food. All of my experiences in this buffet has to be some kind of health violation. It is just beyond nasty. I will not likely go back to this buffet.
