We haven't been to Pizza Pie Cafe in years and decided to come here for lunch on a Saturday. I noticed there was a check in offer on Yelp for a free medium drink so we planned to use it. When we went to use the Yelp check in offer the employee said they don't take them and another employee also agreed and said they don't take them. Strange. We found a booth in the corner and made our way over to pick out our pizza and pasta. They were completely out of garlic knots and they never did bring out more. We were there about 45 min so that was a little disappointing. They did have their cheese bread and kept that one coming out so I just stuck with that. The cheese bread was really good, especially dunked in ranch! The pasta is fun, you can pick from different types and you can get either a half or full size order each time. Sadly, I feel like the sauce for the pasta was watery and didnt really stick to the pasta. It also lacked flavor and tasted almost like nothing. I tried the meat marinara and the carbonara sauce and both didn't really taste like much. The best pizza they had was the Hillbilly, which is basically a meat lovers pizza. It was hot and fresh with lots of toppings. They had a mac and cheese pizza and this one was just okay. All the other ones I tried really didn't taste like much and the bread to topping ratios were off. The dessert pizzas were just okay. These also had a lot of bread and not a lot of toppings. The cinnamon sticks were dry and not a lot of toppings, the oreo pizza was all bread with oreo crumbles all over but tasted really dry, but I will say the cookie dough pizza was the best of all the dessert pizzas. It was hot and fresh and had lots of toppings. We didn't try the salad bar but it looked like there were lots of options to choose from and it seemed like a lot of people were picking things from there. I feel like the prices are very reasonable for a buffet, it was about $10.50 for adults. They do have lots of options to pick from for their pizzas, pasta & sauce, and dessert options but as far as the flavor goes I just wasn't a huge fan. It's pretty bland overall. read more

I really miss our PPC in Arizona. I was so surprised and happy to see them here in Utah when I visited the State Fair. So now that I'm visiting again for convention I had to make a trip over for more pizza!! Especially hillbilly pizza and cinnamon. I love the pasta and sauces, and all of the salad topping choices. Boss is a jack a nag who yells at old ladies, women, children, & anything that breathes. Beware of the pizza pie villain. Husband recently died in the line of duty & when I asked for a military discount he gave less than a dollar. Though I'm always grateful for anything, it felt like a slap in the face with how his demeanor was. The other locations offer it on the entire check. The cashier was TERRIFIED to go ask him to help give me a military discount. His hands were SHAKING. Watched him YELL at a sweet little old lady. I went to comfort her. Then when I went to get my breadsticks, he yelled at me for doing it wrong lol. He corrected me when I asked for noodles & said, "Noodles are from China. It's called pasta." He is clearly miserable. But we didn't let it ruin our day. But he seems to try hard to make everyone around him as miserable as he is. read more

Food 2.5/5 This isn't surprising. You don't really come here looking for top quality pizza. You come here for a $12 pizza buffet with a decent variety of options. In general, none of the pizza is bad by any means, but there won't be anything that knocks your socks off. The pasta is pretty basic, tastes like store bought pasta and sauce. Service 1/5 Quite frequently there would be a couple empty pizza's within arms reach and ready to go pizza's behind them. And there never seemed to be any urgency from the kitchen team to swap them around. 1 time, I thought I'd reach back to get a pizza and got yelled at. The guy at the front was also not very friendly. At one point, he came back to get mad at everyone because a lot of people, including myself were apparently grabbing salad plates to use for pizza (we were primarily doing this because of my next point, which is the layout) Layout 0/5 I can't even begin to state how poor the layout is here. There are 3 main "dishes" that one would line up for. Pasta, salad, and pizza. The most popular obviously being the pizza. It's hard to describe how the lines work but I will do my best. Looking towards the kitchen, you have the pizza on the left, a gap to get into the kitchen, then the pasta on your right, then to the right of that the pasta sauces. Because the pizza line is always the longest, they currently have it set up so the pizza line just ends up going right through where the pasta line would be. So when you go to get food, you have no idea who is in line for what and you just end up waiting at the end of the whole thing. This single line for everything idea would be fine, if the pasta sauces were after the actual pasta, not before it. So if you want pasta, you wait in the pizza line, then you have to push your way back through the line to get the sauce of your choice. This was just silly. Then the line is so long that it runs past where the salad bar is, and where the plates are. It's easy to assume that the plates located at what appears to be the start of the pizza line are the plates for the pizza. Do you grab one, and by the time you get through the pasta people you find there are different plates just for the pizza. But you've already got the salad plate, so no reason to put it back and grab another. To be fair, they don't have a lot of real estate to work with, but I'm certain there is a better way to do this. While I give it a low rating, I'd probably still return based on the low price alone. read more

Service consists of a walk up counter and the occasional pick up of plates from your table. My 3 year old daughter was asleep in my arms and slept the whole time but because I took her back they charged me $4.49 stating that it's their policy that if they go back they have to be paid for. Absolutely love Pizza Pie Cafe and miss having locations in Arizona. We visited during the pandemic when we attended the Utah State Fair and thought they handled the health concerns very well. Everyone had to wear a mask and keep their distance except when in your booth eating your pizza, pasta, or salad. We stopped back when we were in town for a fair convention in Salt Lake City and really enjoyed being back. Such great salad with toppings, multiple types of pasta and sauces, and a terrific variety of pizzas and dessert pizzas, too. They have added a cool new feature - trivia which plays out on their flat screen TVs mounted throughout their dining area. It was fun to challenge our minds while we were filling our stomachs with delicious food. Already looking forward to returning to the area for another fair or fair convention. Pizza Pie Cafe is always on our list of places to visit when we're in town. read more

Our 12u water polo team went here after a state tournament. The front lady panicked about where to sit us. The manager was a joke. He was super stressed about our group. He didn't want us to let the kids sit together. He didn't want us to move seats. He gave us a table and we had to stay at our table. Even though we didn't move to new tables it was just the tables they assigned to us. We just moved the kids to one table and the parents were at a couple tables right by them. He came over multiple times to talk to the kids about being loud ( they weren't) but never came up to the parents to say a word. We have been to the Layton one with our 14u team and have been way more rowdy and never had a problem. We would not go back. We will take our team to the Layton one anytime. The waitstaff was good. Our kids love the Pizza Pie Cafe otherwise I would never eat here. The pizza quality is really low. The amount of toppings is slim so you eat more bread than anything. The space from the pizza to heat lamp is sooo small it is hard to get the pizza. They have a sign saying you can request your favorite pizza. We requested the garlic knots since we like those the best and waited 45 minutes for them and they were gone in a few minutes. read more

Pizza Pie Cafe is perfect for families with young kids who may all enjoy different types of pizza, pasta, salad, and desserts. I loved all of the license plates that were hanging up above the buffet area from every state, and heard many children talking about the plates with their families. This restaurant reminds me of Cici's Pizza locations that can be found in other states around the country. Although, Pizza Pie Cafe does have a better atmosphere. I loved the little booth areas. The employees are really friendly and the restaurant is pretty clean, with the exception of some of the booths, which could really use a deep clean in the corners. The pizzas were labeled with their names, but I would have loved to have seen a list of what toppings were on each pizza. Many of the pizzas seemed like they had been sitting under the heating lamps for quite a while and several pizzas did not have much taste at all. There are many different desserts available, including a monthly special dessert pizza. This is not a place I will be frequenting, as I can make a better pizza at home. Welp, this should be the main reason why you'd go here, because their pizzas aren't that great, their salad bar is weak and their pasta selection is only aight. They do have great customer service skills though! I also like their little booth seating, that they have and, their fun decor, but their food is why people are SHOULD come here and, it's no bueno. Their pizzas are too dry, probs because they sit under those warmers for too long and dry out. Their salad selection lacks selection and, their pastas are fun to mix and match, but not that tasty. My kids and their friends earned free pizza buffet coupons at school and wanted to go together soy friend and I took 4 kids together. I was super happy the kids could all be free! None of this one free kid per one paid adult nonsense. So thank you for that!! I'd been to a pizza pie cafe years ago and remembered thinking it was a really great deal bc since I had to get my own gf pizza (nothing in the buffet is gf) I got a whole dinner pizza and a whole dessert pizza for the price of a buffet pass! So, I was shocked and frustrated when I got charged for each crust and each individual topping, bringing my total to $30. I kept telling the employee this was ridiculously expensive and I wouldn't accept it. She finally asked if I wanted to speak to her manager. She came out and reduced the price to $13. Much better!! Thank you!! The crust is super thin so I actually ate the entire dinner pizza and all but 3 slices of the dessert pizza plus a salad no problem . The raspberry pizza reminded me of toaster strudel. Yum. But hey- my friend is vegetarian and two of my son's friends are as well and we noticed there was ONE vegetarian pizza out of like 8 flavors? That's crazy. After reading all of the older bad reviews, I was not expecting much of this location. Now I think we visited this place on a good day at the right time. It was Thursday and when we arrived at 5:15PM the place had a lot of clean empty tables but suddenly 20 minutes later the place was packed. The salad buffet was perfectly filled with greens and toppings. I ate a huge salad and tasted great and fresh. The pizza buffet area have plenty of hot pizza options, around 12 different kinds. The dessert pizza were yummy. The soda machine at the entrance had no ice, but the other machine was fine. They have 4 flavored syrup to add to the sodas. I tried the raspberry one and loved it! The waiter came frequently to clean the dirty plates from the table. The staff were on top of the salad buffet, at all times, cleaning and adding fresh stuff. The same with the pizza buffet, it was always full, fresh and hot. I took one star because the place is to small and difficult for a disabled person to get around the tables. read more

One of most unsanitary places I've eaten. I didn't even feel like taking out my camera to take pictures just cause how disgusted I was. Getting pizza and other side stuff is like the start of the hunger games where everybody races to get the new fresh pizza ad by the time it's your turn you have to wait and even when you wait you might not get the pizza. Even if you do get the pizza, it's thin slices and had little to no sauce. If they were recycling uneaten pizza I wouldn't even be surprised. The breadsticks were alright I guess. The pasta was very dry and even with dressing or Alfredo sauce it still tastes dry and bland. I can cook myself something from dollar tree and have a better experience. The only upsides to this place is getting the chance to leave. I recommend just eating at home to keep it a buck fifty. read more

The best description of this place is quantity over quality, but the variety is admittedly fun - Pizza, pasta, salad bar, and dessert pizzas. They have a surprisingly decent salad bar and the dessert pizzas are quite tasty. However, the savory pizzas drying out under the heat lamps leave much to be desired. I haven't tried the pasta. I thought this would be a good place to eat since me and my partner have never been. Immediately, I noticed how uncleanly the restaurant was. There were many children and adults grabbing the food with their bare hands, despite the clear posted signage that suggested otherwise. I witnessed a teen wipe his nose as he proceeded to touch the all the cheese sticks on the tray. He ultimately decided he only wanted one. Being disgusted, I saw an untouched tray of cheese sticks next to the one that was just contaminated, so I proceeded to serve myself. Immediately I was bombarded with an array of insults by two staff members. I don't often bring up race however, I just so happened to be he only brown person in the buffet area at the time. The reason why I bring my race into the equation is I was the only person that was yelled at by the staff members. Seeing as I already paid, I proceeded to eat. This was my first time trying here with my family. I can say I'm truly disappointed!!! My whole order was wrong. They added tomatoes on my pizza, i got the cookie dough desert and it was burnt!! We thought they may have accidentally did the Oreo one but the crust was even burnt and tasted burnt. My garlic bites were burnt as well. We had called them to tell them and the guy was just beyond rude!!! He asked if we wanted to remake, or refund and I was asking someone what we would like to do and he snapped and said well what did you eat and not eat we only ate one pizza out of our $60 order. They said since you ordered online it goes through door dash and it was their fault. Sorry but doordash didn't make my food, they did.... I will not ever recommend them to anyone or eat here again. I would give 0 stars if I could! my family came here to eat and I can't eat this food because of dietary restrictions and they wouldn't let me sit at the table with my family unless I paid for the buffet I wasn't going to eat. We make time to come to PPC every time we visit Utah. We enjoy it every time. The pizza is fresh with great flavors and salas/pasta bar is good too. Very inexpensive price. I was excited to try this out after having it at a friends house a few months ago. Pizza was ok, nothing great. We had it delivered and I understand that takes longer but pizza just didn't have a ton of flavor. Crust was a tad mushy. Also I ordered the garlic knots which is what stood out to me when we had it at our friends but somehow someone forgot the two sauces I ordered with them so the experience wasn't great. Knots on their own are just too dry. And I paid extra for those two sauces so pizza pie cafe owes me .99 plus tax!! I was not happy about it. Dessert pizza (apple) was just ok too. My family and I love pizza pie cafe but the west jordan location is not worth it. The food isn't that good and the customer service is absolutely horrible. We were told we had to leave because of our car was too loud when we pulled up. We had already paid the $30 it was to get food and we didn't even get to be there for 20 minutes before we got told that the car was too loud while it was on. I love the concept of PPC and I really like that we can finally, once again have an option for 'Dine-in pizza' the food pizza is great, but 3 out of 3 times visiting the WJ (7800 south) location, they had a really difficult time keeping up the buffet line with the number of people in the line. Also the length of the line could have been better managed if the lines were split by those waiting for savory backed up the line for people who only wanted Dessert pizza. Pasta bar is great for everything but the "Alfredo" sauce has a lot to be desired it isn't really even "Alfredo" but more of an over thick traditional American 'white sauce' like the base for homage Mac n cheese minus the cheddar cheese.
