Here is what we noticed: - When we arrived, it was a little hot, so we opted to sit indoors, not realizing that we would be sitting near the open windows by the outdoor smoking section so be aware. - The menu is quite expansive, with lots of homemade pastas and pizzas. There were a lot of other interesting dishes that we wish we could try, but we just didn't need more than a couple. - We ordered a bottle of white wine and the server brought out the wrong one (a red). Luckily, we noticed it before it was opened and he brought out something else since the one we ordered apparently wasn't available. It ended up being really good! - We ordered a dozen snails, and eventually he served us four of them, indicating that they were all out, but that we wouldn't be charged. That was too bad because they were delicious and we wish they had had more. - We ordered the Quattro Fromaggio Pizza and the Tortellini Scampi for both of us to share. They were both excellent! - Service was OK, but our server got less attentive as the place got more crowded. It took forever for us to get our check and pay at the end even though we asked a couple of times. Bottom line: La Gioconda hit the spot for our first night in Geneva. It's not cheap but we didn't expect otherwise.

We ordered a buratta appetizer, I ordered penne with gorgonzola and pancetta, another ordered the linguine with salsa verde (pesto), lardons and tomato. There are only three pasta dishes and there are other pizzas to choose from. A few appies and some desserts. I loved the buratta, pesto and tomatoes, the tomatoes were the best I have eaten all summer. My pasta was not home made as I expected. Three pastas on the menu in a place decorated as a Momma's kitchen, I was expecting home made. The gorgonzola sauce hardly tasted like gorgonzola. Apparently the linguine was much better. I will try the pizza on my next visit. Service was very nice, wine was Italian and delicious!

When you first arrive there is a beautiful lit entrance way that makes you feel like you're part of a fairytale story. Once inside the restaurant, you immediately get a sense of a homely feeling. I came with a group of 6 and we were seated at a rectangular table. Luckily one of our companions spoke and read Italian and helped us translate the menu (which is only offered in Italian). We ordered a variety of appetizers and entrees which were all superb. I tried the Americana pasta dish, octopus salad, antipasto, fish, etc etc. all delicious! I think the best part was the never ending desserts.. The waiters come around with a cart and you choose which dessert you want off the cart. I got the candied pear. Some people got the tiramisu (which was a bit soggy that day). They also serve you fruits. I mean BOWLS of fruits. Whatever is available they just give you the whole bowl and you take as much as you want. We had grapes, lychee, oranges, etc. after you finish that they come and give you BOWLS and JARS of candy. They just dump it right on your table. The waiter was kind enough to give us take away bags so we could save some candy for later. During the whole 3 hour meal, the big Chef himself, Chef Valentino, would come around and greet his guests. He came out about 3x which was cool! He interacts and jokes around with you which made the whole experience excellent. Come with a fun group! I highly recommend this restaurant.
