I am so excited to tell this story. Lorie, Alexis and I are shopping in Geneva. We decided it was time for lunch. The day prior, when shopping, we had walked past a simple little pizza place called la Cantinella. Your mission, if you choose to accept, find the pizza place. Funny. So we looked it up on maps and started our walk. As we got closer I heard the faint sound of Led Zepplin playing. I thought wow. Middle of Geneva, walking on a cobblestone street, hearing possibly one of the greatest rock groups in history. How could this my days experience get any better. I will tell you how. We Found the Pizza. So we got to the restaurant and was greeted quickly by a young man server who asked how many. I told him 3 and he said "one moment please". A table of four got up minutes later and he quickly cleared the table and sat us down. He told us we had to order inside so Lorie went in and ordered for herself and Alexis while I watched the bags. They came back out and the server came to the table and I told him to order me a margarita pizza but with basil. The other 2 were plain sauce and cheese. He also got us 2 glasses of red wine. Within 15 minutes all 3 pies are on the table. Piping hot obviously so we need to let them cool for moment. I wish I could bottle the smell at that point. It was unbelievable. My first bite, I was in pizza heaven. Now I must note that I don't eat a lot of pizza, wish I could, so my experience is one of joy that I'm eating pizza in general. But, the pizza was amazing. I thought I must be in Siena Italy. The crust was crunchy but not to crunchy. The sauce was sweet but not to sweet and the cheese was fantastic. It even had some burn marks on the crust from the wood fired oven. And to boot I'm sitting outside on a little street people watching. Yes folks, this is simply food heaven. I would strongly suggest you go here for pizza. Hell just go here for a glass of wine if your not hungry. The setting is amazing. Last note, 3 pies 2 glasses of wine and an apple juice was like 50 frank. Omg was that cheep. I'm used to lunches are 250 in Geneva. A must go and if I could 6 stars. Bravo La Canatella.

Its my favorite pizza in the region for sure. When I walk in, they know my order. They did there best to communicate with us in English and make sure we felt comfortable and welcome. We settled on pizza for our lunch and it was WELL worth the wait. Made fresh right in front of us and served immediately out of the oven. The only thing that made me wince a bit was how expensive the lunch was. We did not do our research ahead of time and did not anticipate Geneva to be so expensive. This pizza is well worth the price! Please visit next time you are in Geneva. You will not be disappointed! The restaurant has a very casual vibe, with many locals who seem to hang out here. I tried the dinner special, which was the Filet de Boeuf. The beef was tender and flavorful. It was served with a wonderful house sauce, potatoes, and mushrooms. The special included a salad, bread, and choice of dessert. (I chose flan, which was delightful). With a large bottle of sparkling water, the meal totaled about $40 CHF - really a pretty good value for the quality, portions and considering Genève prices. The service was good and in the Swiss / French style of not bugging you while you eat and relax! I will return. I would like to try their octupus next.
