Delicious food, great service,walkable from hotel. Popular with large groups, and lots of laughter.

We were staying at one of the nearby airport, hotels, and La Gioconda was recommended to us. It really hit the spot after a long day of travels. Here is what we noticed: - When we arrived, it was a little hot, so we opted to sit indoors, not realizing that we would be sitting near the open windows by the outdoor smoking section so be aware. - The menu is quite expansive, with lots of homemade pastas and pizzas. There were a lot of other interesting dishes that we wish we could try, but we just didn't need more than a couple. - We ordered a bottle of white wine and the server brought out the wrong one (a red). Luckily, we noticed it before it was opened and he brought out something else since the one we ordered apparently wasn't available. It ended up being really good! - We ordered a dozen snails, and eventually he served us four of them, indicating that they were all out, but that we wouldn't be charged. That was too bad because they were delicious and we wish they had had more. - We ordered the Quattro Fromaggio Pizza and the Tortellini Scampi for both of us to share. They were both excellent! - Service was OK, but our server got less attentive as the place got more crowded. It took forever for us to get our check and pay at the end even though we asked a couple of times. Bottom line: La Gioconda hit the spot for our first night in Geneva. The food here is amazing! Got the snails (escargot), the tortellini with scampi and arugula, and the Biferno Pizza (black truffle cream, arugula, cheese, red sauce). Everything was delicious! Truly one of the best Italian meals I've ever had. It's also very spacious with a lot of indoor and outdoor seating. The ambience is great, almost as if you're in Italy. The service here is alright, some staff are friendlier than others but overall, this place was great. I'd definitely recommend and would come back. read more

Back in Geneva since COVID. Only staying one night and was too tired to head down town and deal with Saturday night crowd. Staying at a brand new hotel near airport. Really nice restaurant at the hotel, but craving great Italian pizza that they have in Geneva. Of course what else do I do but check Yelp. Not the concierge at the hotel or the front desk, but the people that know their places... yelpers. I see this place and notice fellow yelper, Drew O., review. Was sold. Restaurant was PACKED, and I was lucky to get a place. All the food looked good. Haven't had lobster bisque for a while so ordered that and four cheese pizza. Both were amazing. Like I was back in Rome. And it was only few blocks walk from the hotel. What else can you ask for? read more

Amazing friendly service! Fantastic food. A hidden gem by the airport. We had margherita pizza and the caprese pizza - both delicious, but we like the margherita slightly better. We finished with a yummy apple tart with vanilla ice cream. Would also recommend the Minestrone soup. read more

Found this spot near my hotel, walking distance. I was a little skeptical because there was not a review in the last three years. The ambience inside is wonderful. Sort of like feeling like you're in a cave. The service is amazing. The bread that came to the table was moist and fresh. And I ordered the fresh gnocchi with Gorgonzola cheese. I stayed at a hotel nearby and visited La Giaconda twice. The first time I was dining alone and I received good service. The food was great and the ambiance was nice. I recommended it to the folks I was traveling with in a group tour two weeks later. I sat with 3 friends, and several others in our group arrived a bit later. The service at my table was slow, but we finally received the food. The other group left because they sat there for about a half hour, and no one offered water or took their orders. read more

Short walk from the Marriott but not worth the walk and horrible customer service. If the was a way to give zero stars that's what they would have gotten. It appears that some tables were serviced even after being seated well after us. Many couples who came after also left before us. We went here on a Sunday night at 8 PM and it was packed. When we left at 9:30 PM it was still packed. Old school Italian food. Large menu, well executed. Pizza and calzones looked good too. I had tortellini en brodo and veal saltimbocca and both were very good. My wife and I split the spaghetti aglio e olio con pepperoncini and it stole the show. My wife enjoyed her escargot and veal Milanese. The spaghetti was al dente, served hot, and it was just spicy enough. The hot sauce made with olive oil, vinegar, red cherry peppers, and pepperoncini was hot and flavorful. Not a spot for fine dining but great for families or travelers like us. read more

Went here as a group of 6 on a Friday night. It was relatively busy at around 7:40 pm, but we were immediately seated. We ordered quite a few things, but the winners were Pasta and Pizza, which are home made and delicious. Service was excellent and quick. Food is a bit overpriced though. Paying CHF 28 for a pasta is a bit much, although the portion sizes are decent enough. read more

Order the gnocchi. Full stop. We ordered the gnocchi with bacon and onions in a tomato sauce. It was amazing. We ordered a pizza (with Parma ham) which was good. The salads were large and delicious. But the gnocchi! Pillows of softness and flavor. Wow. Friendly staff. Super friendly clientele -- neighboring table sent over some risotto for the Americans to try. Stayed the night at a nearby hotel and had dinner here. Pleasant service and we received our food quickly. Music was playing in the background which was nice. I got the tagliatelle with morel mushrooms: creamy sauce and noodles were fresh! I have been to this restaurant every year for the past three years, every time I am in Geneva for business I take customers and coworkers there. It is the best Italian food you will get outside of Italy. The pasta is fresh, the pizza is amazing and the staff are awesome! Good Italian Food in a Warm Atmosphere There seems to be a scarcity of restaurants around the Geneva Airport and they are often overpriced. We found this one at the suggestion of our hotel and liked it. We'll put this on our "regular" list for future trips to Geneva when we have to stay at the airport. It's owned by an Italian family and staffed by Italians and of course serves - Italian food. The food is very good. The pizzas are made in a wood-fired oven and have tasty crusts with the authentic Neapolitan Italian dough. They also have an "hors d'oeuvres' option which you can have as a meal in itself. It is a buffet of salads, antipasto, cheeses, mushrooms, tomatoes, olives, fried vegetables and many other delectables which I'm told are authentically Italian. Service improved as the dinner went on. It started out a bit abrupt and impatient, which seems to be a hallmark of Swiss hospitality. There was one pizza that was identical to another except it had a different mozzarella - but no way could you get an explanation from the waiter on what the difference was other than his repeating the names which were different. We spoke French and I think that helped in coaxing out a bit more friendliness from the staff, but I could see that an American group next to us was not getting any help from the staff and was having some difficulty making a go of it. But at least the menu is in English as well as French. The atmosphere was very nice and warm. There were table clothes and, eventually after the food served and we asked, forks finally showed up. So it's a nice place to enjoy a meal and is not a fast food feeling that Americans may be used to in some "Pizzerias". The price was reasonable for Switzerland, where everything is more expensive. Euros 50 for two people for a simple but satisfying meal for two, with a beer and glass of wine. Remember, tip is included in the bills so if you leave extra they may think you're a dumb American. And you'll wonder why you did anyway. read more

Pretty good pizza and tiramisu. Not enough waiters so in rush hours service can get quite slow. But besides that taste is awesome! Pizzas are great and pasta looked good as well. Not all of the waiters speak English but they'll understand what you want to order and you should be fine. read more
