This review is based mainly on decor and a great staff. And a promising appetizer. I was in this area briefly over a weekend and learned about this place on the Roadside America app because there is a taxidermied lion (!!) in the dining room. We didn't have time to have a meal, but we had to stop in and admire the Lion-themed interior. But the small wafting from the kitchen made us get garlic knots for the drive home. So the decor is a 10/10...and so are those knots. They were amazing - great dough, amazing amount of garlic and a phenomenal garlic knot all around. We were a far distance away before we ate them and were disappointed we didn't get more. Next time for sure! read more

Well, I've only been driving by Pizza Leone for the past 12 years or so before trying it and I'm sorry that I waited so long. We were in the area for work and the place at the top of the hill that I used to go to closed, however, the handy yelp app suggested Pizza Leone. When I pulled up, I remember having driven by many, many times but it never looked open -- and didn't today, either. But it was! This is a family-owned shop and two brothers and a sister, at least, were working. The young man who took our order was beyond friendly and we loved meeting him and having him take our order and then bring out our order. We got italian subs, an order of fries, and a small pizza. Everything was delicious! I promised I'd be back again but our work concluded so I may not be back for a while but I'll remember to visit when I am. SUCH GOOD PIZZA!! We ordered online and it was ready when it was supposed to be. It was floppy, foldable NY style deliciousness. The staff was friendly, and let us walk through the dining room with our 8 kids to take a look at the real stuffed lion that we heard was there. I had practically given up on finding a pizza that would rival Stavros when they closed in Emmitsburg. I am not sure what they did, but their pizzas were addicting. We had been going to Leone's for a while and happened to frequent them A LOT during quarantine. They also happen to be a mere 3 minute drive from the house so it was super convenient. We mainly got their salads and subs as the pizza good not great. So on a whim, I ended up getting a small cheese one day in November and ever since have reinstitute pizza Friday's (and other days of the week) because I have a new addiction. And it's not just me. All family are unanimous in their agreement that Leone's has done something with their dough, sauce, cheese that have combined to a produce a pie that rivals some of the best pizza I've had. Pizza: 16" sausage pizza. The sausage was rather sparse on some pieces, so it could have used a few pieces of sausage especially because the sausage was thin. The crust was very thin and the cheese was on the low side. As for taste, it was a decent pizza. I would order again if I stop by in the future. Stromboli: Grilled chicken boli. Had the large and found too much dough on the ends. Talking three inches worth. The chicken wasn't the most flavorful but the onions were nicely done. As it was very wet, it was difficult to cut the Stromboli into sections and remove the sections without the center pieces falling apart. As for the taste, it was okay. Nothing to write home about. The dough had more of a bun texture to it on the edges. I would try a different Stromboli. Marinara sauce: The most disappointing of the three. It was too sweet. Lost is the richness and tomato flavor of the sauce as the sweetness overpowered it. Sadly, the flavor was closer to Prego or Ragu. It was a bit watery, too. You don't want a overly sweet sauce unless you're using it as a dessert marinara. I would avoid the pasta because of this sauce. You can make better at home. Would I order from here again if I pass by? If I didn't want to drive into Gettsyburg then I would buy from her. If I am local and just want a pie then I'd order it as the pizza was the best of the three. The marinara sauce kills it. Order the pizza but leave the marinara sauce. read more

First and last time thieves. I walked in and purchased a sub yesterday to go, normal wait time. I paid with my debit card but I didn't leave a tip, just signed the slip and left with my sub shortly after. Today I looked at my bank statement to find that someone gave themselves a tip on my behalf. It's only a few dollars but that's a very unethical poor business practice. I ordered at the counter and the $9.99 sub became a $14 sub. She told me the menus are from 6 years ago and the prices went up. The sicilians sub had boiled ham , salami and they forgot the capicola. The roll was excellant as was the balsamic vinegar and oil. There was 3/4 inch of pepper relish which was way too much and ruined 1/4 of the roll I had to toss. read more

Just stopped in on our way home from vacation. Found this place on yelp and it was only a few miles off of our route. We only ordered a merge cheese, but in my opinion that's the best type of pizza to judge. Really good crust it was just out of the oven when we picked it up. Good sauce to cheese ratio. Would give less than1 star for review. We picked up our dinner to try somewhere new since we live local. When we got home and opened our pizza & garlic bread we found it was burnt on the bottom and edges and tasted burnt. This slice in the photo even came with a bonus hair baked in. My wife called to complain and was simply told that it's the Italian way to make a pizza. No one offered to fix it and did not seem to care we were not happy. Why would they? They got our $22. First time at Pizza Leone 8/13/17. Went for dinner and we were very impressed! We chose a table in the larger dining area as you enter from the front. Even though this seemed remote from the booth/kitchen/pick-up area, we were greeted quickly by our server. I'm sorry I didn't get her name. She was very pleasant and quick to answer our questions. My wife and I each ordered the "Leonardo's Trio". It included lasagna with tomato sauce, fettuccine Alfredo, AND farfalle (bow-tie pasta) with pesto. The dinner ALSO INCLUDED a salad AND garlic bread. The salad and garlic bread alone could have been a meal! The garlic bread was very crisp and buttery. Our friends Bob and Judi have dined here many times. Bob had the spaghetti with garlic and olive oil, and Judi chose the fettuccine Alfredo. Portions were more than ample and we all had to request take-home boxes. Bob also recommends the linguini with white clam sauce. We had an early dinner, it was not crowded and my wife was able to observe another couple being served. They had ordered cheese steaks and fries and the portions were huge. We used Pizza Leone to serve a large number of pizza's to staff on an incredibly busy day. The order was complex with different pies needing picked up at different times so we could get them to staff hot and fresh. The experience was amazing. Everyone was so nice and accommodating but so organized and prepared to handle this challenge. What a huge hit with our employees! They LOVED the pizza. One even danced. Everything I've gotten here is fabulous--pizzas, salads, and subs. If you're a pizza connoisseur, you have to go to Pizza Leone. The family is Sicilian & imports their flour, and the pizza crust is absolutely the best I've ever had. We took the family snow tubing at Liberty and were happy to find this place on Yelp. Both kids ordered their personal kid sized pizzas which were rather large and my husband and I split a small veggie stromboli (which was HUGE). The stromboli was delicious and our picky eaters approved. I've never seen my 7 year old destroy a pizza so fast. They were super amused by the lion decor and we had a very pleasant family meal. After driving by for a year, we finally stopped in. On a Saturday night at 6pm there was one other table occupied besides us. Couple that with menus that had all of the prices scratched out with new prices handwritten in ($1-$3 increases across the board) gave me the impression that place is struggling, unless they do a booming lunch business from Raven Rock across the road. No alcohol license, but BYOB is allowed (that does one no good for their first visit until they learn. about it...) Pizza was okay, albeit a bit soggy; we both thought that the sauce was overly sweet, but that's something subjective from two garlic lovers. We probably won't hurry to go back. read more

We just moved to the area at the end of July, and this place is very close to our new home. We decided to try it last Wednesday night. It was 8 pm when we got there, and no one else was in the place. We noticed right away there was a musty smell, and for us it would be deal breaker, but since the food had such good reviews, we decided to stay. Our server explained to us that there had been a leak in the A/C and that may be the cause of the smell. My husband ordered a personal size pizza with mushrooms, olives, and sausage, which he really enjoyed, though the calamati olives are too salty. My daughter ordered a calzone, which was stuffed with mozarella cheese, ricotta cheese and ham. It was accompanied by marinara sauce and it was huge. She really enjoyed it but wound up taking most of it home, because she had not been that hungry. I ordered the chicken vegetable soup, which was just what the doctor ordered. It was homemade chicken corn soup with some carrots on onion. I shared some with my husband, and we both agreed that it was excellent. I ordered the five meatballs with cheese, and they were just okay - nothing special. We decided that we would order carryout in the future or come on a nice mild weather day and try eating outside at one of the tables. We will be back for more! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the musty smell. I hope they resolve that issue. read more
