9/28 I walked into this establishment to order pizza. Another couple walked in behind me. We all stood at the counter to place a order. The dining area was closed so I knew the order would be a carry out. There was a young lady standing by a table talking on the phone. A young man standing around on the phone and a older lady sitting in an office. They all looked up and saw that they had customers. No one tried to assist the customers. We all stood there for about twelve minutes looking at them wondering if they would try to do their jobs. I finally left and as I was starting my car I noticed the other customers left as well. I think Mia hit the nail on the head with her review. This place never really has good service and very mediocre food. But if you're a local you keep coming back cause you get that hankering for half baked bread sticks and edge to edge pizza goodness. Yeah that does seem odd "half baked bread sticks" but trust me once you try them you'll never go back to full baked bread sticks! Probably because they kinda get overdone for the full length of time they actually bake them but oh well. If you're a local you already know what i'm talking about. But if you're passing through there are a plethora of pizza joints ( 8 when I last counted ) and two of them are Pizza Kings. This one doesn't serve alcohol and is smoke free unlike the East Side PK. I ordered a big sir and 1/2 baked breadsticks. What I got was a disaster of SLOP that they said was "pre made." Pizza sauce, ham, and cheese thrown on a bun. The breadsticks as you can see are CLEARLY overcooked. They were dry and tough as leather! I ate them since I had to wait an hour for screwed up food, however I wouldn't touch the sandwich if I were starving! To blatantly state over the phone that they're "pre made" is also worrisome, not to mention they wanted the sandwiches back...this worries me that they're reusing them for other unfortunate consumers. I will NEVER in a million years use this pizza king again. Somehow Muncie and New Castle can make a big sir and proper breadsticks but this place is incapable. Now I get to wait another hour for them to in screw up what they already ruined! read more

In every small town, there seems to be at least one long-standing restaurant that gets a pass despite its spotty service and mediocre food. For Connersville, Indiana, Pizza King is that place. I think that's part of the reason it's taken me so long to review it... how do you go about objectively reviewing an institution? This particular location is generally considered to be the "classier" of the two in town. What that boils down to is that it's more brightly lit, there's no smoking (whereas the Eastside has deemed their entire establishment to be smoker-friendly) and no alcohol served. This also means it can get packed with a crowd of hyperactive youth groupers and several families with frazzled or oblivious parents and their screaming offspring that enjoy rolling around on the floor and playing "Party in the USA" on the jukebox. I have generally found the service to be the same at both places... decent but nothing outstanding. I live too far away for delivery, but it's pretty hit or miss from both spots, with the Western Ave location edging the other one out slightly. The food is also more or less the same at both places. Don't listen to the die-hards that claim loyalty to one location or the other. Wherever you go, your pizza will likely have too much or too little sauce on it. The cheese and toppings will usually be unevenly distributed. Your burritos will look like they were wadded rather than rolled, with more of the filling on the outside. The "salsa" will taste like mildly seasoned ketchup. Pizza King's attention to quality control leaves much to be desired. Yet none of us locals can stay away. We get a craving for a turkey club sub, deluxe, with a dollar coke and an order of breadsticks (greasy, dill-y, overcooked breadsticks) and we have no choice but to Ring the King. read more

Wow..just wow. I have never had bad service in this place, but today was the day. I got a chicken bacon ranch pizza and when my girlfriend got it home I realized that it had tomato's on it and she is ALLERGIC to them so I called and said that it was their fault(which it wasn't) and that was wanting one without, so they said yes after a long wait on the phone. We went there and got one made and it was already In the oven and that they said " we will do it this time only" so basically they said that we have to deal with it....ummm no they can pay the medical bill for my girlfriend and then we shall see how they react. But hey when We got it home it was a little too crunchy and the pizza was way to salty so that might be the last time we go there read more

I love Pizza King pizza, but this location isn't my favorite. It's the closest to where my inlaws live, but the service was lacking and I found the locals that hang out here to be rather rude as well. read more

I've had a hit-or-miss experience through the years with this Pizza King (colloquially Pizza King North). Tonight's experience left a lot to be desired. We had ordered for delivery a medium pizza ("with all the meats"), a burrito, and an order of breadsticks. That was where the problem started. The order was input and our payment card was ran prior to the person taking our order reviewing our order back to us, which was when we realized they applied "medium" to their 10" pizza -- as it turns out, they have two "medium" pizzas (10" and 12", of the four regular sizes they offer) and they didn't confirm whether we wanted the larger size or not. We did, but our card was already ran, and we didn't want to mess with waiting for a refund, so we accepted the order. This was ultimately the restaurant's loss as the 12" pizza was $2.50 more for them. We were told after the confusion of the order by, presumably, a manager who had taken over the call that our order would out ASAP and that a receipt would assuredly be included to ensure nothing was charged that shouldn't have been. After nearly an hour, our food arrived. The good: Our delivery driver was courteous. The breadsticks were great as always and included both sauces we requested (dill sauce and a cheese sauce). Tip: Always ask for "half-baked" breadsticks for delicious, soft breadsticks. The bad: Our burrito -- which was in a sealed, aluminum tray, mind you -- was lukewarm. Our pizza -- which was supposed to be "all the meats" -- also included mushrooms and onions. Also included with our order was a greasy, used menu, which was presumably included because of the confusion over what their "medium" pizzas are -- their menu doesn't use the word "medium" for pizzas, so any order placed with "small, medium, large" descriptors really should be clarified by the order taker. The driver also showed up unprepared to take my signature for the payment card we used (no pen), but was patient while waiting for one to be found. Plenty of people I know swear by Pizza King, but just because it is locally owned, it shouldn't be given a pass for its failures. For the same price, we could have eaten a feast at any of the local fast food joints and gotten food that was a consistent quality with what we've come to expect. Also (and unrelated to tonight's order), on the back of the Pizza King North building is a sign that says "employee parking only," with a warning that others will be towed. At least they are advertising on their building that their customers don't come first. read more
