Very disappointed. When I questioned as to whether or not my order included "extra mushrooms " on the "all beef " pizza, it took a server, cashier,and a cook to locate and confirm there were any mushrooms and more than one type of beef. TLDR/ Not a place I would go again. If someone wanted to go there, I would probably question why and reevaluate my friendship with them. Food: 2/5 Pizza and spaghetti were both meh. The pizza was "warm" not hot and if we are judging overall quality was sub-par. The crust was too thin and crispy while the sauce to cheese to meat ratio was way off. The sauce also was not flavorful and all the ingredients felt low quality. It was like eating lightly sauced cardboard masquerading as pizza. The spaghetti was also "warm" not hot and it is clear they use the same sauce for the spaghetti as for the pizza, not good. Sad because if it had salt and a few spices it might have been good as the spaghetti wasn't over cooked as I have found at many places. Service: 3/5 The entire staff could not have had anyone over 20 and though they had pep, they also gave sus vibes when we came to dine in an hour out from closing. Not giving demure or casual hospitality at all. After trying my best to goad them into a more generous ambiance they warmed up a bit but still, a very mid experience overall. A friend of my husband's said give this place a try, so we did. A small menu with different sizes of pizza, different topping. Sandwiches and spaghetti, breadsticks, drinks. We ordered the all meat and added pineapple. When it arrived, it was hot, fresh and tasty. We watched them make it and cook it! This is some of the best pizza I have had in awhile. We were pleasantly surprised on our 1st visit while meeting family in Derby. It has been around for 50 years and with that history you have to expect goodness. We had the lunch special. My wife and I shared the Sarah Salad and a small Supreme pizza. It was filling and my mother got the same and took over half of hers home. Clearly a local favorite spot. The staff Clearly earns there money as they are hustling to keep everything moving. Either come before 11:15 or after 12:30 for lunch or be prepared to wait 10 min for a table. The pizza and pepperoni bread were great as always. I can't say the same for the service. The servers acted like we were a nuisance. The pizza came out before the pepperoni bread. Which we had to remind the server about. Then we had to ask for forks. We were shorted a fork when they were finally brought to the table. We had to go up and ask for refills. Then my daughter was handed the check when she went up to get her refill. Poor, poor service. I will be calling a manager next week. read more

I had tried Pizza John's several years ago, realizing it was a local favorite venue. At that time I discovered this restaurant was thin crust only. This isn't my favorite style but I was there with friends and decided to make the best of it. To be fair, their pizzas were nicely topped, with reasonable variety and properly cooked. Drink selections were adequate but as a diabetic I would have appreciated more sugar-free selections (like maybe in cans or something). .This restaurant definitely caters to families (especially kids) and what parents don't appreciate a venue that makes the family happy and gives parents an affordable break now and then. Kudos to the servers who were obviously swamped with a packed house but seemed determined to get Pizza to the table hot and fresh and drinks refilled. They really hustled! Also, recognition to the kitchen staff that knew how to ramp up production and keep pizzas coming. I understand why this place is busy - they have carved-out a niche in their market and keep their customers happy. read more

I've loved visiting Pizza John's over the years. The menu has pretty much stayed the same and the pizza has remained delicious. There isn't a ton of seating in the restaurant, but pizza to go is always available. The sauce is a bit seething and there is some kind of seasoning that makes the pizza perfect. We've lived in Wichita for 43 years and this was our very first visit to Pizza John's! Originally from the NJ/NY area, we are very picky about our pies! Came on a Friday night, anticipating a long wait, but was seated immediately. A typical pizza looking joint for Derby area, the waitress addressed us immediately. She was friendly and knowledgeable. We ordered a Supreme but changed up a couple of the toppings with no issues at all. A small but refreshing change as most places have a problem with swapping toppings. Our pizza took barely 6-7 minutes tops (and the place was packed!) We throughly enjoyed the super thin crust, the toppings were plenty and did not seem to disappear, as in some establishments. We asked for a box and the waitress offered some To Go drinks! Very pleasant, indeed. We'll definitely be making the trek from NW Wichita back to Derby very soon. read more

Traveled back to Derby from DC over the weekend and couldn't wait to have Pizza John's again since it had been many years. Unfortunately my family and I were extremely disappointed with the staff. The young lady waiting on us seemed to have no time to take our order, was very short and rude, and barely returned after giving us our food. When paying a different young lady took our money and was equally as rude and short and was busy speaking to another young lady about her break. One thing that always impressed me and others in the community years ago was how nice the young people were that worked at Pizza John's. Definitely something they were known for. We first visit to Pizza John's and we'll be back. This quaint place just off K15 in Derby has great food at reasonable prices, and a helpful, friendly staff. We started off with the Sara salad with a wonderful marinated olive mixture, cherry tomatoes, ham, green peppers, onion, and cheese on crisp lettuce, along with fresh-made refillable ice tea. The supreme pizza was perfectly cooked on thin crust, with just the right amount of everything. The only thing that could use improvement was there gluten-free pizza option...no crust, which really wasn't a pizza. They should really consider a cauliflower crust or alternative flour crust...my husband was disappointed. read more

When dining in forever waiting on things from server which is annoying but is what it is, since covid, ordered pizza at 645 was told would be ready in hour and half, specifically asked what time to be there for pick up & employee reply was "an hour and half". Showed up at 815, called for my pizza & was told they threw it away bc it had been "too long" and they thought i wasn't coming... uhm what? I came at exactly the amount of time they told me too, they didn't call me or anything just threw it away?!? Told me they refunded me my money, i don't want a refund i want my pizza & refused to make it bc they were "closed" now.
