I've had friends rave about this restaurant for years so I finally tried it out. I wish I had a more positive experience. Portions were very small. We only got two very small pieces of bread and when we asked for more we were told it would be $4 additional. My wife got a vegetarian bow tie pasta but there were very few vegetables - it was virtually all pasta and lacked flavor. The sausage ravioli was decent but I left hungry. The bright spots were the ambience and the server - nice dining room and a rooftop patio. The server was very sweet. read more

Do not come. It's not worth the price at all. Our server did not know how to answer any of the questions we asked, she served us the wrong drinks and never checked in with us. She took our menus away before we ordered so we couldn't see what we wanted and she gave us the check without even asking if we wanted anything else. They wouldn't serve us bread until after we ordered. The portions were tiny and the carbonara we ordered had pretty much scrambled egg on top. Disappointed. We arrived and no one was at the hostess counter so we stood there waiting. We saw a couple of ladies setting at a table drinking wine and we looked around the divider and saw people seated in the restaurant. We continued to wait for at least 5 minutes and no one ever came to the hostess desk. The cook saw us and came around from the kitchen to ask if we wanted to be seated and one of the ladies drinking wine said " I'll seat them ". This was after we had been waiting in full view of them for all this time. Don't know how much longer we would have had to wait if the cook hadn't seen us. read more

Ok...where do I begin... I'm from a very rural town in California and absolutely love Italian cuisine but nothing in California will ever compare! It's wild to think of Kansas let me rephrase that a tiny town like Mulvane having such absolutely iconic real rustic Italian dishes! The restaurant is super clean and stays to the iconic Italian ways! I will say that the hours are odd and I do recommended making reservations especially as these place is so popular! Now the service is sub par and the wait staff is not very helpful really kind and nice service but not the sharpest tools in the toolbox so to speak- Well worth the visit though! read more

I have never understood the appeal of coffee shops. Coffee is coffee, right? I don't care for those frou-frou coffees loaded with sugar and spices. I just want it plain. Luciano's cappuccino? WOW! Best cup of coffee I've ever had. I woke up and wanted another one this morning. I started looking at cappuccino machines on line and watching You-Tube videos, but somehow I'm sure I'll still have to go back to Luciano's to get that perfect cup. I guess I'm going to have to make that cup of cappuccino a "reward" and plan on sitting on their beautiful patio, sipping coffee and munching on home-made cannolis. They also make their own bread which is really good. He makes a great steak, too. read more

I had never been to Mulvane, Kansas before. Heck, I had never HEARD of Mulvane, Kansas until a friend of ours invited my wife and I to dinner at Luciano's. We've heard of it now. Nestled on a quiet street just off main and next to an old railway station, Luciano's offers a wonderful atmosphere to dine it. Walking in, one is overwhelmed with old Italian charm. We were meeting an old friend who was in town for business and he wanted to dine here. We understand why - the food was simply stellar and the staff was more than accomodating! We chose their bruschetta for an appetizer and it was amazing - savory and fresh, but not over-powering like other restaurants make it. For dinner, I opted for (after my friend highly recommended it) the Tagliata. A wonderful cut of KC Strip steak sliced and topped with parmesan cheese, olive oil, and finished off with asparagus on the side. It was incredible! My wife went with the Filetto al Pepe Verde, a beef filet cooked in brandy, green peppercorns, and a mushroom reduction sauce. Yes, we certainly tried each other's dishes as they were too good not to! One more thing: the bread was some of the freshest I've ever eaten! If you are anywhere CLOSE to the Wichita area, a drive south to Mulvane is certainly worth it if your destination is Luciano's. read more

This was awful. I don't know why I keep returning . My son wanted to come here for a birthday dinner so we did. I think it's a pretty sad commentary that I had to put salt on a pasta Carbonara dish. The dish was watered down pasta and boiled prosciutto (and very little at that), and the sauce was nothing close to being a smooth egg Carbonara sauce. My son had the Quattro Formaggi and he said it was watery as well. I have been coming here for 8 years and the quality of the food has deteriorated over the last 3. Yet I kept returning because I love small towns. Unfortunately I will never return here. read more

We sat outside on the lower patio because it was pet friendly and we had our lab with us. The server brought him a water bowl - which was much appreciated by our pup! The food was delicious. My wife and I shared a large cranberry salad in the parmesan bread bowl (pictured), I had the KC strip steak, and my wife had the pasta formaggio. All was well prepared and delicious. This place is a gem. My husband and I went for a date night, great wine choices all Italian, great fresh pasta, a fun 5 course of the day with wine pairings. I've been to Italy- the only thing this place lacked was those fresh Italian tomatoes. Otherwise I was transported. If you can go on a day where the weather is nice; it sits on a quant lawn. This was a scrumptious meal. We both had two different steak dishes. Mine was the Tagliata ...cooked to perfection! And my husband had Filetto al Pepe Verde which he enjoyed! They were also able to provide a gluten-free pasta dish, but you have to ask for it since it's not on the menu. Both steaks were $26-$28. If you want a tasty treat... I went with my family of six, 2 adults and 4 kids to celebrate my 16 yr olds birthday. The food was good but my problem was the automatic 20% tip added to our bill which I felt the server did not deserve. My youngest did not order anything so it was just order for five. Our food was drop off at our table and that was the last we've seen of our waiter throughout our entire meal until it was time for her to drop off our check. Even then we had to sit and waited and waited for her to pick up our payment, she just walked by us like we were not even there. I sent the owners a private message through there Facebook messenger days later I still have not heard back from them, Apparently they must not value me and my families business. Just went here for our anniversary and the food was delicious! The wait time on the food was less than 10-15 minute, and the handmade food made it such an authentic experience. I would've taken a picture, but we legitimately inhaled the food because it was so good. It's no secret that Luciano's has some of the best Italian food in Wichita, so I took Rock Road as far south as it would go to try it out for myself. Real Italian food is something that many people haven't experienced - choosing chains that overload customers on garlic breads, overcooked pastas, and heavy, heavy cream sauces; I can't escape an Olive Garden without feeling bad about myself. No, real Italian food is about a handful of pure, fresh ingredients that come together to make something special. It starts with pasta, of course. I've always been under the impression that if Mexican restaurants can be expected to make their own tortillas (and they should, or at least procure them locally), Italian restaurants can make their own pasta. Luciano's does this, and their fettuccine consisted of the base for my lunch whose name I cannot remember, as I don't speak Italian. It consisted of the pasta, along with diced tomato, shaved carrots, chopped green onion, small pieces of a nice fennel sausage, all sauteed in butter and Parmesan. THIS is an alfredo sauce. There wasn't much of a lunch crowd, but I could see how reservations may be warranted in the small restaurant for dinner. As I ate, I watched as Luciano tended to a big pot of sauce for lasagna later in the evening. This is obviously a man who enjoys what he does and we enjoy eating it. read more

Migliore alimento italiano in Kansas! This is the real deal! The first time I went we braved the tornado sirens and let me tell you...no tornado was going to tear me away from the table! Everything was phenomenal, the setting is adorable, and Luciano and his family came out to check in on all the tables. It is a short drive and I highly recommend you go.
