Every cheesesteak should look and taste like this!

Even though it's called "pizza jawn" don't sleep on their cheesesteaks! The pizza here is incredible though - we normally do the grandma w/pep. You gotta top it with Mikes hot honey!

Sooooo admittedly, I've never had a Philly slice before in my life. Pizza Jawn was perfectly located on the main drag so it seemed like the best option. It's a take out spot unlike any I've been to. It had a vibe. Two sofas. Just chill. Super clean. White walls were still shiny white. A little cluttery but what pizza place isn't? The counter person was OK. The slice was DIFFERENT. The sauce was thick, the cheese was scarce, but the crust was sooooo good!! A little thicker than I'm used to but damn, it was good. Greasy, chewy, and so yummy. I secretly wanted to throw some powdered sugar on the crust to make it a zeppole. The slice was huge. Enough for two and I'm a big girl. Not bad for $5.

We were super hyped to try this pizza! We ordered ahead of time for a 1:30pm pick up so we could have it for lunch. The pizza was done in time for pick up. We didn't realize they have no seating inside (they do have a couch but when we asked they said we couldn't sit there...so what is the couch there for then?). So we sat outside in the cold on the wooden benches that were wobbly. The daughter was nice and brought out some plates and napkins for us. First impression of the pizza. The crust was very burnt. We had to break some of it off so we can try it. Sauce was good but a bit salty. We got extra cheese and pepperoni. Again it was good but idk with the hype/price tag on the pizza. Parking is also horrendous in the area too (first time in the area but I guess that's just how it is in manayunk). Overall not impressed. My husband enjoyed the pizza though. Wish it wasn't so burnt! They also have no drinks other than water (just FYI).

Pizza Jawn lives up to the hype. The grandma pizza is perfect with crispy, structured square crust, well balanced sauce, and high quality cheese. Order was easy to place and ready on time. It's our go-to takeout pizza. A must try when in the Manayunk area.

Drove from Staten Island to come here because of some Instagram influencer's post. Absolutely worth the hype. The customer service was extremely welcoming. The process for ordering the pizza a few days in advance was very easy. Grandma slice was definitely unique and special for Philadelphia, and the sesame seed crust was a nice touch. Don't sleep on the plain pie either, it was delicious. I'd love to come back and try another pie.

Get the grandma pie !!!! I had no idea what a grandma pie was prior to Pizza Jawn, but now that I know it exists- it's all I want. The pizza has sesame seeds on the bottom of the crust and it adds a deep savory note to the pie. It also adds great texture! I really enjoyed this pizza! I love the philly pride in its name too.

I have been wanting to try Pizza Jawn for almost 3 years now when I first discovered them on Instagram as a pop up. I moved away so I never got the chance to get back to try them. I finally decided to make a pre-order for a Detroit Style plain pie. I ordered for a 3 pm pick up time for a Saturday. Saturdays are busy in Manayunk, so I arrived early to ensure that I was able to find parking. I ended up parking a little way away and just walk it since it was beautiful outside. The order was ready for pick up right at 3 pm and when I walked in they helped me right away. They are VERY nice! I wouldn't really call it expensive or steep on the price because back in Florida places such as this that were local were the same pricing, so to me this is average. They don't seem to have seating inside, but I was planning on taking it home anyway. The Detroit is perfect for 2 people or over 2 days depending on hunger. The dough is very thick and crispy cheese crust like a traditional Detroit. It was absolutely DELICIOUS! I am looking forward to trying their grandma pie next with my fiance. My ONLY dislike of the pizza is that they put grated parmesan cheese on top. I know many people like this, but I never have really caught on grated parm on my pizzas. Overall, I will be a returning customer!

For the people wondering whether this place is worth the hassle of ordering, picking up (Main Street Manayunk parking fun!), cash-or-Venmo only payment....the answer is yes, most definitely worth it. Or in the words of the NMA, a Teen Pizza Expert (as pizza is one of the four food groups of the teenage male). "This pizza is really, really good, Mom." We ordered a "Grandma" pizza, which is made on thick, hearty structured bread dusted with sesame seeds. Got three meats - pepperoni, beef and bacon. What I picked up seriously weighed at least 3 pounds, if not more. I parked around the corner in the Venice Island public lot, it was a nice day and walking a bit was refreshing. They had my pizza ready, I gave them my name, showed my order receipt on phone, handed over the cash and walked out in like 5 minutes. Note: they were offering walk up pizza by the slice when I was there. Not sure if that's a regular thing. Brought this divine smelling huge pizza home. The NMA took two slices, more or less inhaled them, then told me he was "totally full". This, the child who weighs like 145 pounds and can eat an entire pizza in one sitting. Yeah, the toppings are very generous and the crust...oh my, it was delicious. Held up beautifully under the weight and the grease. I opted for one slice - which was a complete meal, and I used a fork and knife to eat it with. I like that there was a slightly spicy kick to the taste, not enough to be uncomfortable but not a sweet pasty flavor. Also, not overly cheesy, NMA and I questioned at first whether there was cheese on it - there is, at the bottom. I liked that it wasn't super cheesy. The remaining slices went into the fridge and you bet they re-heat well. The NMA and I are slowly chipping away - him two slices at a time, me one. Totally worth it, and we'll definitely go again. Highly recommend.

COVID Time Review. You've probably read enough about the ordering system to have an opinion on it. Yes, you typically have to order a week in advance. Yes, they fill up quickly. Hey, if you don't think you'll be hungry in a week then you aren't worried that the fill up. Besides, if they didn't fill up quickly, that is probably a sign you might not want to order from them. Ordering system aside, they make some good pizza. Not the best I've ever had and not the best I've ever had in the city. Probably the best I've had in Manayunk. There Grandma style is a heavy crust and is covered with sesame seeds. Its also a square(ish) cut. If you don't like sesame seeds, you should past. While it comes in at their priciest pizza, it does fill you. This is the pizza to get for a big meal or party. I do wish the side pieces ended up with more sauce as they come off a bit dry (while the middle pieces are usually totally covered in sauce). Their round looks, feels, and tastes like your standard pizza. We enjoyed it margherita style and felt the cheese and sauce balance was on point. The crust is a bit thinner, but it is not a thin crust pizza by far. The only thing I can comment on the service at this point is that they will have your order ready on time. They seem like a nice staff and I am excited to order in one day in the future.

tl;dr don't let the cut-throat ordering system and trek from Center City deter you from these quality pies; Pizza Jawn is a pizza lover's dream With so many fabulous pizzerias in Philadelphia propper, it feels ludicrous that a Manayunk joint would even crack the top 10. Nevertheless, Pizza Jawn is making waves in a bid for the Philly pizza throne. Pizza Jawn's ordering system is a Hunger Games-esque dash to jot down your name and contact info. Right when the spreadsheet drops on the website (a week in advance), be prepared to quickly find your ideal pie and timeslot. Within a few minutes, you should receive an email confirmation for your signup, and no need to pay until your pickup the next week. I opted for a Grandma Pie (a 16"x16" square broken up into 16 slices, with a sesame seed bottom) topped with pepperoni (admittedly the only topping that came to mind as I frantically navigated the ordering system). In contrast to ordering, the pickup was a breeze -- on the chilly Thursday evening one week later, I showed up just before my timeslot and the pie was fresh out of the oven. The crust was light and airy, with the layer of sesame seeds across the bottom generating a surprisingly flavorful taste and texture. The tangy red sauce is strategically dolloped atop the cheese, and the pepperoni very nearly resembled high-quality, crisp bacon. The Grandma pies are enormous. At 16"x16" (broken up into 16 slices), these can reasonably leave a party of 4 feeling content. But don't let the prospect of leftovers dissuade smaller parties -- my partner and I took home just about half a pie, and the leftover slices were marvelous the next day with a quick heat-up in the air fryer. At $28 for our fabulous pie, the Grandma varieties feel like a steal. The only change I would opt for during my visit is a double-order of pepperoni!

Pizza Jawn lived up to the hype. The more traditional style pizza itself was delicious. We also ordered a vegan style pizza for one of our friends. The vegan pizza tasted so good that we all ended up trying it and questioning whether it was actually vegan. However, the grandma style pie might hands down be the best pizza I've had in Philadelphia. While a few other spots might make the cut for that title, I think Pizza Jawn comes out on top. The sesame seed base is thick but easy to bite into and packs so much crunch and texture. The only caveat is that their pizzas are quite pricey. However, I think it's worth treating yourself to because the ingredients are high quality and they aren't shy with the portions. I cannot wait to order from here again in the future to try out more flavors.
