This cafeteria-style buffet is located in the mall, has ample parking, and has an inviting and pleasant ambiance. We arrived an hour before opening, not realizing the time difference between Texas and New Mexico so we walked around the little mall until opening time. Hobbs Buffet is a former Furr's that has been purchased by new owners who kept most of the menu items, as well as the buffet format, in place. There are still some signage in place that indicate that this was once a Furr's. However, there is an addition of Vietnamese offerings which sets this place apart from a typical cafeteria. The management and employees were very friendly and certainly went out of the way to make sure my family and I had a good lunch. The food is fresh, the portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable with a senior citizens' discount available. They serve Coca Cola products at Hobbs Cafeteria. I will certainly return the next time I am in the area!

The place gets loud in general so much that it was difficult to have a conversation with the other three members of my lunch group. THE GRUB This is strictly buffet food. Most of it is Asian-inspired, however, there were options like spaghetti and pizza. My favorites were the orange chicken and spicy shrimp with the veggie rice. The spring rolls were good, but the egg rolls tasted strange. Also, there was a wok station and a self-serve ice cream station with 6 different flavors! Grandma loves the Cheese Sticks and Sautéed Mushroom appetizers so that is what we had. Several of us had Chicken Fried Steak, a few had El Rio Pollo, one steak, one salmon, one Salad only and one Crispy Chicken salad. We all loved all the food! I miss this place when it used to be Peking Restaurant way back in the day. That place had some wonderful ambiance that made me want to return. Empire... not so much. It's very generic & boring. The staff members back on 8/25/22 were no nonsense. Not particularly friendly or welcoming. It's basically the only place in town for your Chinese food fix, though. No one at our party complained! Here's what my brothers and I ordered from the catering menu for 4/20/2024: COMPLETE DINNER PLANS - SERVED BUFFET STYLE, MINIMUM 10 PEOPLE. We had approximately 50 people. + "EXECUTIVE" plan - Includes three meats, two sides, bread, pickles, sauce (3 variations: mild, sweet & sour, & spicy) and place settings. + We chose ribs, brisket, turkey, scalloped potatoes, mac n cheese... + this package also came with sliced jalapeños & onions + Additionally we ordered 50 dinner rolls (everyone loved these) + 20 corn cobbettes + 1 ranch broccoli super spud (I mean they are HUGE potatoes LOL) + large plain cheese pizza (separate charge from BCP but same delivery) Our delivery went great by one solo employee. My significant other helped him. Our bill came out to $1,055.14. No deposit was required. They simply asked that I call in on the day of the delivery to provide a card number over the phone. Our guests were pleasantly surprised & some even took home leftovers! Yes, I recommend them & would do it all over again. The most difficult part was ordering with a newbie over the phone. Lol.
