The Hunny has developed a taste for Popeye's over the last month. We had some free time around…read morelunch, so I suggested Popeye's. After all, a man should have some quality time with his wife, take her on a date, keep the romance alive. Who needs fancy, anyway? Popeye's sure ain't fancy. It's a Southern chicken place, a fast-food version of a choke-and-puke in Opelousas LA. Sometimes you get a bomb, and sometimes the food is da bomb (to use the vernacular). Customer service is even more hit-and-miss. In this case, the Vidor Popeye's screams "Lower your expectations": close to the freeway, in a largish shopping center, small space. The food was good, though. The Hunny got a 3-piece chicken meal, and realized too late that two pieces was enough. I had the spicy chicken sandwich meal, and it was a repeat of what I got in Baytown a month ago: tasty spice, moist meat, not many ingredients needed or added. We also got Cajun fries, and they were good enough to not need ketchup. Customer service? Well, the smiling checkout lady (they were all smart: nobody wore masks) told me the amount, and right after I got the receipt, I also got the meal. Now THAT is fast. Whataburger, pay attention, this is how you do it, especially the mask part, please take them all off. They also asked how we liked the food when we were leaving, an extra step that was appreciated greatly. So the experience wasn't top-of-the-line, but it was good enough for us. Reading through the reviews, I notice many where people did not have a good experience with this Popeye's, again typical for this chain. It's up to you if you want to take your chances. But the Hunny has always liked Popeye's, and remember, the wife is always right, she told me so.

My husband and 4 kids were all there and witnessed her poor and despicable behavior: 1. She did not welcome us 2. She frowned the entire time 3. She had a sarcastic tone in both her words as well as her body language 4. When I told her that they should remove items they no longer carry from their menu, she replied that that's not her problem 5. She said they had ONLY spicy chicken, no shrimp and that the wings were really not wings 6. I told her she was rude and it looked she did it like her job 6. She responded by telling us she would not take our order and that she would call the police to escort my family out 7 she was adamant that she was not rude which is the BIGGEST problem here of all. If she thought that wasn't rude, I cannot even imagine what she thinks rude is Shame on this store, the owner and the franchise for employing people like her and especially to management positions. Shame on you Ms. Manager and you were most DEFINITELY rude, disrespectful and unprofessional and I KNOW you know that you were despite how you tried to deny it. This should be a 0 star review
