It doesn't move at lightning speed, but the staff keeps things churning along steadily. It is great to see a crew of local teens working hard and managing the rush. The menu hits the spot. My daughter went for the Kayak's Dream Shake--a solid mix of banana, strawberry, and blueberry. I ordered the Diver Shake with banana, chocolate, and peanut butter, and it was exactly what I wanted. For the food, the hot dogs are on the thinner side, but they serve them on a properly toasted bun. The burgers have excellent flavor, and the French fries are golden, crispy, and salted to perfection. My son tried the pepperoni roll; he thought it was okay, but not great. The vibe is great, vacation home run with a large roadside stand. Covered seating and picnic tables, corn hole, super size jenga and connect four.

Had two opportunities to eat at this restaurant on a recent family trip because my grandson likes…read moreice cream. It also gave me a chance to see how it operates over a short period of time with some different staffing. My final 3 star rating is the average of the ratings for the two experiences in the same week, on Monday then Friday, both at shortly after lunch. The Monday experience was the better one from the friendly and quick service of the staff and a very clean dining room. The Friday experience was again shortly after lunch but it looked like the restaurant was short staffed, even though I saw what appeared to be a manager talking with a staff member who was getting ready to empty the trash container. It was obvious they were enjoying the conversation based on their smiles and laughter. In the meantime we had to wipe off tables that had been used and vacated but not cleaned. I rated this experience a 2. In both cases the food was good and the fries were hot when we got them. Next trip in that direction we will try other restaurants.

I want to recognize Maggie at Dairy Queen for her absolutely wonderful customer service. When my…read moreorder of two chocolate ice cream cones had been left sitting on the counter for over 10-15 minutes while other customers were being served, Maggie immediately stepped in to help. Despite a coworker expressing frustration and insisting she should just serve us the melting cones, Maggie remained professional, courteous, and focused on doing the right thing for the customer. Her positive attitude and genuine care made all the difference. Maggie truly stands out because of her natural ability to connect with people. She doesn't just complete a transaction; she makes you feel seen, respected, and taken care of. Even in a stressful moment, she approached the situation with warmth and understanding, turning what could have been a frustrating experience into a positive one. Her genuine kindness and people-focused attitude make a real difference. Thank you, Maggie, for your exceptional hospitality and service. I truly hope management recognizes your efforts and also addresses the issue of ice cream orders being left on the counter for extended periods. Employees like you make the experience so much better!
