I opted for the white meat, so I had a couple of juicy chicken breasts with some Mac & cheese + mashed potatoes. Yeah, it was a bit carb heavy, but it all worked well together. While the breading definitely has some spice to it, it was fairly weak by my standards and wasn't an issue. Nor did it cause any issues later. My poor step dad got a concentrated seasoning bit and he was about beside himself, but even he recovered shortly thereafter. Overall it was a good meal at a good price with good service. It's hard to beat that combination. So if you like a little spice with your fried chicken, Gus's is a good option.

I'd highly recommend a visit alone on the Catfish plate, but I will for sure be back next time I'm in town to try the fried chicken.

I won't say it was food poisoning because genuinely it could have just not agreed with my husband.
